:help:
Since im one of the members who does have modem connection, im looking for a program that can give it a little speed, make it faster...etc. I have heard about a couple of programs, but which is the best? |
56k.. that sucks.
Since I've had broadband I have found myself doing 1-2 hours extra stuff than before simply due to the lack of constant webpage loading! I'd love to offer advice on how to boost your connection but I really dont know.... I never found any such software when using my modem. I advise you get a download manager like FlashGet or something.. that really helped me with my downloads and did ocassionally offer a speedboost. |
You can't really speed up your connection, I was on 56k half a year ago and the only real solution is well... going broadband...
There are some pieces of software tat claim to speed up things but I didn't notice nay change... |
thats like saying 'I have a wine bottle. how do I make wine come out the top faster?'
without getting a larger top (connection), you get anything out faster. |
Well Danny according to your logic.. smash the modem to bits and your connection improves!
Which I agree with... smash your modem up buy a new one. Why do you still use 56k? The price I payed for my 56k + 2 = My 512kb Connection (Soon to be Upgraded to 1mb for free!) |
Well, you could take two bottles, hook them up with some JB Wield and a few old US robitics vk-win chips, and make them somehow not screw over with redundancy, and have them pour 2 bottles at once :D

Right.. what he said!

DSL line (up to 1.5Mb) is 10 bucks cheaper here then 56K AOL or MSN. For 5 bucks more then for AOL or MSN you can get 3Mb DSL line.
|
Well it depends where you live I mean in half of my country DSL isn't available, and for people who use internet rarely 56k is still cheaper...

I was a long time user of 56K (which honestly never got above 32Kbits)
and can say without a shadow of a doubt that there are only a few options to speeding up your connection besides getting a better service. 1) Check how long your modem line is. The shorter the cord, the better your speed. 2) Download the freeware program called Cablenut. I believe with their latest version, they have included a 56K configuration. 3) Make sure you aren't trying to multitask your CPU while downloading. A machine can only download as fast as it can read whats coming in. 4)Lastly, make sure there are no bugs/wares trying to phone home |
