G.I Combat Episode 1: Battle of Normany

Yea I dont even know if anyone even plays this game, other then me. I can't get my hands on Close Combats, so I have switched to the next best thing;

A game made by the guys who made Close Combat!

I actually happen to enjoy this game. I like to run over my enemies by stationing a tank right in front of them, and then lettig it use it's machine guns to mow down infantry squads! Yea!

So, yes, I have questions about the game...

1. Is there a way to make it brighter? On night missions I litterally cannnot see. Our pc doesn't have a video card that has Transitioning and lighting, so everythings alot darker...

2. New Scenarios? Like can yo get winter Scenarios from Battle of the Bulge and similar to that?

3. Reinforcements? Is there a way to get reinforcements when you want them?

4. How to get your troops more ammo when they are out...

5. How to say, get one guy in a given squad to move across a street while the others cover him, and keep moving them up the road, like individual man control (if it is possible) I thought individual abilitie or w/e it's called was how, but when I wante dto move a guy name Pvt. Parker across a field to flank 3 german troops shooting my guys, my entire squad got up and was in turn, mowed down. (Funny fact though, Pvt. Parker was the only one who survived and actually did flank the germans and kill them)

When I attended E3 many many years ago, I got to see GI Combat in action and talk to the creator of Close Combat. Very cool guy. My father who is a huge close combat fan bought this game for that very same reason, made from the same creators as close combat. He wasn't impressed with it though, and neither was some of the community. The game had some serious AI flaws and some bad UI decisions which hampered continuous gameplay (So I heard, I didn’t actually play it.).

Eric Young, the creator, released a follow up game called Squad Assault which fixed a lot of issues. There are a bunch of other 3D war sims that are pretty good. The Combat Mission (CM) series is very good, and a new game made by 1C named Theatre of War (ToW), of which you can find out about them both at http://www.battlefront.com. Read up on them as they are very different games, but do a great job at what they do.

Some fun vids of the games:
ToW - Tank crew abandons immobile armored vehicle and re-crews another tank

ToW - Some good overall gameplay video:

Since you seem to have some sort of issue finding a Close Combat game, I think there are a few used copies at some local shops. I’ll hunt around and pick one up and mail it to you. PM me your address. :D

Yea, G.I Combat does have it's flaws, but i can't get my hands on Close Combat's, and my pc can't run most other games, I'll see if it can run Combat mission :)

I've played the Combat mission games before,m there addicting, amusing, all around fun :)

$10 USD. The box is in perfect condition as is the manual. I don't know if besides the cd and manual, if something else normally came in the box.
