Hi, I'm new, and I'm really happy that Abandonia has an art forum, because I'm an art appreciator
and an art amateur! LOL

Well no, I do take pride in my work. I think that if somebody denies their work as something well done (or something they're proud of, especially if everyone says it's AMAZING) is a little arrogant, in a way)

Self confidence is key! Anyway, I really like all of your posts and photos, they dazzle me! *__*

And so I'll post this thing, it's a photo of myself I took, that I messed around with in Photoshop. Mind you, a click with Photoshop can make a totally different picture with an automatic effect thing (like the filters :P ), but it's still fun!

Welcome on the boards!

I'm quite happy to see new art-interested members! I hope you'll share your talents as much as you can! :)

Two things:
-that photo is very well done. I myself have never used Photoshop so the results it can achieve amaze me every time. I'm a bit tired having slept 3 hours in last 2 days, so I'll be able to express a brighter opinion when I'll see more of your work, and hopefully having slept bit more :ok:

-You created two new topics with same title and contents-it's understandable since you're new on the board, but try to be more careful next time  Not that it's that hard work for me to fix things, but I'm such a lazy bum

Welcome again, and have fun in the Art Forum (and in the rest of Abandonia board, the boring part I mean :tomato: :tomato: :tomato: )

:D

So you think that being humble is a form of arrogance?

Interesting.

I personally think being humble is just... being humble.

You know, letting others judge the work. After all, the perception of art is just that... perception. You might think it's great, but someone else might hate it. Neither of you would be absolutely correct, of course, but (imho) it's best not to leap before you look.

Not to mention comparative value. There is always someone in the world who is more knowledgeable and talented, somewhere, no matter how good you might be.

But anyway...

Nice picture. :ok:

oh I know. I didn't mean to say that I hate when people are humble. I know that you know what I mean, I'm just not so good at explaining things.

It's one thing to be humble, but completely another to be meek and take no pride in your work.
It's just like when a girl says, "oh I look so ugly/fat/gross/whatever today" or puts herself down

A lot of the time it's like they fish for compliments

Anyway, :bye:

Hey..

Funny picture...and good to see that more "lovelly" girls are coming to the site :ok:

Looking good :)

If I may add some advice in the name of the agency for unasked advice.

Try to play a bit more with typography. This piece almost screams for calligraphy (in my opinion)

+ the picture is a little bit bland. It seems to me you want to capture a happy mood. The girl laughs, leaves everywhere. To amplify this you could pump up the contrast a bit more in the picture. Use 'levels' in photoshop to adjust the pic.

anyway, that's my 2 cents.

Keep up the good work :ok:

welcome on board!

as void stated before it'S always nice to see new "art-addicted" users joining our
pixel-and-pen crew :D

about your picture:
the main comment has already be done by maikel. your work has a nice content
but could need a little more emphasizing by brightening the colors. other than that
i really like the idea of the flying leaves. their graphical look make up a good
contrast to the photographical form of the person (=you?) displayed background.

about your comment "being humble vs. being self-confident":
you might be right. too much humbleness could be misinterpreted as a subtle
form of desiring complements...and a healthy sense of self-esteem is never wrong.

but on the other hand, the opinion of others about the works here are more
important than what the artist himself/herself is stating about that. i mean, even
if somebody is "fishing for respect" in a humble way, why should we bother?
any person contributing here will receive the attention and comments his/her
art deserves, no matter how humble or self-confident the artist presents his work,
in my opinion.

anyway, hope to more of your stuff!

FlightorFight 16-02-2005 03:35 PM

right, it's just hard to have the medium between self confidence and humbleness. I'm confusing myself with this, but I'm sure you all understand

Yes, the picture is me. I'm sorry it's so dark, I'm not sure why it is, it wasn't before.
