XP, Folders and Read-Only
I am trying to tell the wretched XP that I want the folder in question NOT read-only, but it resets it to read-only after I uncheck the box and click accept. This turned out to go for other folders as well. What the heck is going on and how can I have them STAY at NOT read-only?
Thanks in advance. |
It doesn't really matter if the folders stay read-only, since for the files in them the attributes will be set to whatever you set them to and this read-only attribute for the folder doesn't seem to have any function whatsoever anyway - you can still delete it without any double-confirmation appearing.

Ok, thanks mate.

if you sometimes still had any problems with xp default 'user friendly interface' attributes changing, you can use "attrib" shell command in your command line
type attrib /? for the reference |
Anyway the read-only attribute is indeed dummy for folders at least in WinXP.
