Hahah, I'm not sure why but when I was in second or third grade my school made everyone play this game in computer class. I remember we spent three weeks playing this game in computer class and I was the first person done! It's a lot of fun =P

help when i get to a certain part is says cannot find 888 pal why?
I pick up flower and that is when i get the message.

Holly, I'm assuming that you're running Windows XP?
In the tech notes for the game on another site, I found this tip:

A slowdown utility *must* be used to run the game-- otherwise you will get a faulty "888.pal not found" error

This could be your problem. I played Ecoquest using pure Dos (as I've Windows 98) and didn't have any problems or need for a slowdown utility. I did a google search and came up with a program called Mo So. I'm not sure how it works as I've never needed to use such a program. You might like to give it a go. Holly, I imagine in the download there will be a readme type of file which will give instructions for the program's use. The site you're downloading it from might have some tips as well as this is the maker's official site.

Other than that I can't be more specific as I've never used these sorts of programs.

Give it a go and if you have problems, post to the Troubleshooting forum where someone a bit more knowledgeable than I can help.

ok, i been playing this game and i kinda stuck at the house. How do i crack the safe and the password in the organizer?most importantly,how do i get out of there? been thinking like nuts...

Does anyone have a manual to this? As I'm stuck with the shaman and you need the manual (damn those security thingies!) ....

I spent yesterday night cracking the game, and adding all the facemasks for the copy-protection answers...

This was requested by some, but...

There really wasn't any need for this as you can just keep on guessing until you get it right. (Usually on the third or fourth attempt, as all the masks are very logic. For instance... Happy People = a big smile... Silent as the Snake = a snake... Bravery of Bats = a red bat...)


Anyways... enjoy. I spent many hours collecting all masks. :ok:

need help how do you use moslo to slow game the program does not have a manual?

I use Turbo instead of Moslo. Turbo can be downloaded from here: http://community.the-underdogs.org/pub/tools/slowdown/

No installation necessary. You just need to run Turbo, reduce the percentage from 100% to whatever is necessary (say for example 50%), and keep it running in the background while playing the game.

The sound isn't working on this game on my computer. When I start, it says "Unable to recognize audio hardware." Anyone have any ideas of how I can fix this?

I don't remember well because I played this game a long time ago, but there should be an executable (either .bat or .exe, something like install.bat or setup.bat or setsound.bat, etc.) to change the sound setup. You just need to select the correct setting there.

help how do you use turbo with this game?
I have tried lower the speed but still gte 888 error. help driving me crazy. I want to play the rest of the game.

Hi guys... I'm new here, and I can't seen to run EcoQuest 2 or install it... I have the DosBox, and I've tried the dragging to the dosbox program, and it keeps telling me that drive C: doesn't exist, but I got EcoQuest 1 and Loom to both run just fine... thanks for the help!

Okay, new problem... I've got Turbo and slowed it down to 10% but still get the 888 error. Please help! I've waited 10 years to finish this game!

I remembered playing the game when i was Primaty 2-3. I got stuck badly in the hut and can't get the spider off the color plate at that time.:bleh:

I still have the game disks (those big 1.2MB floppy disk) still with me even today. But unfortunately the hardware that read the disk is history now. :wall:

I got the first part for christmas when I was about 11 and enjoyed it very much. Years later I tried to get EQ 2 but couldn't find it anywhere in stores or in eBay. Ok the code is the outer 4 digits of the keypad. I forget the combo but its something like:

1379 or whatever the 4 cornor digits are...

Wow, I really really love this game!! It's both fun and educational! :angel: Nice combination... :ok: I learnt a lot about the rainforest from this game, playing it as a little girl, hehe :D

Oh, and if you're having problems with the sound, I have Windows XP and I downloaded the VDMSound program (from this site :) ) and then you choose to open the game with "Run with VDM". Worked fine with me, although I still got the message at the beginning that there's something wrong with my soundcard.. Oh well... :bleh:

hmmmm, I don't know who's responsible for this, but the walkthrough in the extra's part of the review here, doesn't exist anymore I think... At least, I can't open it on this schoolcomputer... :blink:

I'm afraid it's no longer for sale anywhere, so your best bet will probably be to search eBay. There's currently one copy for sale (LINK), but it's located in Australia, so that might not be ideal for you.

Hi - I have just tried to play this game on my computer and it was all working fine until (sorry if this spoils the storyline for anyone) the fire started in the forest, then the screen went black but the music was still playing. If anyone has had this problem or knows of a solution I would really appreciate some feedback. Thanks

As a matter of fact, I had this problem on a pure DOS-running 486 several years back. Dunno why it occurred, and I'm not sure exactly what got me past this point.

May I add to this magnificent topic my praise to whoever put in place the musical extras, I may be unable to replay this glorious game, but atleast I can sit back, close my eyes and dream about that blissful past when I explored the rainforest and learnt, ofcourse, the fundamental importance of protecting its heart. ahhhhhh memories. Would it be frowned upon if I had 'The Tree Hollow' performed at my funeral? I think it has a subtle brilliance that seems to accompany the ascendancy of the soul to a higher plane. I just needed a place to express my feelings...whew

I have been searching everywhere for at least a copy of this game. I played it as a youngster and never got the chance to beat it and it still makes me wonder all the time! Help! I need the codes for the safe and computer! :confused:

Move the jaguar rug to reveal a floorboard below. Use the floorboard to make a hole in the floor. Use the jaguar's tail to make a note appear. Get the note and look at it in the inventory to see a password. Enter it into PDA to get the combination for opening the safe.

Ahhh, I just figured out the jaguar tail thing! Thanks (I'm so glad it wasn't a copyright protection thing :confused:)

I have windows vista and everytime I try to install the game just says exiting installation. Please help!!

I got the 888 error message after picking up the forest heart's flower. I know I have to use moslo or whatever but that doesn't work with batch files unless I pay 20 bucks for it. what should I do?

There was an older completely freeware version of Mo'slo.
Or you can use DOSBox.

You can use ScummVM by this point. But why can you (based on walkthroughs and personal experience) only get up to 993/1000 points?

Is there a story behind this or is it a mystery that will never be solved?
