Misc old shooters
Did anyone ever look at Duke Nukem 3D? Shouldn't the PC version of this be abandonware?
What about the other doom titles? While we are talking duke - let's not forget about the original duke and duke nukem 2, i know they are technically not shooters, but still good games. While we are at it: There should be some really nice games for windows, like quake or unreal, system shock 2. Do they still sell thief 1 and 2? Ever thought of expanding the site to windows oldies instead of just dos? There are some really great windows games out there, that just seem to be not available anymore, it would be a shame if they would be forgotten. Sorry - gone a bit OT in the OP, it's wasn't really intended to be honest. |

There's already quite a few Windows titles on the site and we fully intend to add more. |

Woah thanks - loads of effort there!
No wonder i didn't see unreal in steam - it isn't available yet in germany. *buwah* Just got myself some duke though. Naughty man! :hihihi: Makes me wonder though what will be in the years to come, when stuff with really bad copy protection becomes abandoned. Starforce etc. Great gameplay never gets obsolete. Thanks again you two! :) |
BTW, do the site's resources allow to host demos and/or shareware versions of old games that are not abandonware and their full versions cannot be uploaded? It's sometimes quite hard to find a demo of an oldie, you know... or would this be too much a strain on the site's storage capacity?

Much less strain than you'd believe. I'd say: go for it.

Cool :) BTW, DOS Museum has a few interesting demos that are hard/impossible to find elsewhere. E.g. the Alien Trilogy demo there shows some differences from the final release (different title and loadings screens, some different sound effects), and has two levels instead of one from the more widely known demo version. It is also interesting because that demo was apparently copied from a demo CD (although it's not an ISO), which may have contained music in Redbook/CD audio format. In fact, I've never encountered any sources where demo/pre-release CD ISOs of old games were available, although those are of definite historical interest as well.

Hm, Thief... I still have it somewhere, although it was bloody boring, and my "strategy" was to smite down all the guards because they so much made things more anoying.
