Vote, Vote, Vote ! :D

PrejudiceSucks 13-11-2005 04:01 PM

No, I still hate having to set everything up on Linux. It might well be safer and faster, but out of pure apathy I can't be bothered.

BeefontheBone 13-11-2005 04:13 PM

If I could play my games on it I'd stop using Windows - but you don't have an option for "I already use it" or "I already use both".

Danny252 13-11-2005 05:08 PM

Windows works. I dont need everything to be done using command line...

A. J. Raffles 13-11-2005 05:44 PM

No. Because playing games isn't everything, really. What's far more important is that I barely get along with Windows; I know I'd be completely helpless with Linux, never mind how good it is.

Quintopotere 13-11-2005 06:33 PM

I voted no, even because I'm too lazy to change...

Sebatianos 13-11-2005 06:50 PM

Tried Linux, returned to Windows - no further explenations of my NO vote needed.

bruno 15-11-2005 12:39 AM

linux it is not easy to work. i vote no. :sniper:

JimmyJ 15-11-2005 01:05 AM

I have a Windows and a Linux set up so no worries here ^_^

DeathDude 15-11-2005 02:24 AM

Well knowing my knowledge on windows is much more knowledgeable and I can stand the problems that windows may have, I still rather play my games in windows.

Reup 15-11-2005 08:06 AM

You can actually run quite a lot of games of Linux using Transgaming or even Wine.

I'm still running a dual-boot PC btw, but this has more to do with the fact that 3dS MAX, Maya, AutoCad 2005 and ArchCAD 9 don't run in Linux (I must admit though I haven't really giving installing them all a try because I couldn't be bothered).

troop18546 15-11-2005 04:23 PM

Nah.

DeathDude 15-11-2005 04:54 PM

Yeah there are ways no doubt, but that would require more learning rather just take the lazy/easy way out least for me anyway. :bleh:

Fruit Pie Jones 15-11-2005 08:09 PM

Switch to Linux? No thanks - I have a job!

Nikson 16-11-2005 04:20 AM

I'd definitely do it. Faster, more stable, way more secure. And the "learning to use it" isnt a problem since I already have to use it every day at uni (I.T. student) :)

But I'm too much into the latest games, so I have to stay with XP.

wade 486DX266 LAPTOP 16-11-2005 04:29 AM

If windows games could run on linux i would but linux seeems o :sniper: :Tom: ver the top

chickenman 16-11-2005 09:13 AM

Linux is not hard to use, just get a good distribution like ubuntu or debian and install it, they all come with a desktop so there is not a lot you need to learn.

But you can't deny that you do need to have at least some computer knowledge in order to be able to run it. Windows, on the other hand, was designed by idiots for idiots - OK, maybe I'm being a bit too harsh here...:D

Nikson 16-11-2005 10:23 AM

You are. It was designed by idiots for lazy people :D

New Linux distro's like Ubuntu do not have to be set up like before. It now works just like Windows. You install, and you are ready for use. The only reason I still use Windows is the games I want to run.

MdaG 18-11-2005 10:39 AM

I have a feeling people find Linux hard is because most of them have grown up with Windows. So they already feel at home on one system. I've got a classmate who's hardly ever seen Windows. He's grown up with Slackware Linux and he can't even change the screen resolution in Windows, but he can work magic on his Linux box.

That's correct. They are the only distros I had no trouble with. I have three partitions - Win98 (old dos games), WinXP (current games) and linux just for fun :)

win98 18-11-2005 05:23 PM

Lets see I love windows because I grew up using it (our first pc had win95). Also Bill Gates isn't an idiot he is the master mind behind dos and windows I you think windows users are lazy because they can't be stuffed learning linux then think about it windows is more popular because it can run lots of games and other things like that and it comes oem on all new coputers from the common brands eg HP or Dell. I am a windows user and if you thing because I use windows I am automaticlly lazy the I shall leave these fourms. :ranting: :not_ok:

I suppose you're right about that. Although, strictly speaking, I hardly "grew up" with Windows, as my family didn't actually own a PC until I was twelve or thirteen. So I suppose for me it's force of habit, really. And a complete lack of trust in my computer skills, which isn't entirely unjustified. :tomato:

animae 18-11-2005 07:23 PM

Unbelivible I voted no by fa****** mistake. Linux dudes you might need to be in front of your combuter for HOURS at the beggining (for the amatures like me) but it really WORTH it. Oh and its (legally) free

master mind behind dos???
OMG
GATES JUST STOLEN IT :ranting:

win98 18-11-2005 09:33 PM

O yeah but he was the master mind behind windows and I still like windows better.

efthimios 18-11-2005 10:45 PM

Actualy windows was "stolen" too. Atari and Apple already had GUI OSs well before Windows. When was the first Windows? 87?

_r.u.s.s. 18-11-2005 11:29 PM

yeah, 't was stolen 2
and look here, firs win was in 85

Titan 19-11-2005 12:06 AM

none the less, this is starting to get :ot:

AND.. starting to turn into a Gates-bashing..

Behave like the adults you are(or try to project that you are (think you are, but you'r not))... ok?

Bob's teacher asked the students what;s their fathers job.
Teacher - tell us Peter what's yours dadys job?
Peter- My father is a police man
Teacher - Excellent peter your father protect us from thiefs etc etc. Ann?
Ann- My father is a doctor
Teacher- Nice. your father cure us when we are sick congratulations.Bob
Bob- my father works as a piano player in a lady house
Teacher- Oh my Oh my bob when u returne to your home i would like to come with u to talk with your father ok?
Bob-Ok ma'm

At 2 o clock the teacher arrives with bob at bobs house
and sits with his dad to talk while bob is playing in his room
teacher- I have to tell you that today your son brought me in a very anxious situation when i asked him what you do for a living
Bob's dad-Oh realy and what he told you?
Teacher-that you work in a lady house as a piano player.why isn;t that true??
Bob's dad- Look i work at microsoft but there are some things that an 8 year old boy should't know

win98 19-11-2005 04:09 PM

Thats it I Bill Gates just had to use the gui idea to keep up with time his windows was always way diffrent to atari and apple mac.

_r.u.s.s. 19-11-2005 10:39 PM

i think u don't get it win98, its stolen, it's like someone make engine for some game, u stetal it, make level design and graphics and say that "my game is different".
but let's get back to topic, it's really getting off topic.

i would change my operation system on linux, if all the games could be run on it, without payng dxemulation from microsoft to run dx games etc.
it's much more stabile and you could build(program) your own system as you want to be it

win98 19-11-2005 10:52 PM

True but I will switch when microsoft falls (if they ever do)
