[Megaten] Tomak: Save the Earth, Again
Haha the title is weird I know :P Anyway...
I played this game on a PC probably around 2004-2007, I can't remember exactly when. Am pretty certain it's Korean; it's a side scrolling shooter game in a style similar to Maple Story's (example: http://www.mmobomb.com/wp-content/uploa ... lpaper.jpg) . Very cute and bright. You can choose from three different characters: A cute little girl with blonde pigtails and (maybe) a flower or a plant sprouting from her head. A stereotypical red devil character, either bald or with horns and sharp teeth. And a magician-like character in a dark hood. All three characters are, strangely, just big round heads and hands with their bodies in terracotta flowerpots. If memory serves me right, more flowerpots or plants floating around are the powerups/health packs. Most of the enemies are mecha machines and warships. The first stage setting is a night-time town with cottage-like buildings. I remember there's also a desert stage, a jungle stage and a night futuristic city stage. The ending credits are a collection of polaroid photos of the characters goofing around, in sepia tone with a gentle song playing. That's all I can remember, I hope someone has played this before and can enlighten me. :) |

It's actually a spin-off of a Korean date sim that was intended for an English release, but never got it. The game sounded pretty amusing, at least compared to the bulk of date sims out there: http://thegia.psy-q.ch/sites/www.the...0105/n22a.html http://thegia.psy-q.ch/sites/www.the.../f010625a.html You can see a few of the company's other games here. I kind of expected them to be out of business, but I guess they're still working on the GNG MMO. |
Yes! It's this game!! Thank you so much!!! Ahahahah I didn't know that it's a spin-off :P The dating sim game seems interesting but the realistic photos of the girl in the flower pot is kinda creepy... Thank you anyway!! :D

Funny you say, that, OP! I was just thinking of that game this month. A relative bought a (bootleg?) copy of it for me when I was young and in China. If I recall correctly, it came in one of these paper cases and had a generic-ish orange disc. This was back in the Windows 98/XP days. I brought it back to the United States when I left China. I played it quite a few times with my childhood friends with two people on one keyboard, and I absolutely loved it. Haven't touched it in a while, but I remember the first night level, a sea level, an air level, and a last one I forgot. I'm not sure where the disc is now, but I downloaded a copy of it off the internet and it is probably the exact same thing I have. Pretty sure the game doesn't run without the CD in, so instead of mounting it every time I downloaded some NoCD cracks.
I uploaded the intro/ending here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfMEAL9kkGs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4b-5JgoU0V4 I was actually looking for a way to extract the audio from the game. Unfortunately, I have no idea how the data files are packed. I could open them up in a media player, and that's how I got these videos. |
