Can we put up a page every guest must go through before reaching the forums? I am thinking about a very tidy page with just a very few, but all important rules, written short and snappy so there is no way they can miss the message.

Something like this perhaps:

NO SPAMMING OF ANY KIND OR CALIBER

NO ASKING FOR WAREZ (THAT INCLUDES ESA PROTECTED GAMES)

NO LINKS OR INFO ON WAREZ (ESA PROTECTED GAMES STILL INCLUDED)

I'm all in favor of this idea.

BTW, Don't forget "Most games on Abandonia need DOSBox to run - read THIS for more info".

God yes :wallbash: Thing is to keep it as simple as possible, so mentioning DOSBox will be essential, but Scumm VM or VDMSound is not really necessary.

We could always cheer it up with a "Have a nice day :)" or something :D

i can make animated flash animation of you guys want \o/ (not drawn stuff but seriously looking swf)

Sebatianos 30-07-2007 07:07 PM

Serious is good (especially in this case), but it doesn't have to be an animation.

I'd also include a few links at the bottom around the site - like the DOSBox toutorial (as Horseman said), to the donation button (just wishfull thinking here), to the sister site (some promo between both sites can never hurt) and AN INVITATION TO REGISTER and become a regular member.

No to flash.

A link to a "What is Wares/Warez"-section feels like a good thing.

And also, I think it would be good to have links to "forum rules", "requests" and "tech-help", in addition to the brief summary of rules you mention.

And I would instinctively say yes to flash, although it definitely depends on how it turns out

Edit @ below post: Duh! 'course. Now I feel 'bitta stupid.

Mighty Midget 30-07-2007 08:13 PM

That could be done by having these rules made as links.

EDIT: @ previous post. No worries. This is what a think-tank is for :).
