-   -   Your Favorite Space Sim? (http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/showthread.php?t=13312)

Well I searched and I didn't see a topic for a while about this, so I thought I'd ask. So what's everyone's favorite space sim? Or maybe discounting Freespace 2 and Xwing and Tie Fighter, what are some of your others?

My favorite space sim is Wing Commander 3, with 1,2, and 4 close behind. I also thought Freespace 2 was excellent. I also enjoyed Starlancer, but I never got a chance to play Xwing or Tie Fighter, but I did play Xwing vs. Tie Fighter. Darklight Conflict was also cool.

Has anyone ever played Renegade: Battle for Jacob's Star? It came out around Wing Commander 3 and was totally over shadowed, but remember reading that it wasn't a bad game.

I'm not that much into space sims but I really loved X-Wing by the time when it came out and Tie Fighter was even better! Played those for hours and hours. I never got to play X-Wing vs Tie Fighter though.

The very first space sim I played and found kinda interesting was Skyfox II: The Cygnus Conflict on the C-64. According to MobyGames that was back in 1987.

Still no end: one of the first games I got and one I REALLY loved on the C-64 was Starglider, not really a space sim but almost. :whistling:

Loved the XWing and Wing Commander.

Don't know if these count but,

Star Control 2

Homeworld and Homeworld 2.

Terminus!!

Most defenetly Terminus.

But I only have the HotU version of the game.

So just the game and no Sound disk or Movie disk.

Yes, that's read right. It's a 3 Disk Game.

I enjoyed Starlancer a lot, as light entertainment, but then I discovered Freespace 2 and fell in love with it. A great game, especially with some of the mods made recently.

Freelancer is also excellent, but I dunno that it counts as a space sim, since it's got a lot of management elements, too.

hmm let's see. there was Elite 2 & 3 (nice physics love the slingshooting arround planets orbit, landing on abandonded planets ot mine them...)

don't know if this actually counts but Terminal velocity -nice... i think a lot of star wars games is based on this one.

then there are hyperspace - interesting concept. wing commander remake (& vega trek) nice graphics, good freeware stuff.

due to previous versions issue with ATI cards i couldn't really test the Babylon 5: I've found her. must download again the new version and try it out again.

star control has a very good concept but bad execution...meaning i am not too good in that kind of combat, so they usually won. plus some scanning would be good or get out button. instead you could unknowingly crash into planet full of spaceships and could never get back into hyperspace. if onyl star control would be more 3D and also what't with the time limit?!?!?! enjoyed the game, but just doesn't go to the top with me.

freespace series. played only demo. very good simulation. was looking for a torrent. haven't found a good one yet.

I'm a Star Wars fan. So i pick X-Wing Alliance, the last SW space sim.
