Don Andy 10-04-2006 09:15 PM

I recently bought the game out of boredom and I must say I really like it. It has this relaxing feeling all over it and I like watching my little town develop and how the villagers develop relationships between each other, my sister and me.
Sadly I hadn't got the possibilty to play it via WiFi yet, mainly because the lack of friendcodes and the lack of WLAN (Well, we do have WLAN, but I don't really feel like sitting 3 meters next to the modem for the Wifi to work, have to get a an adapter for my PC)

Now I want to know: Any of you got the game? And if so, what do you think of it?

I know, it's not a game for everyones tastes and I have seen many people that didn't like the game because of it's overall "childish" feeling, but that were mostly people who like to blow heads off, instead of playing something not blood-based.

Blood-Pigggy 10-04-2006 09:18 PM

Addictive, still playing right now.
Don Andy? Do you have a wireless router or a USB thing that you could connect to over WiFi? Maybe we can share our friend codes and visit eachothers town.

Kon-Tiki 11-04-2006 12:30 AM

Animal Crossing... that's the sole reason I'd buy a DS. I just can't be bothered 'bout the other games, but really'd want to play AC someday.

TheGiantMidgit 11-04-2006 02:13 AM

I used to play it on GC, did pretty well with it and liked it alot. My friend has WW, I tried it out, its damned good too. ...and online, it's supposed to rock. ....oh, and my USB Wifi thingy works like, all over my house and out to the road.

Kon-Tiki 11-04-2006 02:15 AM

Where exactly's that hotspo... errr that you live again?

TheGiantMidgit 11-04-2006 03:36 AM

Way far away from you.

efthimios 11-04-2006 08:40 AM

What is the game about? I watched the video review of it on gamespot and still don't understand what the purpose of the game is.

Rogue 11-04-2006 09:57 AM

That sound interesting. I'm looking to get AC, but not sure if I will like it.

Another game that I like to get is Harvest Moon for GC. (Liked SNES version of the game :))

Data 11-04-2006 10:15 AM

the GC version of harvest moon isn't that great actually. Those long days are sometimes a bit boring.

I like the one for the GB much better.

Rogue 11-04-2006 11:06 AM

In SNES version you would do most of the job in the night. :) Is it the same in GC?

I remember some people had problem to see screen in night time, so they had problem to get nice ending. :D

Data 11-04-2006 11:15 AM

no on the gamecube one day takes 5 or 15 minutes and you have to attend to your farm activiities more than once each day.
(2 days each day water and milking).

The aspect is much more on the social interactions. It's quite hard to have a huge garden and much less rewarding as in the snes version. (you should really try the GBA version, it's much closer to the snes version)

But the game isn't all bad. It has quite a few nice things. But I was little bit disappointed after playing the GBA version.

I wasn't trolling. I seriously cannot grasp the game. Is it an rpg? Is it a game like Sims? All I know is that you have something to do with a garden and that you collect something. Plus this strip http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=184

(funniest comic strip online imo)

The GBA version of Harvest Moon's pretty much the coolest one I've seen. Still got to try the GC and PSX version, and, if there is one, the N64 version too. The GBA version took a bit too long to my likings to expand and customize your house (which was mainly why I played), and to have any change in relationships. That is, unless you cheat and buy yourself golden wooden fence thingies. The next day, each and every villager'll come over to either scold you or tell you how disappointed they are

Data 11-04-2006 11:46 AM

(my remark about being disappointed after playing the GBA version refers to the GC version of the game)

Yeah. The GBA version is the best. It's actually a port of the PS1 version I recall.

There is one for the N64 as well. I have only played it very briefly once.

In the GBA version (and after 2 years ingame) I'm at the point of getting married.
The Love meter is maxed out, but she refuses me all the time. I think I have to get a 2 personbed before she will accept my proposal.

My house is quite large and I'm on very good terms with the harvest sprites!
(tip give them the honey/apple you collect each day when they are working to you. It boosts your relationship a lot).

Kon-Tiki 11-04-2006 12:12 PM

Can't even get them to work :D Then again, I barely spend time on those. I keep my farm and tools at such a level that I can take care of it myself. During harvest time, that can sometimes take an entire (ingame) day, but it definitely is rewarding to do so.

Rogue 11-04-2006 12:40 PM

Isn't the game limited (2 or 3 years)??

If I remember correctly, in SNES version each girl had different taste.

@ efthimios - It is a Sim game, where you have to repair/build farm that you inherited from your grandpa (if I remember correctly) or some other ol' man. Your parents left you alone, so you have to work everyday to buy stuff, improve and enlarge your farm, impress a girl, get married and have children. Depending on your success, you can get different endings at the end.

@ data – Thanks for info. I will try GBA version first. :) GC version cost 15 bucks now. (I can’t find PSX version anymore)

efthimios 11-04-2006 01:05 PM

Thank you Anubis. It does sound interesting, just not my cup of tea.

Kon-Tiki 11-04-2006 01:21 PM

It is mine. Am going to play it again :D Just wondering... GBA one or N64 one, or, if I can find it, the PSX one? Tough choice.

Don Andy 11-04-2006 03:11 PM

Seems like the whole discussion kind of drifted from Animal Crossing to Harvest Moon XD

Rogue 11-04-2006 03:19 PM

How different is Animal Crossing? What are goals in that game?

TheGiantMidgit 11-04-2006 04:02 PM

No real goals, besides paying off your mortgage. It's basically a chance to lead a little, seperate life.

Kon-Tiki 11-04-2006 04:13 PM

But fun, unlike the Sims. Those're just boring and stressful.

Exactly. In Sims you mainly are occupied with pleasing your Sims needings, in AC you can just relax.

Fishing is my favouirte activitiy. Great fun, relaxing and it really pays off.

Blood-Pigggy 11-04-2006 07:41 PM

Me and Andy have exchanged friend codes, if anyone else would like to exchange codes for AC:WW feel free to PM me.

@Midget: Sorry I haven't been able to get back to you on Metroid Hunters. That and a few other games aren't available to me anymore :(

I second that, I'm in dire need of friend codes....well, kinda :D

TheGiantMidgit 11-04-2006 08:35 PM

Penny Arcade has a great AC:WW community, with tons of codes.

http://www.penny-arcade.com/forums/viewtop...hp?t=1073820868 sorry to post to another forum, but that's what I'm talking about.
