As a heads up for the mods and admins, after a friend mentioned having problems with downloading Dune 2, I did some investigating and found a huge number of missing game archives on AB's update pages. Everything else with the updates seems normal, but the download links go to either 404 pages or "empty" (0byte) .ZIP archives. I started taking screenshots when I discovered the first couple missing, but I gave up after about 5.

Thus far, I've found:

Dune 2
UFO - Enemy Unknown
X-COM Apocalypse
Transport Tycoon Deluxe for Windows
Master of Magic
Airborne Ranger
Alien Syndrome
Amnesia
Anvil of Dawn
Bad Blood
Bandit Kings of Ancient China
Barbie - Super Model
Battle Chess for Windows
Blood Bowl
BloodNet
Blues Brothers II - The Jukebox Adventure
Bouncing Babies
Bumpys Arcade Fantasy
California Games II
Captain Dynamo
The Clue!
Cool Spot
Countdown
Covert Action
Dizzy - Magicland
Dizzy - Prince of the Yolk Folk
Dizzy Bubble
Eric the Unready
Eternam
Faery Tale Adventure 2 - Halls of the Dead
Fields of Glory
Future Wars - Time Travellers
Gemfire
Genghis Khan
Genghis Khan II - Clan of the Gray Wolf
Hero Quest
Highway Hunter
Innocent Until Caught
Jazz Jackrabbit 2
Jurassic Park
Kings Bounty
L'Empereur

Going alphabetically (not including the first few, which are from the Most Popular list), the missing archives seem to stop after the L's.

This doesn't really look good to me.

Yes. Looks like someone either hacked their way thru or simply used old passwords to get in and simply erase the lot. With that been happening today, I hardly have fingers to point to.

I hope that it will teach Kosta to actually allows dissidents to stay around when they clearly are against the system.

I warned them about this...I thought we should have changed the password. <sigh>

Edit: I just checked out the archives. Most those games that were "Deleted", were uploaded and reviewed by Tom...seems like a personal Vendetta...

I hope you know how valuable the dissidents are, when you posted this.
Since their formation they have provided abandonia with 39 reviews.

I won't tolerate bashing on the total group.
If you are angry with the one who corrupted the archives... That's fine with me. I'm angry myself as well.

Hey guys I'm sure I have at least some of the archives that are missing, maybe we should coordinate a "salvage" operation?

Data 20-10-2006 07:51 AM

Good idea.
I know Romano started on it.

We have backups of most of the games though.

WTF? How can you say that?
Do you even know who are dissidents? You can't say something like that about a group of people you dont even know who are.

And whoever deleted those archives must have had a good reason for it.

Let's leave the whole dissidents thing out of the discussion.

I'll remove any post from now on mentioning the dissident thing. In either good or bad words

Let's concentrate on mapping the damage and on replacing the archives.

Thank you.

Well if there are games that you won't be able to back up, do make a list of them.
