hi there,

I just thought if everyone has his/her own art thread then I want mine, too.

And off we go :

1) A sig I just created ...
http://www.moccador.de/art/1.gif

2) The deadly spider that lurks on my balcony
http://www.moccador.de/art/2.jpg

3) The flower at the end of the day
http://www.moccador.de/art/3.jpg

4) A little sucker that couldn't escape my cam
http://www.moccador.de/art/4.jpg

Oh BTW : Any comments on this are gently appreciated !!!!

Sean 06-08-2005 07:40 PM

Cool Works :)

A. J. Raffles 06-08-2005 08:08 PM

I won't believe you saw a crocus in August, but otherwise very nice stuff.:)

swiss 06-08-2005 08:14 PM

ermmm that's no crocus ... it a ...hum ... well I think I put the original one for you here ...

If you know what this is please tell me. My English is not good enough to know a large number of flower names ..

swiss 06-08-2005 08:26 PM

here's another one ... (i made that loooong ago - some time before I found my love for small creapy insects)

Frodo 06-08-2005 08:54 PM

Your insects are very creepy and scary

I do like your flower and you Swiss squares a lot though.

Keep up the good work

:ok:

lethe 06-08-2005 08:59 PM

Can you perhaps take a shot of the interior? It can be a water lilly or a marigold, I'd need to see a picture of the leaves and specially the internal structures.

You're a biologist, aren't you? LOL The stem doesn't look like it could be a water lily, though, and the flower right next to it certainly won't grow in ponds. So it's probably a marigold.

swiss 06-08-2005 10:56 PM

i take a photo of the "iterieur" of that flower tomorrow. It's closed now ...

Talking about flowers: here is the next one.

Doubler 06-08-2005 11:07 PM

I like them. They're very good indeed

Frodo 06-08-2005 11:12 PM

Ooh Swiss. I like that! :ok:

I can almost imagine that I am really tiny, and walking through those flowers. :D

Well... I did study biology for a while, and gardening is a hobbie of mine. :omg:

The stem does seem a bit short, and lillies usually have a quadrupule form, but I'm puzzled by those petal endings.

moogle 07-08-2005 12:13 AM

All this fancy talk is scarring me..... :tomato: And ya, good job swiss!!

lethe 07-08-2005 12:14 AM

Oh yeah, nice shots :ok:

swiss 07-08-2005 02:03 PM

I just found out that the flower doesn't bloom (?) anymore ... Sorry so we probably won't find out what kind it is until there will be flowers again ...

Here is some other pieces of my nature-photography:

1) a bumble bee
http://www.moccador.de/art/one.jpg

2) same one but larger ...
http://www.moccador.de/art/two.jpg

3) my desktop background at work
http://www.moccador.de/art/three.jpg

BTW: My cam is a Sony P 200 - nothing more ... So go out everyone and discover nature ! :D

Indignus IV 07-08-2005 02:11 PM

Nice swiss! You have a weird fascination with spiders......

I hate them (shudder) but you capture them very well! :ok:

I'm starting to think we should have a "name that flower" thread :D

swiss 07-08-2005 02:34 PM

Actually I hate spiders !
The only thing that makes me photograph them is that "fascination of disgust" (?) and curiosity on how they look in detail ... :D

I think it's much more interesting to photograph creeping objects instead of just flowers or people ... (And mostly I say that 'coz I can't do any other photography than flowers and insects  ) ...

Reup 07-08-2005 03:06 PM

The first Bumble-bee has a really nice composition. I like it, Swiss :ok:

That's a nice idea Indi. :D

Swiss could show us just part of a flower, or even a bitmap \ black & white photo of a flower, and we have to guess what it is. :ok:

swiss 07-08-2005 05:09 PM

OK, here is my newest creation ... and if you like - name this flower : (it's too easy ... next thing will be hard ...)

A. J. Raffles 07-08-2005 05:10 PM

Camomille? Very nice picture.:ok:

swiss 07-08-2005 05:17 PM

that was way too easy, aye ?

Try this :

Frodo 07-08-2005 05:19 PM

Nice pic. I like the frame round the flowers. :ok:

Sorry if this is a dumb question (I'm not an expert on flowers), but are they not daisies?

swiss 07-08-2005 05:27 PM

I think camomille is right ... I am no expert in English flower names so I guess the second one is a thistle ? Or is thistle just a category and they all have their own names ???

(You're from Scotland ?! I have very cool pics from there, too. I think I'll search them to post one or two here later - then we play Name that location ... :D )

swiss 07-08-2005 05:39 PM

and another one ...

Shunk Eat Enemy 07-08-2005 07:53 PM

those are some awsome close ups what camera are you using? :kosta:

oops thats invalid i just read it was a p 200

[sings]Hurray for the thistle, the brave Scottish thistle, the evergreen thistle of Scotland for me! A fig for your flow'rs in your lady-green bow'rs the [something] [something else] thistle for me![/sings]LOL

swiss 07-08-2005 08:52 PM

this one is for all the Scottish people here :bye:

(especially the girls - a flower for you - a flower with a dark and mystic background for all perils that lure in this hard world - a rose for all beauty that prevails)

Danny252 07-08-2005 10:04 PM

I think that the unopened buds above the flower you were aiming at take precedence.. If it was only the flower itself, It'd be ace!

A. J. Raffles 07-08-2005 10:19 PM

The unopened buds before the dark sky make the pic seem a lot more dramatic, though.

swiss 08-08-2005 10:31 AM

.. it's not the size that measures beauty. The unopened are taller but not as beautyful ...

swiss 10-08-2005 07:03 PM

here is my "today's piece". I made a voucher for a collegue of mine. She wanted to invite two friends to have a nice weekend at the countryside ....

(sorry for the terrible perspective .. I wanted to make look a bit 3D-ish ... But I guess I messed it up  )

A. J. Raffles 10-08-2005 08:00 PM

Motel Klein-Reesink? Sounds... erm... interesting.:P The card looks nice, though.

swiss 10-08-2005 08:17 PM

Thats her surname ... She is building a house right now and wants them to come over to see how things are growing ... it's not a real motel of course !

A. J. Raffles 10-08-2005 09:18 PM

I keep imagining that house bang in the middle of a wheat field, but who knows what things are like in Vreden, right?;)

The 3Dish look is a bit odd, but that might just be because the two sides are viewed from slightly different angles. But I'm going to have my eyes examined tomorrow, so I may well be wrong about that.LOL

Sean 10-08-2005 11:17 PM

Nice image... Im really not liking the 3D perspective though.

taikara 11-08-2005 03:22 AM

These are all very lovely, swiss :)

I'm no flower or insect expert, but I think it's really cool how you take pictures that mix the delicate beauty of flowers with the morbid grotesqueness of insects up close...

It makes for an interesting mix ;)

I particularly like the first photo of the bee in the purpled petalled flower :ok:

The ladybug is also quite good :)

swiss 11-08-2005 06:17 PM

that's soooo nice to say. thanks tai ! :Brain:

here is the machine that is responsible for these images ... (I loves me MAC)

swiss 11-08-2005 06:18 PM

something not as beauty now ... but I like it (it's soooo crepingly slimish) :D

A. J. Raffles 11-08-2005 06:37 PM

Actually it looks rather cute... for a slug.:D

Frodo 11-08-2005 06:42 PM

That slug is a lovely contrast with the green grass. I like it.
Your Mac keyboard is done at an interesting angle.
You have a really artistic eye.

:ok:

swiss 11-08-2005 07:03 PM

thank you mädelz,

I made these two when I took the first image of my MAC. I oversharpened them and I think the light and sharpness is a bit romantic ... :D

A. J. Raffles 11-08-2005 07:23 PM

Well, if you really feel that way about your keyboard...

taikara 11-08-2005 07:46 PM

I concur with Raffles, the slug is cute :)

And I simply adore the first picture of your keyboard... I love where you've put the focus, and how the light and the end of the keyboard are blurred, it's awesome... :ok:

I also do like the over-sharpened keyboard images, but I still love the first one best.

Good work :ok:

(If you think I am stupit - well yu may be right :D )

Sean 11-08-2005 09:22 PM

Macs are a lot better than PC's but I have to use pc because I live in London. There is absolutely no support for macintosh.. no software or games shops :(

You gotta be kidding me. Especially from the games perspective...

swiss 12-08-2005 02:33 PM

1. I am sure there are several MAC stores in London ... MAC is quite popular in the UK (at least I thought that)

2. Most of the good new games are made for MAC either (e.g. WOW, SIMs, TombRaider, etc.) and of course DOSBox ...

3. All MS Office Products run on MAC

4. MACs are faster for digital Art and film production ...

...

but stop now ... this is :ot:

Rogue 12-08-2005 03:16 PM

Nice colection and work swis!

As for mac, it will be a peace of junk now that they are moving from PPC to Intel architecture. So mac will become only OS. ;)

blastradius14 12-08-2005 03:47 PM

Swiss, your stuff is great!

Well, intel and AMD are running there stuffs into the 64 bit category, so it shouldn't be too bad to get a mac :ok:

Rogue 12-08-2005 04:01 PM

You are missing the point. Mac will become just different operating system.

OSX is based on FreeBSD, so it should work on many different platforms. :D

As for pictures, isn't nice to see so clean keyboard?? My keyboard is huge mess. (Everyone who works and eats at the same time know what I'm talking about. LOL)

blastradius14 12-08-2005 04:59 PM

Mine used to be white.... Now I don't know what type of grey it is...

Blood-Pigggy 12-08-2005 05:33 PM

Cleanest keyboard ever.
He takes too much pride in it though, must be because the Mac itself is terrible!
Buy a new one!

blastradius14 12-08-2005 05:54 PM

Well that's rude. If it wasn't for his mac we might not get to see those great images :ok:

I stink with a camera, but I can compile stuff like this

Yeah those are some nice nature pics indeed :ok: On first sight I like the bumblebee on the purple flower the most, it's got a rough edge and it looks like a really big ball of fur :)

(this and the bumble bee are taken in Friesland, NL)

Doubler 18-08-2005 02:25 PM

Awesome pictures, Swiss! :ok:
Where in Friesland did you take them, by the way?

bruno 18-08-2005 02:27 PM

beautifal pictures, do you have some more to see?

I'm going to cut that blood sucka with my knife.
He just looks so good he's screamin to be cut up.

blastradius14 18-08-2005 06:13 PM

He doesn't quite look like a mosquito. I have seen these one night bugs that look like that, but they are harmless to people and are another of those "food" bugs for nighttime birds and bats. All they do is breed.

Great pic, swiss :ok:

the original looks better because it looks more real, it just needed a desaturaion because of the green has too much contrast and makes you focus on the ground rather than the mosquito.I really like your macros :ok:.do u use a digital camera? I prefer the traditional way...too bad i can't do macros with my russian Zenit.

this is what i ment almost..the desaturation is too big but ...too bad i don't have the time to make it look as what i want to see.

They look like these http://www.natuurdichtbij.be/images/...ver%201668.jpg
except that they're completely red. I'll try to take a picture if I come across of one, they're quite pretty.

I like the flowers especially... the bright color against the black is nice, and I love how they hang from the top of the picture :ok:

Sean 27-08-2005 07:11 PM

I wish I could take good photos...ah I just thought of a cool one... I'll go stick it in my gallery!

Lovely photo's swiss.

swiss 27-08-2005 11:19 PM

thanks you!

but don't you think that only flowers and insects lacks of variety ?

to do something against it I created a stumbling lemming ... hope you like him ..

swiss 27-08-2005 11:27 PM

... and a little rodland fairy who glows ...

so and next will be a flower again. :D

swiss 27-08-2005 11:33 PM

here we go!

I posted the other pic I made of these flowers somewhere in the thread ... this is the somehow more artistic one.

Tom Henrik 27-08-2005 11:52 PM

Did you pixel that glowing fairy yourself?!

AWESOME!!!

Sean 28-08-2005 12:07 AM

If it is indeed from scratch.. awesome as Mr.T often said on that odd program.

blastradius14 28-08-2005 02:56 AM

Maybe you can make a gallery of the different flowers and put them all in a HUGE picture. Then you could put all of them on the desktop :w00t:

I didn't pixel her myself ... WOW I would be happy if I could. She's from Rodland - one of my favourite C64 games. But I pixeled the lemming-animation on my own :w00t: (and I know that that was an easy job)

Tom Henrik 28-08-2005 04:59 PM

The lemming is cute ;)

Danny252 28-08-2005 06:00 PM

is ethe lemming that pixel that moves a pixel or 2 left and right? too small.

swiss 01-09-2005 08:11 PM

hey there - i am back ...

I wanted to post this earlier 'coz I saw the sunset pics of tai and tom (both pics: wow).

So here is mine. It's a true German-countryside-sunset™!

swiss 01-09-2005 08:13 PM

swiss 01-09-2005 08:16 PM

This one shows what nature does and what mankind does ...

Nature vs Technlogie
Spiderweb vs Steelrope

I like it. Coldness lonelyness solidtude

Frodo 01-09-2005 08:43 PM

Swiss, your sunset is beaatiful. :D

I love the bright orange sky against the dark outline of the trees.

Lovely. :ok:

Doubler 02-09-2005 08:25 AM

Tom Henrik 02-09-2005 11:30 AM

I don't even konw what they are called in German so: sorry I don't know what I am shooting. ( :sniper: )

I normally just take anything that looks a bit interesting and then -> click -> adjust hue/saturation/contrast/brightess -> compress -> post it here

I am too unsure ...

Doubler 07-09-2005 07:04 PM

Nice one, but in all honesty I like your old (current) one better.
But in the end it's your choice. Choose the one you think suits you best :)

Sean 07-09-2005 07:45 PM

I also prefer your old one.. the scale really ruins the new image in my opinion.

Can't really tell much 'bout it in that hazy state, but that very front one gives me a faint idea. If you could, could you run a little test on them? Pick one of the flowerheads and squash them between your fingers, rolling it between them a bit. Let me know if your fingers look red then (which ought to be easy to wash off and is completely harmless if they're the flowers I think they are, so don't worry 'bout that)

She kinda looks a bit psychoish.. like shes going to stab somebody with whatever is in her hand. I might try that... looking at her face it looks like great fun!

it's supposed to hang off at the rear ! honest!

it's just the same length than the rest of the house. I just decided to add a small balcony for Mr.Pixelz who's living inside this house. He's a neat guy and I wanted to do him a favour.

Sean 23-10-2005 05:12 PM

Its too far back.. The balcony should be attached to the side of the house. Instead it is directly on top. Thats the problem... I think.

GunshySlycat1 24-10-2005 02:10 PM

I set this one cool one as my wallpaper... which programs do you guys use? I'd like to make my own stuff

I really love #4. I actually gasped when I scrolled down to that one.
Just discovered this thread and gone through all the posts becasue the pics are just that nice. I've always been fascinated by insects, especially spiders. Perhaps you can imagine my glee when I saw a whole collection of interesting photos of insects and flowers and other neat stuff. You have a great eye for detail and interesting perspectives and... yeah, I don't know how you photographers do it. My uncle's a wildlife photographer, and it amazes me how he can keep his ginormous camera steady as he photographs eagles that are high up in the trees...
But anyhoo, seeng as I'm tired I can only describe your work in one way: :w00t: .

Having taken a closer look at picture 4 after Alberto's comments I concur that it is a rather striking picture. The detail that was picked up in the original photo is simplified yet retained during the transition to blue.

I'd really would liked it smoother but the game doesn't have additional frames for me ... I took 'em off the game and recombined them in ImageReady. (And you can bet that my fingers hurt after pressing CTRL + F5 three million times)

The second thing why I used only a few frames is that I wanted the animation being very small (around 6k now).

Yobor 15-01-2006 01:49 PM

Yeah the movement is pretty good. On some games they use maybe three different frames. It's pretty pathetic. But you transcombabulated that nicely :ok:

bruno 19-01-2006 10:08 PM

Great work, i like very much, again i will say you have talent...

MagicMaggy 22-01-2006 02:24 PM

:ok: I never expected a creative person in you. After 16 pages of posts here I can say... I like your work :) In the time from August to now you have made really a lot of photos. (where do you take the time)?
I like your flower pictures most.
But most i really like the pictures from the MAC-laptop :) (or should i say i book?) Perhaps you should make more photos like that (things - every day used in antoher shot than known :) ) Like the picutre from you balcony deko. The first thing I thought.. hmm it would be a nice desktop picutre.
Looking foreward for more work :)
Ok I hope my english was not tooo bad :tomato:

1. I wasn't that technical guy from the beginning ... I learned the same job as you ....

2. Everywhere I go I take my cam with me and when I see something nice - click - and then when there is plenty of crap on the telly I take my shots into PS for retouching

3. it is NOT an iBook - it's PowerBook !!!! (big difference)

4. Wait for more ... still need to post my blue broccoli ... :D

5. Nice English - for a German ... :bleh: :max:

@alltheothers: Thanks for any advice and notes ....

THIS is my Entry for the January Art Competition on the "Future" topic ...

It shows my nephew at my PC with an imperial walker in the BG. It is WANTED to be pixelated!

Enjoy.

swiss 27-01-2006 07:12 PM

a leaf ... a simple leaf ... I just played with the lighting while taking the shot ....

swiss 27-01-2006 07:14 PM

As I told you here it is: the BLUE BROCCOLI (with typo :wall: )

Quintopotere 28-01-2006 11:21 AM

Nature is always the best artist!

Very nice pics :ok:

swiss 09-02-2006 06:35 PM

LouReed is one of my favourites ....

Spoonman 09-02-2006 08:27 PM

Well, I don't like Lou reed, but the picture is nice though :)

Nice leaf too! I've got some leaf interpretations myself, I'll post some if I can remember where I put them.

Quintopotere 10-02-2006 03:26 PM

Good pic, but maybe you have compressed it too much!

And maybe it need some kind of borders...

bruno 11-02-2006 10:42 PM

I love the BROCCOLI....the blue is fantastic,,, :D

Yobor 12-02-2006 12:19 AM

The Brocolli pick is one of the more amazing things I've ever seen. Bravo!

bruno 12-02-2006 12:21 AM

Did you have a photo of a little fish to put in my avatar? :ok:

swiss 12-02-2006 10:07 AM

... take a lighter and it will BURN ...

Playbahnosh 12-02-2006 11:44 PM

Okay, here is the first piece of art I made. I must say swiss's work and my current feelings inspired me. I hope you will like it, and I wanna hear the "master"'s opinon about it too :ok:

This is my beloved one after I finished with Photoshop:

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e6...h/Gabi1jpg.jpg

I know it is no big deal but this is my first work of 'art' I ever did... and she is my favorite :D

EDIT: This pic was actually bigger, but that soddin photobucket resized it now its little <_< anyone knows a place where I can story my pic untouched and link them to here?

Try www.imageshack.us

Playbahnosh 13-02-2006 04:25 PM

Thanks I tried it, but my pic is 2,7 MB large so I can't upload it there too... Any opinions on the picture?

moogle 14-02-2006 12:29 AM

Its ok, not bad in my opinion, the pic looks a lil blurred, bit I think you did that on purpose, and the edges just seem a lil bit off, intersting backround though, and the font is pretty good, if a lil spotted :)

Playbahnosh 14-02-2006 10:09 AM

Wow thanks :D

The original picture is blurred, I made it fast I wanted to capture that moment and my arms were a little shaky, but the background and the font is grainy on purpose. I made that little blue shadow too, I don't know if it fits, and the font is made up of two components and I put them under the grainy filter to give them better look...

(meanwhile, take a look at my music thread, I'm about to post my latest creation :D)

swiss 14-02-2006 05:12 PM

:ok: nice work (even if it is in the wrong thread ... )

I really like it but I would highly increase the contrast of the girl in the foreground.then it would probably more interesting when you soften the background a bit. (having high contrast in the foreground and low contrast in the smooth background) but anyway good work!

---

edit:

what'cha think about this?

Sean 14-02-2006 05:21 PM

The blur is a bit weird but overall it's a nice picture. Clean and simple. Great for your first effort. One of the things that I and many others do when starting out is make everything too chaotic to try and make it look cool. You haven't overestimated your abilities. Played safe and got a decent image as a result.

swiss pwnz you tho!

Playbahnosh 14-02-2006 10:33 PM

Wow, well thanks for all the appreciation  This picture was inspired by the nice girl on it :D She is my muse now, makes me do all kind of stuff I never been able to do, like this picture. Of course I'm far behind you guys in art, but I always try to give my best no matter what :ok:

@swiss: Cool pic dude :ok: I always liked how you position the text on your images, this one looks awesome like this. I left the background dim on purpose, this gives the blue shadow some "glow" if you know what I mean, besides that is her room, so I kinda wanted it to be visible a little :D

hmm, this gives me an idea, maybe I make another pic soon...

Far behind?

No.

You're behind us (I presume you was talking about me too :P) as we've had a time to experiement. However, I think you really have a natrual talent. For your first image it's really quite clean. Shows a good understanding of making 'pretty' images. Something I lacked when first starting out. I honestly think you'll catch up to myself fairly soon and there's nothing stopping you from becoming as good as our little retouch master swiss. Just remember my artwork is HARDER to make than swiss' even if his looks better, right swiss?

MagicMaggy 21-02-2006 10:14 AM

:w00t: Your nephew at your PC looks so adorable. What a nice and cool picture. The head set makes him looking extremely cool ;)

Be sure to make your own thread. Or post in yours though. Or even post it in your music thread. :D

bruno 24-02-2006 11:24 PM

Well, it could've been better, but that's the original pic's fault. I'll give you another one should you have the time. But the pictures sure look 'artsy'.

swiss 15-08-2006 06:16 AM

something new ....

I took my time to renew my homepage.

www (d o t ) moccador (d o t ) de

I would really appreciate any comments on it. It's mainly about my photos. And please note that it is far from being complete and that it is supposed to be a SEARCH and click site ...

thanx in advance for any comments!

:)

_r.u.s.s. 15-08-2006 10:31 AM

realy NIce, pro photos you have there and best design i think was in in "summer's lease hath all to short a date..". but i had to move my head like 10 cm close to monitor to read little "spätsummer" written in white, on bright background. and im missing some "narural" back button there

Grinder 15-08-2006 02:01 PM

Yeah, the back button is lacking, but overall, I LOVE the page. What programs did you use to create it?

Himmler 15-08-2006 03:04 PM

damn i just saw your LouReed photo... it's superb
and the site is great

I know I know ... that is the next thing I wanted to add ... some sort of navigation. I just couln't think of something that seemed to be fitting into my concept ...

Simply a text editor and Photoshop ... nothing more - nothing less ...

(ImageReady for the ImageMaps and the Image Compression)
(PhotoShop itself for the design)
(the ditor and some older HTMLs for the rest)

Thanks so far for the comments!

Quintopotere 17-08-2006 06:38 PM

Well, the others before me said everything...

The site is good :ok: but with some downsides: it takes a bit of time to find the buttons... and the spätsummer2 section is a bit "confusing"
Is the site only for 800x600 resolution? It looks a bit empty

_r.u.s.s. 17-08-2006 09:15 PM

yeah maybe you should do site little more interactive, like i don't know random bugs/flowers flying over the galleries (lfor example in flash made)

moogle 17-08-2006 10:39 PM

Are you using a tablet for any of this?
Just curious.
