I feel like making an RPG with a Link To the Past (Zelda) style of play. This isn't really a super serious project but just one to have fun with. We might get it done. We might not. Just something for people to do in spare time. Just for fun. Ideas anyone? I'd prefer it be made in AGS cause that's the only thing I'm decent at.
It doesn't exactly have to be set like LttP but in that game style sense. |
Sure, I'll help. Not too skilled at programming, though, but I could work on the story and dialogue.

Just use RPG Maker :P

Yay! So we have Hyoshi and Duckpatch?

Not sure if you can use this, but here's an idea I had years back for a medieval setting rpg.
About magic: I never liked the 'sleep to memorize' AD&D style, and I thought the 'mana' style was missing something to make it believeable. So I thought: Let the wizzard use health points. The more powerful the spell, the more health points drained. At any level you can try ANY level spell, but with a chance of backfire. That chance increasing for each level your character is below the spell level. The exact nature of the backfire would vary according to what type of magic used. If it involved demons, the demon would turn against the mage and the party, if it involved elements, the mage/party would be stoned/drowned/burned etc. If severe, the backfire would not only kill you, but also anyone standing close. Then the mage would have to rest to regain the lost HPs unless he gets to zero HP (due to him sacrificing himself for the party?) and kicks the bucket. Also, it would have been cool to have mages tens of thousands years old. Cunning, wise, powerful.... mad as a hatter... |
Please Make a MMORPG or somthimg we could all play together.

And now something completely different:
Since role playing is about imagination, could it be that the players don't play 'living' charachters? I mean, imagine a Disney cartoon where a book comes to life. It would be a challenge to play a 'dead' object, or a non-physical idea, like an rpg rule. Imagine this scenario: In the quest for the ultimate rpg, the rules take the law in their own 'hands' and battle for domination. They talk, walk, do all the things we do, still they're rules, with a rule's 'mind and behaviour'. Some are strict, some are more 'elastic'. They all have their own agendas, powers and whatever the game designers can think of. EDIT: You even got tension here: Anarchy (the freedom of rpg playing) vs government/bureaucracy (the rules) Just an idea. Not very well thought through. Still, it could be interesting. |
