Probably not. Unless some people are in fact willing to spend several hours on planes - not to mention the costs of the flight. And those people would need somewhere to stay as well, so there'd have to be an awful lot of planning...

The members are from all over the world. There are some members that live fairly close together - they might meet, but I doubt very much, that all members could meet...

Example:
We got Australians, Brazillians, Americans, Canadians, Icelandians, Norwegians, Sweds, English, Danes, Germans, Dutch, Belgians, French, Spains, Italians, Greeks, Turks, Serbs, Croats, Slovenes, Czecks, Polaks, Russians,... and many more - there's no way all could meet. It would have to be a world wide abandonian conference - and most people wouldn't have the money for the trip (most of the members are still at school, university).
Would be cool though if we could arange it.

So I guess local meetings would be easier.

What about continental meetings at the same time ?

We could have one in Prague or London, then on in NewYork, one in Tokyo and the make a huge video conference to party together ??? :w00t:

Well there are places in Zagreb where people could meet you know (maybe we could rent the Croatian house of parlament for the occasion :D ).

My vote goes to Zagreb as well! Kosta, Tulac, Romano, yours truly... we all live there (ocasionally, at least). And Unknown Hero shouldn't have any problems coming there, that works for Seb and Rainwife too. Peregy is in Kotor, so he could drop in. So... If nothing else, local meeting it is! :)

Well Playbahnosh lives close by too (near Zalaegerszeg - close to the border), I guess he could come too... I was talking with him about the meeting before... But the real question is - WHEN could we all meet?

zagreb is OK. There a return flights for about 100€ from Cologne to Zagreb. That makes it the same price as a London flight.

Regarding shelter, everyone is invited to stay at my place in Zagreb in case this could work out.

Having attended several HOTU meetings, I recommend having an Abandonia one as well. The FinnCons we've had have been fun, and it's great to see who the people behind the nicks and avatars actually are. And meeting people you've known a long time online is like meeting close friends.

The biggest problem we've had has been finding a suitable date, but in a way or another that has always been sorted out (like by having the meeting a year late..).

I probably wouldn't/couldn't come to Zagreb, but would definitely be interested to hear how it went. And the compromising photography is always a nice treat. ;)

There would be a lot of photos, that's for sure. If we could just somehow arrange it...

A picnic in Hyde Park or something would be good for me and probably for most other UK Abandonians, I could quite easily get the train there one weekend. Just an idea.

It doesn't have to be one big convention, though that would be cool. Lots of regional meet-ups would be easier (and cheaper).

I think Rishard's right. There's no need for all Europeans to meet in the same place (nor for other Abandoni users). So I think we should make some lists of meeting places.

Naturally, regional meetings are suitable for people. And i don't think that all this discussion is needed: there are already over 10 people willing to meet in Zagreb. Why don't they simpley do that, they should find a perfect date themselves and spend a weekend or something. Pics and news will be on the site.
I guess that this first meeting should take place in Zagreb (can't wait to see picture of Kosta's face when he is about to pay for the first round as the creator of the site and the host of the meeting) and after "the ice is broken" it will be easier for others to cath up and organize other local events. It will be much easier to do this when people find other people from local areas like those guys near Zagreb did. Otherwise it is just too complicated.


Also, this local meetings are probably the only kind possible, BUT we must not allow to see people separating.

If there is a German meeting I wouldn't suggest Frankfurt or Berlin 'coz they are not central enough.

We shoud take Kassel or Düsseldorf/Cologne for a meeting!

But I would prefer one bigger meeting in Zagreb. (think of the cheap Airlines)

I would be glad for the meeting to take place in France (cheap trip for me :D ) but given the small amount of french Abandonia members it seems rather unrealistic. So i'll stand for Italy, where the most beautiful women obviously are (i know i'm anti-patriotic but i've got eyes to see).

We take the different places and see how many people want to meet where.

Then we open up one thread for each possibility so that the people can manage the meeting on their own and we don't all mess it up with one big thread saying "we should meet at my place that best for me" ...

@David I can agree that Italian cuisine is very tasteful (Infact, I like it very much), but so is Dalmatian one (ever heard for pasticada con gnocchi?). BTW, I prefer spaghetti milanese over carbonara ones! :)

Well, it's delicious meat prepared in a very special way (infact, I don't know how to explain it). It's made in tasty sauce often with plums. Heck, I don't know what else to say, I'm not very good at cooking. :)

Well I found a recepy for it HERE. It's very tastey if prepared well, but otherwise it can be aweful.
