Looking for some game recommendations
1 Attachment(s)
Greetings everyone.
I have a N800 Nokia Internet Tablet that's capable of running Dosbox .72. Here's a screenshot of it. Attachment 29 It runs at a speed equivalent to a 8 -10 mhz 8086 computer. So yeah, it's pretty gutter but don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. This honestly is one of the coolest things to have on a handheld system. So anyway, I'm hoping to get a few game recommendations from you guys that will work at this low, emulated speed. I'd really like to hear from someone on this. Thanks. :) |
Recommendations? Hmm..... What sort of genres are you thinking of? Any preferences?
Anyway, if you look up a game on Abandonia that you might think looks promising, there are also a "if you like this, you might want to try these" for each game. EDIT: For those low speed games, you could look at the "genre" we call "the crypt". These are really old games with so and so graphics and sound but some of them have excellent playability. |
Okay. Thanks for the tip Mighty Midget!
I'll have a look around the crypt! :) |
Sure, "the Crypt" is the right place ;)
Another thing, if you want more use the game filter: Select "All games" -> From year 1980 to 1990 for example. Because some old games aren't into the Crypt :) |
Just by curiosity,
are there other handhelds on the market that can run dos box but at higher speeds? |
niles had been talking about some "UMPC"s, before he used PDAs for old school gaming

Alternatively you might consider running ScummVM. See http://fanoush.wz.cz/maemo/#scummvm (or http://770.fs-security.com/scummvm/ for a better explanation). This is usually much faster than running Dosbox and then the original executables. Of course this basically limits you to adventures.
