This song was done a while ago (long before Happy Feet) for a multimedia book, Ocean Fairies - a fantasy about fairy pengiuns. (fairy penguins are a real species of penguin, the smallest one.) I'm revamping the whole project and I've noticed the music doesn't quite work. Something is wrong with the phrasing or the structure of the songs. This one is quite bad, I think. I can't work out what is wrong, exactly. Is the music too crammed without enough breathing spaces? Is the rhythm wrong, or the phrasing? Can anyone give me an idea of how I might fix this problem? Would really appreciate any input.

The song, Ocean Fairies, is in mp3 format and only 4 meg.

Hopefully the above url works for download. The special forum code isn't accepted by the forum. Something about dynamic coding.

Thanks! :)

Edit:

It works. You just have to right click and select 'save target as' on the line where it says to do just this.

Additonal music stuff -
if anyone is looking for fair and constructive reviews of their music, you can do no better than here:

www.zoetrope.com

This is an adjunct to the Francis Ford Coppola studies where musicians, writers and artists come together to review each other's work. You just have to register, free, and away you go.

Btw, and this is amazing (!), I haven't been on the site for around four years, but seeing I'm getting back into doing projects, I popped into the Film Scoring section and discovered I'm listed as the number one reviewer for Film Scores. L O L! There must be thousands of people who've reviewed over the intervening years since I was there.

Exhibit A:

my first impression is that it's too fast.

too fast changing of the instruments.

but I'm no expert.

Yes, I think you're right, Data. Something like that. I did the song ages ago, and others like it, but suddenly I can hear something's not right, which is good as I can improve it.

Thanks :)
