Feel free to comment and discuss this game here. Also, if you have any useful tips or tricks don't hesitate to share them with the others! Thanks!
Review |
I love this game :w00t: :w00t: . These kind of games (PUZZLE) are my favorite and i hope to see a lot of them here. I had the DR. Brain 1 and 2, and i hope you upload shortly the 3rd and 4th part.
This one is a realy great game for the mind. And it does the work for all ages. More of them please. PS. I had this game, and i thought of uploading it somewhere but I didn't know if it was still sold. |
 theres a Dr Brain 3 and 4???? :D
Dr. Brain 3: The Lost Mind of Dr. Brain
Info about Dr. Brain 3 Dr. Brain 4: The Time Wrap of Dr. Brain Info about Dr. Brain 4 Hope find them soon.... |
Ok, how do I get past the copy protection - you know, the bit where they ask for the coordinates?
Oh, never mind  I got that click-wherever-you-want thing by myself :D
GReat GAME!!!..>THANKS for uploading it!! i've loved this game ever since i was a kid ,...along with the KQ series... i dunno but all the games seem alot better when u were a kid and they remain that way ---some how i dont find the games today to have such an impact on me
_____ ___ ok, ..hm....does ne1 know who to get a perfect score in this game ?. ..i've got all the puzlle points 390/390 but there are 'credit' points that i have no idea how to get ..i sum how got 53 out of 500?... and does neone know where to use the music score or computer parts? |
The extra credit points are for replaying the puzzles. The maximum total score is 1,000, and to get that you need to play the game several times at each difficulty level.
I got a problem when I want to play Dr. Brains island something with audio hardware any clues to that. I run win xp soundblaster and I have never had any problems with this sort of thing before. :help:
A lot of old Sierra games will do that if your PC is too fast. Try running the game in DOSBox, or if you're already doing that then give it less cycles.
run dosbox and lower the speed - its working fine on my PC
:ok: Ty I'll try that.
(Referencing the review) 127 moves for the Tower of Hanoi. :) There's actually a (mind-numbingly repetitive) optimal way to solve that puzzle.

___ and does ne1 noe where to use the music score or the computer parts yet ? thanks in advance |
It's more than mind-numbing if you go for full points.
I found the exact requirements in the help. It's not playing the whole game several times over, it's playing each puzzle several times over in the same game (eg clicking the U-turn button to go back to the map, clicking on the Microscope even after you've gotten the receipt, etc). To get 1,000 points, you must complete:
Quote:
Tweak it with Ctrl-F11 and Ctrl-F12.
Well, I got the full 1000 points. I want my life back. :not_ok: The bonus "secret document" is rather disappointing really.
this game is wicked fun..i remember this one when i was a kid...beat it within a couple of weeks...used to play the heck out of it...
Oh please put 3 & 4 on this site. I love these games to death!!! :w00t:
I cant find the coordnates!!!...I lost my book and it won't let me click anywhere. Help please!!!
If you've got the version from this site, you can click anywhere on the map you want.
This game doesn't require dosbox actually. I run it under Xp fine and use vdmsound to fix the missing audio.
I'm getting an "Error 10" after completing the music puzzle, when I try to move to the next room. I'm guessing that a file is missing.
BTW as a correction to the review, on expert level the tower of Hanoi puzzle takes 127 moves. it takes 2^n-1 moves for n disks.
I am having trouble getting Dr Brain 3 to run on XP. I have run the compatibility wizard and it didn't work. Anysuggestions?

I am not great with computers and am not sure what those are or how to do it. |
Hi, all. I can remember playing The Castle and The Island when I was a bit younger -- and I now have a daughter who I think would get a REAL kick of these games (plus The Lost Mind & The Time Warp). Does ANYONE know where I can get these?? I'm running Windows XP -- am I even going to be able to run them??
Please e-mail me, privately, if you can be of any help. amethystbeauty@gmail.com Thanks, ever so much. |
Oh gosh, I guess I should have read ALL the posts before I posted, huh?
If it's ESA-protected -- does that mean that it's TRULY unavailable? I mean, is there someone I can call or write to? It seems such a shame, these were such great games. The next generation (my daughter's generation) is really missing out. :-( |

You could of course try to write a polite email to Vivendi asking them whether they are still selling the game, but your chances of success would have to be close to nil. They must get flooded every day with emails asking for games they no longer sell. Sorry. Edit: If I were you I'd remove that email address. You'll only get spammed to death. |

I really don't see how you can call the posting ofa 15 year old game Warez, thats just completely wrong. And for that matter, the orignal makers, Sierra, even said they essentially don't care of people download it. They haven't been getting revenue for this game in over a decade. and, to reply to your other post, YES it can be avialable for free. Just call up Sierra, they sent me 3 original disks (my old ones were dead) for...FREE. So please let people post it here. |

As for the warez definition - it doesn't matte how old the game is. Would it matter if you stole a brand new Porche, or a 15 year old BMW? Both would still be car tefth - both would still be illegal! It's very much the same here - so stop compleining about it. We are trying to get permisions needed to get as many of these great old games back on the site, but until we are officially alowed to host these games they are NO GO (Dr. Brain isn't the only one). I am very happy for you though that you got those games for free from Sierra - that only means there's probably a lot of hope for them to give us permision to host this game again (if they really don't mind). |
First of all, I understand what you both are saying. But the thing is, Sierra (as they are now) doesn't really care about a game so old. Like I said, you can call them up and they will mail you the disks. Maybe now-a-days they'l;l email it, who knows; it was 2 years ago when I asked them for it and it wasn't a problem.
The point is, you can't really buy these games today, so why cut off the only eal way to get them, save ebay. Let me ask this, how many have actually been sued from hosting games that haven't been sold in stores for over 10 years? Do you really think any company is going to go through the trouble to sue someone over something they don't make money for? I cna understand Vivendi going after people pirating Half-Life 2, but not an 13 year old MS-DOS game. (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never seen any suits for games/software this old.) |
Quote:
That's what a lawful society is. And if it really is that easy to get the game from Sierra - maybe you could simply post the phone number you called and all the people who want the game can call them and get the disks! |
Quote:
The only reason why ESA won't let everybody who wishes to host those games do so is that they are paid by the companies that own the rights to those games (i.e. Vivendi and a bunch of others). If Vivendi really didn't care about those games at all, surely they wouldn't pay an organisation to protect their copyrights? |
I hope I'm allowed to ask this, but I finally got the Island of Dr.Brain of ebay, and I dont' have the "encycloalmanactionatyography" for the coordiantes, and I just can't click on anywhere, Does anybody have those? Please... :tai:
If you're refering to the Copy Protection Codes you need - they are on the main site (look under extras - HERE). :ok:
no, I don't know what those are for yet, because I can't even get into the game without having the coordinates for the island, it asks for longituted and latitude, and I don't have the manual. I can't click on anywhere like everyone is saying either. Please help--anybody....
The ones on the site are for The Castle of Doctor Brain, not the Island. I seem to have lost my manual somewhere, but I remember it was like a table of longitudes and lattitudes with the symbols the game uses on it.
Yeah, well I had to buy the game off ebay again to get the codes, so now I"m going to have 2 Island of Dr.brain CD's. It was worth the trouble I guess, I love the game
I was also wondering about the coordinates. I bought this game like 9 years ago and just recently found my disks. The game loads up fine on DOSbox but I don't have the coordinates cuz I lost my book some time ago. Does anyone have a book that can list the coordinates?
 All you people without the codes, better love me for this

oh sweet jesus thank you SOOO much for those darn coordinates! LOL
 no problem, you'll probably have to figure out what symbols stand for what name, (there's no way to post the symbols,).

Here is a one page PDF with the map and coordinates you need. I am working on scanning the whole 96 page pamphlet so for those of you who were careless and lost yours, you to can enjoy the pleasures of Dr. Brain.

So what is this "secret document"? Is that all you get? I just spent all night beating every puzzle on every difficulty with no hints only to find out that I'm just a fraction of the way to 1000 points... I don't want to go through it all several more times to get some crappy little prize. Please elaborate. |
I love the island of Dr. Brain! A great sequel I never knew existed. Lots of fun.
i had the first 3 dr brain games years ago but am desperate to show my girlfriend how brilliant they are

If you mean "how can I get a copy": look for one on eBay.

Whoops. The above post was mine. Sorry. Quick replay didn't allow for a username and I didn't think about it when I posted.

Apparently, my version is not fixed like some others. I got to have the coordinates. In fact, I'm thinking I gotta have the book that came with the game to solve other puzzles? (like King's Quest 6, you gotta have the "guide to the land of the green isles"). Can anyone supply me with a copy of the book or at least the coordinates of the island appearing on p. 5? My email address is [BEEEP]@io.com. Thanks in advance. |
i need some help... everytime i try to download the game it say somthing like
This game is under protection of ESA (entertainment software association) and it CAN NOT BE DOWNLOADED! We also can't provide you with information on where or how to get it. You can find more about The ESA here. If you ended up here you probably requested a game from one of the game production companies that are members of The ESA. You can find the list of ESA members here and get in touch with the company who's game you would like to obtain. Any further inquiries regarding this matter can be directed here. i was just wondering how to get past this i click on the thing that says entertainment software go 90 what am i supposed to click on that allows me to download it |
If they shipped you three copies of "The Island Of Dr.Brain" could you tell me what the number you called was so i could get a copy of the game

Yo people this is abandonware, make download possible(if there is a lack of archive I can help ;)).

No, it's part of the precisely timed master plan to take over the world, Pinky!
Lol, I remember playing this a looooong time ago. The ending was great, I remember being all: "What?! Oh come ON! I went through all this because of that?!" Lol, good times :hihihi:
I loved playing the Dr Brain games - great graphics, fun puzzles and a typical Sierra feel to the games. It's funny how the backdrops for all their games look so similar in style.
The two batch files in the archives aren't needed. They are identical and just call an EXE file without doing anything on their own. Please delete them.
I cannot seem to get the download to work for me. I keep getting an error saying "unexpected end of archive". Is there a way to fix this?
I downloaded The Island of Dr. Brain from this site and seem to be getting the same "Error 10" when trying to move on after finishing the music puzzle that has been mentioned twice in this thread already.
Is the version on this site just broken or has anyone actually been able to finish the game with it? |
