Shannara Problems

Hi Everyone!

I have a problem running this game. Every time I want to start it with shannara.exe the game exits with the following error: unable to allocate memory for the voice directory.
Does anybody know a solution for this? Thanks in advance for the answers, and greetings from Hungary.

Oh, yeah, forgot to add that I'm using dosbox v0.72

Just tested the game in dosbox 0.72, default settings, runs perfect.

So: your mountings/settings are probably wrong.
Care to post your OS / mount lines / inputs?
Would be helpful to pinpoint where you go wrong.

me too, and i tried various configs, putting the game in various mount virtual dirs, c:\, c:\shannara, c:\whatever\shannara and all worked

by the way, the game control interface is terrible. i just sometimes wanna unclick an object and i always have to find an empty spot on map to do so, considering the fact that almost everything is clickable it turns into a devious pixel hunting

Yep, even drag/drop works.
I wonder how he did to bork that one ....?

OK, in the attachment is my config file for dosbox. I'm not a pro dosbox user. I have just recently started using it so there could be problems with the settings.
Any help would be appreciated.

I used to use D-Fend until I came across it's update:
http://dfendreloaded.sourceforge.net/

No longer do I face the headaches of dosbox.

And yes I used to use Dos back in the day, it's almost like Latin. lol

hmm, so then after it boots up you go cd shannara and then shannara.exe?

manbaru- saying that there's headache in dosbox is like saying that there's a headache in counting 7x8. plus, he has the mount commants all right, this problem is probably somewhere else

did you try redownload portman? also, try dragging shannara.exe to dosbox.exe icon=S

dosraider 23-05-2009 10:29 AM

Dosboxconf looks good.
Still missing some detailed and relevant info:

Inputs?
Add:
Did you ran setsound or install by any chance?
OS?
What unarchiver did you use?

Also:
do a cd shannara and a dir /w and post a screenie.
Screenies are taken with CTRL+F5 , you'll find it in
\progarm files\dosbox-0.72\capture\

Till the day you run into a game that won't run using D-Fend, then you'll be completely screwed, as so many before you.
