Hey guys. I seem to be in some sort of a "I want an online rpg" rut, but can't find myself any good ones.....or rather I can find plenty of good ones, that won't run on my computer. Anyways, I was wondering if any of you guys know of any GOOD free MMORPGS? Im kinda picky too heh. What i'm looking for is a game with a community, lots of people, and lots to explore...here's a list of what ive played, tryed, and what I can't run.
Played and can run:
Runescape (Blech...)
Ragnarok Online
Priston Tale
Legend of Mir
KAL Online
Conquest


Can't run:
Lineage 2
Kinght Online
Guild Wars
Anarchy Online
(any other graphically straining games)

I know some of those games aren't free games, but the list was just to give you an idea of what can be run on my computer. Heh, im dieing for a good online RPG, and free too.

A Tale In The Desert (This requires a fee after the trial, but it's fantastic)
Anarchy Online (You can sign up and play it for free until January of next year)

I can't really think of that many.

Good requests....Conquest i've played, and couldn't stand, everyone jumps around everywhere because jumping is faster than walking. Knight Online is on my list of stuff I can't play, and I need to add Anarchy Online to my list (Done so) because It won't run either. I lag=freeze when I get into highly populated places like towns.

Have you tried Rubies of Eventide? It is a decent MASSIVE online. I've played for two years off and on in my freetime. Its a bit unique as combat is a hybrid turn based.

I enjoyed Maple Story for a bit but then got bored with it. It's hard to describe, yet fun in small doses.

For a good mor-pig, you should check out Dark Age Of Camelot.

You could try Savage, tough it's more like a FPS mixed with a RTS with a lot of players playing at the same time.

One of each team get to be the commander of the team, and the other players are the warriors. The goal is to destroy the ennemy Stronghold.

btw, Utopia has some 80.000 players split over 2-3 servers..
You are put in a team of 25 ppl.

Who aren't exactly very good at cooperation.

Ultima Online will work on low spec machines and also on slow connections. You can also play this for free on player run shards which are pretty run though of course not legit. Great game in general and so fun if you are looking for PvP.


Furcadia is a silly little RP chat room set in a 3D enviroment. Combat is all dice based and its more of a community than an adventure. Its heavy RP so adventures are not driven by the game engine but rather the player. Nice touch is you can program your own "levels" or "quests" for other players to enter. Popular ones have been live for years.

Cybertown is a browser based mmog. There is little combat and questing as such as it is very "town/community" focused. You can buy houses, design products to sell in a market, get a job and work your way up the ranks etc. It can also be played in 3D where you can design your own avatar and because its browser based means you can play it anywhere, at work, vacation, etc :o)

I've been playing Ultima Online now for the past 5 years and it has yet to let me down...MMORPGs are awesome cuz there is no end to them...and whats better than a fun game that never ends (Besides making love to 100 beatiful ladies)

That's what Ultima Online looks like. Doesn't really look like a text-based game ;)

BTW, UO rocks, I can only recommend it. You may need some patience, and it could take some time to get used to the system, but after that it's pretty much fun for years over years.

Although I would never consider paying for it. I think none MMORPG deserves a monthly fee. Go Guild Wars!

Like pretty much every other MMORPG set in a medieval fantasy world. You got your standard-classes, your standard-quest, your standard-monsters. Just as special as Dark Age of Camelot, WoW (I will get burned for this), and all the other random fantasy MMORPGs out there.

I like MMORPGs in a Scifi-setting. They're not very special, too, since you just got your laser-sword instead of your broadsword and your shotgun instead of your longbow, but still I think, that scifi or space MMORPGs are much more innovative. A really sad thing, that these are so rare.

I was thinking of playing E.V.E.-Online, for example, but it has a monthly fee, which sucks.

And that's the good thing about Guild Wars. It's free. You just need to buy the game. We need more commercial MMORPGs like this.

no UO isn't Text based you only use text to talk to other people. You have Skills to learn, Crafting, Fighting, tons.

O yea the UO top 200...I know about this, I just meant it takes a while to find a shard to stay on, I hate hopping around trying to find the right one, If I was smarter at scripting I would run and host my own.
