Croatian Games Forum!!!

I just wanted to create a Croatian forum when we (balkanians) can speak in private.

Kosta 21-08-2004 11:25 AM

<start croatian mode>

<end croatian mode>

sorry everyone, no important info for you here :)

Puffin 21-08-2004 03:12 PM

Pustiti sve k vragu!!!
Do vraga!!!

Laka noc, na?i.
Nego....

Unknown Hero 21-08-2004 04:59 PM

Kiddiarni 21-08-2004 06:21 PM

One thing I've learnt about Croatian guys, is that they're SO direct. Croatian guys don't even use pickup lines before getting women...8)

FreeFreddy 22-08-2004 03:23 PM

They're open peoples like the Russians too.

Unknown Hero 22-08-2004 03:47 PM

Our women are open, since we opened them.

FreeFreddy 22-08-2004 03:54 PM

I didn't mean that, you sock! http://forum.giga.de/forum/images/smilies/irked.gif
What I meant, was, that you have same open feelings like the Russians. But, perhaps, I might be wrong too...

I was just joking.

I can't judge myself, but I guess we do have open feelings and we are pretty comunicative, too.

Puffin 25-08-2004 07:11 PM

Hehe I don't speak any croatian.... :P
Just a dictionary!! :D

Unknown Hero 25-08-2004 07:14 PM

I got it when you posted your first message in this forum.

Tom Henrik 25-08-2004 07:37 PM

What annoys me with croatian is the different forms :wall:

For instance the difference in the ending of the words.
-AN = male form
-NA = female form

Let's take that example and move it to a new step.

Jest trudNA
This means "She is pregnant."

Jest trudAN
This means "He is pregnant."

The word "Jest" means both "He is" and "She is", it is the ending of the last word that decide the sex of the person. As you can all see... the last sentence doesn't make much sense, unless you happen to be carrying the Iman. (According to Hindu beliefs, he shall be born by a man).

And so ends Tom's little Croatian class.

Durak 25-08-2004 07:41 PM

Jest does mean she is and he is, but the reason they have a different ending is to distinguish between the two. Of course you already knew that, but why is that so annoying?

FreeFreddy 25-08-2004 08:02 PM

Doesn't Jest mean Is?

Unknown Hero 25-08-2004 08:16 PM

It's easier to write is pregnant than she/he is pregnant.
(jest trudan/trudna - ona/on je trudan/trudna.)

Tom Henrik 25-08-2004 08:18 PM

Because I always mix the two

Why can't languages be as easy as Norwegian

- English
-- I am
- You are
-- He is
- She is
-- It is
- We are
- You are
They are

Do you all see how easy Norwegian is?
It is the only language in that group that only changes one of the words.

Unknown Hero 25-08-2004 08:20 PM

Sam
Si
Je
Smo
Ste
Su

See how Croatian is easy. The easiest I would say.
I wrote shorter version of what you wrote up there.

Tom Henrik 25-08-2004 08:26 PM

I know you can take away the Person in the sentene, and even the "je" part. But I wanted to make a point saying that Norwegian was sooooo much cooler

Havell 25-08-2004 08:29 PM

English is really complicated, I'm glad I didn't have to learn it :D .
There are about 500 irregular verbs or something stupid like that, it's so hard that most English people can't speak it properly.

Unknown Hero 25-08-2004 08:31 PM

Blah, Blah, Blah....

I have never heard of any cool language.
BTW did you hear for Kivunjo language of tribe Bantu. I heard it's the longest and the most complicated language (I heard that one verb can be formed in 5 milion ways! It also ha 14 genders!?!?! And many other features).

FreeFreddy 25-08-2004 08:51 PM

Lol
Anyway, the most difficult language to learn that I know about is Chinese.
Also the longest language I heard about so far is Sanscrit (kind of Tibetian prayer-language). I don't remember exactly now, how many letters it has, but it's around 100-150. 8)

Unknown Hero 25-08-2004 08:53 PM

It's old Druid's language from India (16th century B.C.)

FreeFreddy 25-08-2004 08:57 PM

The Bantu-language? It's not that great wonder that it's such complex as you say, as India is one of the oldest nations in the world, too.

Tom Henrik 25-08-2004 08:58 PM

I'm learning Cantonese. It's one of the biggest languages in China. It ain't that difficult.

I just wished I would study it more.

Puffin 25-08-2004 09:12 PM

I'm studying Hebrew.... but the accent vexes me, because the "r" is the opposite of the icelandic "r" Israeli's laugh at my accent!!
Anyways, I'm majoring in languages, so at school I'm studying Icelandic, English, Danish, Spanish, French and German, then I'm studying hebrew by myself  I'm not sure what is the coolest, but I think that of those I study at school Spanish is most difficult.... I suck in Spanish!! :(

Unknown Hero 25-08-2004 09:16 PM

Coooooool man!
The only language I learn at school is English. I could choose German, but I chosen more Math and Informathics.

TheVoid 25-08-2004 09:46 PM

I speak Italian, French, English, and I'm learning German(i'm studying it for 4 years). This last one I found the most difficult, even though i was on stage in Germany for 10 days (Dusseldorf).
Don't need to study Spanish, is pretty much like Italian!

Puffin 25-08-2004 09:58 PM

I really should learn some basic italian, that would help me a lot in my music..... But Spanish isn't really my thing, and I've only taken 2 french classes, actually, and I'm not sure that Roman languages are my thing... Although Germanic languages I find pretty easy... And my hebrew REALLY SUCKS
But I really try my best.... I'm not called Lulu Lovelips because of nothing

But tell me, Croatian, what other languages is it related to?

Durak 25-08-2004 09:58 PM

Get back on topic!

Croatian is the best!

:D

Puffin 25-08-2004 10:02 PM

I was on topic. I was asking for informations about which languages Croatian is related to

FreeFreddy 25-08-2004 10:04 PM

Croatian is actually related to the family of Cyrillic languages, like Russian or partlially Polish.

Puffin 25-08-2004 10:10 PM

It is?? Wow... cool! But it has latin letters.... that's interesting, actually! I had no idea!! :P

Icelandic is related to most of the Nordic languages (Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and Faeroese). Because I speak Icelandic and Danish almost fluently, so I can understand a bit Norwegian, Swedish and Faeroese...
So I'm wondering, is Croatian that related to Russian and Polish? So, Freddy, do you understand Croatian for example? Just wondering...

Havell 25-08-2004 10:12 PM

Well being an English speaker doesn't make me any better at German, Spanish, French, Italian, etc.

Durak 25-08-2004 10:16 PM

Yup, English sucks and is full of exceptions.

FreeFreddy 25-08-2004 10:16 PM

Quote:

So, Freddy, do you understand Croatian for example? Just wondering...
Only some words that sound similar to Russian, actually if I would hear someone speaking Croatian, I would understand around 10-12 % of it only
It is it's own kind of language, formed itself in other way than Russian in all the centuries, keeping only small similarity to it.

Durak 25-08-2004 10:17 PM

One of my friends just recently moved to Germany...wish I could learn Russian. But I want to learn Croatian first.

Croatian language is based on Slavenian (not Slovenian) language. Just like Russian, Polish, Romanian, Bulgarian, Slovenian, etc. Croatian, Bosnian, and Serbian are pretty much the same languages (It depends of place where do you live, and of dialect spoken in that area).

Decalies 26-08-2004 06:36 AM

Romanian isn't a Slavenian language, is it?

FreeFreddy 26-08-2004 06:53 AM

Re: Croatian Games Forum!!!

It's called "Cyrillic".

Re: Croatian Games Forum!!!

Quote:

nope. cyrillic are Serbian, "Montenegrian"(does it even exist???), Macedonian, Bulgarian, Russian... their writing is based on the writing tought by Ciril and Metod - hence the serbian writing is called "cirilica" as well as russian probably.
Croatian, Bosnian (again does it even exists?), Slovenian are written in latin writing like other european languages. In fact Croatian and Slovenian grammar is closely interlinked with Czech grammar.
after the dissintegration of Yugoslavia a lot of Croatian as well as Serbian words were changed into new words to differ the langauges more (right? ). there was a big difference between these languages once before but later it became less apperant because new words that came in were usually used by both nations.
As for my (Slovenian) language it has some similarities (mostly wortds) with Serbian as well as with Croatian. but grammar structure is completelly different. it's a bit harder because of the doubles (special forms/endings for two persons). if you read very old english you will find these forms in it.
the easiest langauge i've heard of is Indonesian. they basically speak like Tarzan: "Hello, me Gregor. Do you go school?" i find it interesting.

FreeFreddy 26-08-2004 04:45 PM

"Hello, me Gregor. You go to school?" in Russian  It's also quite easy, but has many vocabulas / words to learn.

Talking about funny, Nice, easy, interesting (etc) languages my short (Kiddi) means Chair in some kind of Swahili i think...

But..isn't this a CROATIAN forum? :P

Unknown Hero 27-08-2004 11:02 AM

I guess I made a mistake writing down romanian language with other slavenian languages. Slavenians were tribe, not letter like Cyrilic. Then they splited up all over the europe. So Slavenian language is root of all languaes I wrote in my previous post (cept. romanian I think). Got it now Freddy?

FreeFreddy 27-08-2004 11:57 AM

Sure. <_<
Now you explained it right, too. ;)

Cyrilic languages? You people really know what you're talking about.

Usput, ja sam pokrenuo ovaj hrvatski dio foruma! :ok:

Unknown Hero 28-01-2005 06:37 PM

Tom Henrik 28-01-2005 06:56 PM

Hey hey hey... people...

We have talked about this before... No foreign jibberish. We have a translator forum for that use.

(I'll just lock this topic down, since all the other language-based topics are closed. No way the Croatians shall have all the fun  )

The Niles 28-01-2005 07:02 PM
