Well guys, it's that time once again: The Console Wars!

I really don't have as much console bias as some people i've met, but it's still there, nonetheless. Even though right now the Playstation 3 is suffering from a drought of games, I believe that in the end it will rise up to surpass the other two. The only reason I think this way is probably because 80% of my game library consists of PS2 games.

However, with it's huge price tag (they cut out the cheaper console, you have to buy the 600 dollar one now) I can't say that i'm going to buy Sony's new hardware for a while. Which brings me to the two cheaper options: the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.

I personally love the 360, and no one in the world could get me to say I didn't. You just can't not like the brilliant job Microsoft did with the controller design! Most people put this console out in front because it's experiencing a wealth of good games and high sales, but figure it out guys, this thing's been out for 2 years already! Give Sony two years with the PS3 and I bet they'd have the exact same [bias]if not better[/bias] results.

Then there's the Wii...dirt cheap, fun, and Nintendo. I think my wallet has chosen a winner! This is the one i'll buy first, but overall I can't necessarily say that the awesome control scheme will account for the fate of the console; that destiny lies in the games themselves to decide whether this console flops or r0xx0rz.

So, what do you all think? Is Abandonia filled with Micro$oft fanboys, Sony rioters, N1ntendo kiddies, or PC sn0bs?

Already having a good enough PC atm (planning to upgrade to said 1337 status before fallout 3, and yes im so very disappointed but not surprised), and already owning a Wii I plan to purchase a ps3 in the near future. This near future being the release of MGS 4. I definately have a bias for Sony over microsoft, and I really only use my Wii when other people are over (thats kinda an iffy statement.. :juvenile giggle:) In the end the Wii will fail because of its sub-par graphics, as todays market is all about graphics over gameplay. The ps3 will win because it will. All hail sony. All hail the cellprocessor godzilla. This said, I will always play a game available for both pc and consoles on my pc. PC is king, long live PC, down with the evil godzilla. Um, yea.

You have to remove pc from the options because the PC is not a console, it's a whole different ball game. How do people think the ps3 outranks the pc and the 360. and the wii, well no thanks... had one of those, but I traded it for a 360 which rocks. I voted PC here because it's an option and pc will always be the best "system".

@Iowa: The wii is not cheap at all. The console may be cheap but look at this.
Wii Console - $350
Wii Remote - $45
Wii Nunchuck - $20
Wii Games - $20-60 (Rip off because most wii games are ports of gc and or ps2 games)
Hi-Def Cables - $40-50 (Comes in 360 and ps3 bundles)

Grand Total: $505 (For Wii, suitable for 2 players, 1 game and hi-def cables)

Xbox 360 Premium - $450
Xbox 360 Wired Controller - $45
Xbox 360 Games - $9-60 (have seen xbox 360 games for 9 dollars, but wii cheapest is $19.99)
Xbox 360 Hi-Def - $0 (Already included)

Grand Total: $545 (For 360, suitable for 2 players, 1 game, hi-def cables)

it's 40 dollars more and is more valuable and fun (Wii is very boring unless you have 4 people constantly wanting to play)

I was about to say, PC isn't a console.

And console wars are for fruits.

It's $250 in America for a console, controller, nunchuck, and one game!

Edit: I dunno how to edit poll options, so I wont. Besides, the PC can play video games, can't it? Then I consider it at least somewhat of a console.

Wrong, the Wii for me cost much less, you get everything you need in the initial package.

I paid $250 for the Wii, then $50 for a game, that's all, from that point on I had two Wii controllers (a whole set) a classic controller, and old Gamecube controllers from my GC.

As for the games being ripoffs, hardly, and the argument that they're "last gen games" is totally BS to anyone that actually owns a Wii.
I don't care either way, but when you just speak untruthful things about a console it's dumb.
Also the X-Box Premium already has Wavebird wireless controllers packed in.

well, pc would not 'go down' even if the games for it did

All in all, if you want to be realistic, remove one vote and knock it up for the 360, the 360 is definitely and realistically the best competitor, and that's being unbiased, it's going the same as the PS2 did last generation.

I bought a Wii in North America at walmart, the grand total for the system itself with wii sports 1, controller set and such was around $350.

I did own a wii, and I still agree the games were last gen. Godfather, oh no you have a few more levels, but look the draw distance was even lower than it was on PS2 and the motion sensing was sub par.

I voted for 360, I now own one. I traded my wii for a 360 (poor guy I traded it to, he has probably sold the wii by now). The 360 is probably the best out of all three next-gen consoles. It has best controller, pretty good games and the price is in the middle. It's not cheap, but you can still afford it.

Iowa 07-07-2007 02:17 AM

What don't you guys understand about the fact that the 360 has been out for two years? In it's first year it sucked too...
