i got a problem when i try starting the game(in DosBox).
It says:
"You are 203K RAM short of having enough memory."

Well i have 512Mb ram so why is this Error messege show? :hairpull:
i'll list up the amount of ram i have in K(when i try starting the game and the error shows)
Total: 523760K
Availble: 257060K

Thanks in Advance! :ok:

My first post in these forums, HI! :bye:

Sebatianos 25-07-2005 04:02 PM

Yes. The game won't work normaly in DOSBox (I warned about it in the review). You need to download D-fend programe and run DOSBox through it.

Data 25-07-2005 04:11 PM

Weird I would suggest
running loadfix before starting the game.

Should work fine.

Sebatianos 25-07-2005 04:21 PM

Well for me the game said I need 203kb more (dosbox said I had 634kb). After I ran it through D-fend it said I have 150kb more then needed (and that that's narly :D ).
I'm not sure what D-fend did, but the same thing said when I ran it in VDMSound (unforunately it works way too slow in VDMSound).

1337Elite 25-07-2005 04:42 PM

Well it worked! Thanks :ok:
Well the thing D-Fend does is to reserve memory..
but the strange thing is that it should work with DOSBox too..hmm..

:Brain: :Brain: :Brain: :D :ok:

I remember playing this a lot on the nintendo back in elementary school days. Good times!

sim city connection 26-07-2005 06:10 PM

Wow, I remember this game from the NES. I had no idea anything came before it. Anyone remember another game called T&C surf design?

Killbomb 27-07-2005 03:21 AM

I remember T&C for the NES...don't remember it being that good though. :D I did spend quite a bit of time on the old C64 with all the titles in the Games series. Good memories...don't think I'll ruin them by playing the PC versions now. :)

Guest 27-07-2005 08:36 AM

Whoa, this game rocks! The NES conversion had a better graphic quality though.

Guest_Kat 03-11-2005 06:55 PM

Try
loadfix -210
works for dosbox :ok:

Guest 12-12-2005 12:00 AM

well i dunno bout n e 1 else, but weneva i try 2 use loadfix, no matter how much memory i add, cal games always says i dont have neough, but d-fend works a treat :D

"For being an 1988 game, the amount of competitions in a disc with only 5 1/4 is truly somthing sensational. Even though none of them are spectacular, they all do have their atractiveness (especially BMX). Graphics and sounds are very pleasant."

He wasn't hurting... and he wanted to share something nice but probably doesn't speak any english... anyway...

I played it in my Comodore 128!!! It sucks so much, but it was sooooo cool and like he said, pleasant...

Guest 08-08-2006 11:07 PM

Hey, i´ve got a problem:

I can play CG (with d-fend) but only the "Training" i cannot compete, because everytime i choose "compete in ... event" it gets to the next screen (where you enter your name and your sponsor) but there it freezes.

Do you have a solution ??

The Fifth Horseman 09-08-2006 02:17 PM

Try running it without D-Fend.

While they help people unfamiliar with DosBox, most frontends also end up causing additional problems themselves.

Guest 11-08-2006 01:49 PM

nope, wont work. without d-fend it says i have not enough memory (of course i have enough)

The Fifth Horseman 11-08-2006 02:18 PM

Are you running it in DosBox when it says "not enough memory"?

Post your Dosbox.conf, please.

Without d-fend type the command LOADFIX before running the game. It'll give you the additional memory!

try to increase memsize perhaps? Right now your dos-box "has" 16 Mb.

Guest 12-08-2006 12:10 AM

Nope, doesnt work. it always says in 201 MB short of Memory.

The Fifth Horseman 16-08-2006 03:10 PM

Experiment with lower memsize, then

memsize=4

Or try using LOADFIX.

Guest 05-09-2006 08:22 AM

i use loadfix and cannot use anything but training either, just locks up
have tried real dos and no luck there either.
it always says i have between 100-200 more ram than i need to.

The Fifth Horseman 05-09-2006 01:48 PM

Did you try that:

I have the exact same problem except I'm not using D-Fend. I also remeber that it also used to freeze on my old dos computer about 16 years ago

Can someone here please tell me how th !"#¤%"& I´m supposed to make "The high jump" at the skateboard? Tried that jump , and tried as the manual told me on the c64 , amiga and pc and never made it

Guest 19-09-2007 07:43 AM

Did anyone find a solution to that freezing problem? Using loadfix, adding even extra mem or anything else doesn't seem to work. Can practise fine but as soon as it comes to competing the thing just locks up

TheChosen 19-09-2007 09:05 AM

How about Dosbox? Did you tried that?

D-fend is no longer available on the home site. Would it be possible to upload it here so we can use it?

Thanks!

I've been trying to solve that problem too, to no avail. The following at VOGONS is a topic on the issue, however their suggested fix (CGA mode) doesn't make any difference for me (except fewer colours before the lock-up still occurs).

http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=12251

Anyone else had better luck getting this game to run (I assumed it was a DOSbox-caused error, however more and more evidence seems to say that this happens on "pure DOS" machines too... but I'm sure I remember playing this game just fine as a kid on my old 286 machine!)

Neikius 09-07-2008 07:01 PM

It never did work for me either. Even in the olden days ... Maybe becouse my first pc was 486 with vga card? I have found out that it works in dosbox if you select
Code:

machine=cga
and then run the game in cga mode ...

gumpy 17-06-2009 06:25 PM

The best of Epyx's multi sport Game series.

Ranthalion75 18-06-2009 02:33 AM

I played it on my C64. I still have it on my REALLY OLD C64 now. I still load it up and play it with my kids of 6 and 11. :-) Great game. I can't wait until they start beating my old scores. ;-)

androx 14-10-2019 04:19 PM

tandy

using tandy mode seem to work fine
