Deja Vu - A Nightmare Comes True
Feel free to comment and discuss this game here. Also, if you have any useful tips or tricks don't hesitate to share them with the others! Thanks!
Review and Download (if available) |
THis game kinda sounds like amnesia (my favorite textbased game except hitchhikers) Is it as fun?
|
never heard of it btw this graphic is horrible the NES version has much better
|
I have never liked games like this.
|
Belive me people, this game is great :kosta: True classic. I remember Deja Vu playing on C-64 and I was amazed - really "noir" feeling. If you love films like "Dark Passage" or "The Big Sleep", then it's your choice.
One more thing: count every penny you get, cause money are NECESSARY to succeed in this game :) |
I'm enjoying this game. It has a lovely retro feel. :)
I like the whole 'who am I' angle. Slowly piecing things together makes this game VERY addictive. I haven't played it before, but I am hooked :D |
The PC versions of the early ICOM games (Deja Vu 1, Uninvited and Shadowgate) really got the shaft graphically. The Amiga versions looked worlds better. All fun games for the day though. :)
|
There are Windows versions for both this game and its sequel; higher colour high resolution graphics and actual OS windows for the interface windows, most handy. I have them... somewhere... clutter clutter.
|
Yes, that remake is available on HotU.
|
Not remake, Win3.1 port.
http://www.mobygames.com/game/win3x/deja-vu-i-ii Ignore the desc, it's doubled from the GB version review. |
Well, whatever. Both parts included.
|
Oh, you're right, they're under the Extra bit.
|
Wow, I thought the NES version of this and Shadowgate were originals, didn't know they were remakes.
Great games though. |
To my knowledge, there is also a Gameboy Color port of this game with very decent graphics and a good interface.
|
Really good game, I've been looking for the amiga version everywhere, No luck though
|
Many, many years ago, I played this game on my brother-in-law's C-128. He placed the diskette in 1571 drive and ran it. I remember we were so astonished by the graphics that our jaws dropped on the table with a loud 'thump'. It was marvelous, so photorealistic. :)
I also remember that we didn't have a clue on how to pick up objects and place them in inventory. After several hours of struggle we finally found out that you drag them! Yay! At these times we didn't even know that there was such thing as dragging (we didn't have any contact with mice yet). :) |
Yeah I originally played it on my old Macintosh SE. I'd prefer black and white for this game anyway. It's indeed a good game.
|
Played this on the c64 a looong time ago... All i remember was a confusing game that I never got hold of , mybe time for another check on this....
|
Hey, does anybody know how to type things in? I've tried in both WinXP and DosBOX, and it crashes the game if you try to enter a text entry screen.
PS- That guest before- If you don't already know Abandonia now has a link to the Amiga version. |
I also have the same problem, anytime I click on the gray bar where menus are, the game crashes. My comp is a Dual Core 1.80Mhz, 2Gb Ram, WinXP.
|
Run the game in DOSBox. There's a tutorial stickied in Troubleshooting that should help you get started.
|
Can you help me with this game?I canīt speak with the people with dosbox
|
You forgot one very - VERY important piece of information: what is the actual problem you are experiencing.
Until you specify that, I can only point you to A Beginner's Guide to DOSBox. |
My actual problem is:When i click in the button "Speak", the game freeze, not even using the DosBox i can solve this problem.
|
Open dosbox.conf and disable MPU-401 emulation and set Core to Normal.
|
I use this solution, but the game stills freezing.
|
Reduce DOSBox' memory size. Disable EMS, XMS and UMB.
|
A fun mystery game... Too bad the graphics are only in CGA.

But, really why so obsessed with the post count? Cut the spam down, buddy! |
CGA graphics are mostly ugly.
:facts: |
This is one of my favourite adventure games ever. I prefer the NES port over the others because of it's wonderful music.
The game also was ported to Game Boy Color featuring improved graphics, so if the graphics really hurt you, grab an emulator and try this verson or the NES one. Deja Vu deserves to be played. Also there are windows ports with improved graphics of both Deja Vu games. I can upload them. |
I can't run this game in dosbox!
I tried the set of the dosbox.config but it doesn't start. Please, help! |

I can't reproduce the problem, the game seems to work with pretty much any settings and mount commands with DOSBox 0.74. |
Maybe your download was corrupted somehow? Try redownloading it and see what happens? Also, are you using a .bat or a .exe?
|
Available at Steam
This is another old game that Steam has claimed from abandonment.
