-   -   Amazon.co.uk Sent Wrong Version Of Arcanum (http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/showthread.php?t=4201)

I orderd Arcanum at Amazon.co.uk. First of all it was cheap, secondly as the corresponding picture on the game's page, they had the box version. So I thought, cool, let's order it.

It arrived today, but it's not the box, it is the Xplosiv low budget version in a DVD case...

I know I can return it, and I'm thinking about, but anyway I think that is not ok what Amazon.co.uk is doing. I don't know about the UK, but in Germany for example, certain ways of advertising products are illegal, including using pictures of "good" versions but then shipping a version of lower value.
If they are showing the box, it has to be the box; if they are only shipping the DVD case, that is what they would have to show on their site. This way I feel I have been tricked into ordering this.

yep phone them up and complain like stink

I don't know about in Germany, but in America I would sue for False Adevrtising. :not_ok:

Havell 02-04-2005 01:34 PM

Why do Americans always want to sue for everything?
I'd guess that this is a simple mistake, just phone them up or e-mail them asking for a refund or the proper, boxed version.

DeathDude 02-04-2005 02:09 PM

Yeah just send it back, no need to sue, stuff happens, as long as you get your original game that you ordered, hopefully they won't charge you or anything still though, for like shipping again.

I sent them an email, asking them to exchange it for the box version.
However, I expect them to only give me a refund. And this returning and refunding process will at least take 3 or 4 weeks. I am so PISSED! :rifle:

Why sue them? Well, I won't, but I could understand if someone would. It is just dishonest and base to trick people into ordering stuff with gorgeous pictures of original box sets and then just send them a cheap low budget reprodcution, probably hoping that it is too much of a hassle for them to do anything about it. Giving me a refund only is no problem for them, so they will keep on doing this and profit from the people who take this kind of crap. That sucks. :ranting:

edit:
WTF?

go out on a killing rampage.

Anyway, you got the exact same game you ordered for a budget price... I wouldn't complain.

Main reason why I HATE buying things via internet

Zarkumo 03-04-2005 09:06 AM

Just to be fair to Amazon.co.uk, I wanted to let you know that upon a second complaint from me, they gave me a full refund and let me keep the game. :ok:

Havell 03-04-2005 10:26 AM

This is why I like Amazon and quite often buy my stuff from there (even though I've never had a problem with them).
