Abandonia Online Tournament
 

I had talk about this long time ago, but now I'l see If we could actually start something.

To avoid travel costs, were going to have to play trough online. Since not everyone is using MSN, we will meet in a chat room somewhere (possibly in some irc-channel.) and see who goes against who first.

Since there arent many dos-games that can be played trough online (withouth having to go trough a lot of trouble first), we will be playing with emulators, particularry Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64 and Sega Megadrive/Genesis.

This all is still in development, but I really would like to do this, since...well...I want to see can you play as good as you can write.

So, opinions, ideas and of course, game suggestions?

EDIT: Oh, and as for a game, I suggest Street Fighter 2 or SNES.

Emulators? Count me out.

Why? Not everyone can get Red Alert or Doom easily compared to emulators and roms.

EoF, there's nothing wrong with using emulators and roms. fair enough i'm not going to post links since that would cause trouble for abandonia but, who says we can't talk about what we play personally. if the tournament relied on the people finding their own resources, we should avoid trouble.

actually, in the case of doom, all you need is hamachi, doom95, and a doom1 shareware wad, and then boom: free and legal doom deathmatch over the net.

actually ports like legacy or zdoom can play direct ip-ip matches with as many players and you don't need any hamachi. but i think we are little bit offtopic..=P

it's not offtopic russ, it's within context. anyway, if your going to choose a sourceport, try Skulltag. it's based off of Zdoom but it has Opengl rendering as well as a inbuilt server browser, making things easier.

Why, I never said anything about others. I simply am completely uninterested in playing a tournament with roms.

When I want to play console, I get a console. I tryied several times to play console games on my computer, but it's just not the same feeling.

I don't know why people have the bring the issue of roms on Abandonia. It's completely off topic.

well maybe cause they are old and gaming as well...
