Tomb Raider [GoG]

Anybody help somebody, where can I download a tombraider games(full version) in dos version thanks!!! :D

wormpaul 30-12-2004 07:42 AM

i thought all tomb raider games were based on Windows :ok:

goblins 30-12-2004 07:54 AM

i only ever thought that tombraider was a Play station game - there you go something i didnt know - still the playstation game was very good and the sequel was good also.

Stroggy 30-12-2004 08:05 AM

I'm not sure about the original but the second one is for windows.
I'm sure of that since I remember playing it on my first own computer which had windows.

i don't think they're abandoned either.

goblins 30-12-2004 08:07 AM

didnt they make a third one at some point as well ?

wormpaul 30-12-2004 08:13 AM

All tombraider games were for Windows...

and TR 2 was the best one so far...IMO..part 3 came later but was more action based and not that good...(but still much better then all parts coming after it...with angel of darkness as absoulte the worst one...that game  )

Koen 30-12-2004 08:46 AM

I finished them all! There are 6 parts or tomb raider.

Part 1 was a dos game, all the others were windows-based. Tomb Raider 1 is not abandonware!

Tomb Raider 2 and 3 had an extension pack with them. They were made with the same engine.

After that, tomb raider 4 (last revelation) and 5 (chronicles) came. These 2 games were made on the same engine, but tomb raider 5 was a bit more advanced.

And they tried to make the game totally different with tomb raider 6 (angel of darkness), but it didn't work out like they wanted... It was a bad game.

I liked tr4 the most, and after that tr2.

Stroggy 30-12-2004 10:35 AM

I liked Tomb Raider 2 best, but it was quite annoying at points.
Tomb Raider 3 was okay but not very interesting
Tomb raider 4 was okay and quite cinematic at times, but the last levels were depressing for some reason (in the city)
Never played tomb raider 5.
And I still hate my brother for making me buy tomb raider 6

wormpaul 30-12-2004 10:55 AM

Dont buy TR 6//

That one really sux

JJXB 30-12-2004 12:00 PM

have 5 on pc (included the level editior used on all the previous windows tomb raider games - a bit complex though)

Which part did you think was worst?

I was quite grumpy when I fell through a wall in the Louvre into a black hole of sheer nothingness.

It could have been a good game, the beginning was okay until the graphic glitches started popping up.

xoopx 30-12-2004 12:07 PM

tomb raider was the first playstation game i bought! bought at the same time as the machine, come to think of it.
killer app!
i also got the dos version later. if you can mess around with glide wrappers and stuff, then the voodoo patched dos version is the best looking version tomb raider 1 - also if you get the 'unfinished business' version it has extra levels.

tr2 was ok. nothing great.

I STILL HAVENT PLAYED TR3 LOL.

i have played tr4.. and im actually re-playing it at the moment.. with all features turned on, and FSAA forced through the drivers hehe. its pretty good - a return to ancient egypt stuff like the original.

chronicles... i have on dreamcast but it seems REALLY boring, i cant get into it.. also the DC controller is a pig.

i heard #6 is a real stinker... and in fact people refused to see tr2 - the movie out of protest that they got ripped off for such a crappy game. tr2- the movie sucks as well, so no loss!

JJXB 30-12-2004 12:10 PM

chronicles is a real pain in the arse but otherwise, its ok (the levels that come with the level editor are better though - they are old tomb raider style)

Kon-Tiki 30-12-2004 12:21 PM

TR1 is definitely a Dos-game. I still remember the struggle with Dos4GW back when I wanted to run it on our old 486.

Rogue 30-12-2004 12:35 PM

From the first part, that I got on PS I played all TR games on consoles. I got 2 TR games for computer (not sure which ones) but I never played them. I also tried Virtual Play Station on PC, and that worked great. :D

Yamcha 30-12-2004 12:36 PM

all the tomb raiders are Windows based. There are versions for PS1. And Tombraider isn't abw. Here for 6 euro you can buy two parts of the serie. So go buy it. Its a great game :ok:

JJXB 30-12-2004 12:53 PM

tr1 is dos. if it was windows only game, why would they release a dos demo?

The Fifth Horseman 30-12-2004 12:59 PM

Only recently I saw in a store something called "Tomb Raider Collection" or something along these lines. Said to include all the four original parts with the addons.
And I saw it in a DVD-box in one of these "cheap oldies" retail distributions there too.
So it is definitely still sold.

xoopx 30-12-2004 01:38 PM

tr1 is definately only DOS. ive had tr1 running on xp, i think i used a glide wrapper or glidos, or something to run the voodoo patched one...maybe vdmsound for the non voodoo one. i forget. but a lot of people find it easier to run a playstation emulator and run the psx version of it on their p.c its less of a nightmare. too bad i sold my psx copy years ago...

i still have the first tomb raider on sega saturn though ;)

Frodo 25-02-2006 03:01 AM

moogle 25-02-2006 05:38 AM

Just a note, but thers a website that hosts old games for you to play (and it has Tomb Raider 1) where you pay a monthly fee to play (don't worry, its legal) I forget the name, but it shouldn't be too hard to find (I'l try and post it tomorrow), but tehres a free 2 week trial, which should give you a fair ammount of time to play :)

The Fifth Horseman 27-02-2006 05:21 PM

Eidos = ESA = never.

Now it's not never but 2012.

The Fifth Horseman 08-08-2007 06:00 PM

How things change, eh?

It's still five long years... by then we'll be around Tomb Raider 10 or 11 LOL.

arete 26-06-2009 09:14 AM

Is this Tomb Raider 1 or 2 that's esa protected till 2012? Uuurgh :wall: Because the thread name doesn't say 2. :wall:

EDIT: thks, TA

TotalAnarchy 26-06-2009 09:18 AM

Seems it's 1, but it's still protected till 2011. And when it's not protected I bet it's sold :perv:

Tomb Raider

[PROTECTED] until October 31th 2011 by Eidos Interactive

Expack2 04-11-2011 03:56 PM

October 31, 2011 has passed, and Tomb Raider's ESA protection has ended! Therefore, it needs to be comfirmed whether this game is still supported and whether a valid buylink exists for this game in order to determine this game's abandonware status.
