I luv cats! Go Kitty! Go kitty!

Sameeralord 17-07-2005 01:01 PM

Go dogs :ok: . They are so faithful :ok:

Sean 17-07-2005 01:10 PM

Dogs it is.

Cats just go out and come in when they feel like it, no respect!

There kinda of like some teenage children.

A. J. Raffles 17-07-2005 01:23 PM

Hmm, actually I like neither cats nor dogs in general; I like individual cats and dogs, really. Like my own cats or my best friend's dogs. But that doesn't blind me to the fact that there are cats and dogs that are nothing but vicious smelly little monsters whose idea of a joke is to slobber all over you and then pretend it's a sign of affection.

Indignus IV 17-07-2005 01:31 PM

Dogs are great, cats are too high maintenance. They sit and lick their paws all day and get crabby if you get near them. They just want to be fed and pruned.

And they have lots of babies when you arent looking.

My mom has a chihuahua, actually. Very cute, very loyal little dog.

Doubler 17-07-2005 02:04 PM

I like dogs, but I like cats better :D
The usual cat is so much more independent. A dog, THAT'S high maintenance.
The only thing high maintenance about cats is earning it's trust and love :)

Indignus IV 17-07-2005 02:12 PM

Well, let's analyze:

Dog needs:

good food
good water
place to sleep
weekly bath
love and kindness

Cat needs:

good food
good water
place to sleep
weekly bath

They are so independant, they don't need love and kindness. Dogs are willing to happily give love to their owners, but you have to work at it for cats.

Thats why I like dogs better.
The End.

Doubler 17-07-2005 02:14 PM

Scrap 'weekly bath' under the cat's section (Cat's are very adept at washing themselves), and add 'attention' :D
Anyway. I wasn't critizing you. I only explained why I like cat's better then dogs
To clarify my previous post: I like cats better, because I like to have a pet's affection for a reason other then me being the boss.

BeefontheBone 17-07-2005 02:27 PM

Cats rock (plus I accidentally null voted:( ) - I like the way they only hang around humans because it's easier :D

Frodo 17-07-2005 02:38 PM

I don't really have a preference with cats and dogs.

Cats are easier to look after, because you can just feed them and then leave them to it. They are very indipendant. Dogs want constant attention. :D

People say you don't choose a pet cat - the cat chooses you :bleh:

@ Magic
It surprises me that you prefer dogs, when your avatar is a cat (no offence). :max:

Havell 17-07-2005 02:50 PM

Cats.

Cats are agile, clever and can fend for themselves if they need to.
Dogs are incredidbly stupid, they'd jump of a cliff if you threw a stick off one and yelled "Fetch!". Also, I would find it impossible to live with a dog, every time you go around a dog owner's house, it absolutly stinks, they also have to put newspaper everywhere and you can't keep anything on the floor or on little coffee tables or it'll just get slobbered all over and ripped to sheds.

Sean 17-07-2005 02:51 PM

Male.

Anyway

Actually, cats have the worst smelling poop.

I can't choose one, I'm used to both. Dogs are a much better company if you're looking for something active and loyal, the independency and elegance of cats make them a better pet if you don't have that much time to deal with a pet.

omg 17-07-2005 03:56 PM

you can train a dog to defend your home. you can train him to get you food.
but you have to walk him evryday for 30 mins to an hour depending how old and fit he is (and the size of your garden)
cats are cool also though. i have a lot of respect for street cats who just laze around scamming food off of people. and a proper cat will kill and chase off vermin, also young cats will hunt down flys in your house.
cant choose.

Shunk Eat Enemy 17-07-2005 03:58 PM

LOL i got 5 cats and yes they do kill flys my one cat isnt a kitten but after he kills them he crys LOL

mm_pie 17-07-2005 04:09 PM

Cats Rock. :sneaky:

I have a 19 year old (yes, thats right 19 in human years) cat and she is great. She is a typical torty with attitude. She refuses to drink from her water bowl and insists on drinking straight from the tap. Most people would say mingin, but i have no other option and i luv my cat so much that idont really care. she is a nice clean house cat. I have include a pic with this message. :tomato:
I hyave lots of friends with dogs too, but it is the attitude that makes cats absolutely superior in every way. :tomato:

Go Kitty!

ReamusLQ 17-07-2005 07:15 PM

Dogs, because they never grow up from their puppy mentality, and while cats are adorable as kittens, they become not as friendly as they get older.

Doc Adrian 17-07-2005 08:45 PM

I have one of each and both have good and bad points.

My dog is very nice but very needy and I wish she could figure out how to work a bathroom herself. If I go on a long trip though her wagging and happy little yelps when I get home make me feel like someone is happy I am back from vacation.

My cat can be sweet when she wants to be, but normally ignores me and likes to knock crap off my cabinets and tables, so I don't put anything expensive where the cat can get to it. But she is not very needy at all and takes care of herself except when I clean her litterbox once in a while

The Hamster and the Fish like the dog better though...she doesn't jump on cabinets and get close to cages

Quintopotere 18-07-2005 11:52 AM

I prefer cats because of their indipendence... anyway i prefer leave free th animals...

Danny252 18-07-2005 04:28 PM

my dog is the best. On a hot day, just leave the back door open and she'll go sunbathe for a bit, lie in the shade, then have some food/water, whatever she likes. She also has a ridiculous green squeaky baal. When she carries it in her mouth it always hangs out one side.. looking like a massive green boil ^_^
she loves you, really..
also has a thing for music.

Stroggy 18-07-2005 05:06 PM

Well I prefer cats. Cats won't automatically love you, you'll have to work to earn it's trust, but once you have it's trust a cat is a great companion. At first cats do scratch but as they get older they just tend to give you a warning when you're annoying them (like slightly putting their claws in your hand our closing their mouth around your finger without actually biting. Cats can be lazy but they don't require as much care as dogs.
I had a cat but he died last year in april, I finally convinced my parents to buy a new cat so we're going to buy one either this week or the next.

here is a picture of my old cat, whenever we took him to the vet he would whimper and say "wawa" all the time. He once accidently swallowed a sleepingpill and slept for three days on my bed without moving and he nearly last one of his legs three times!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...lZym/tigri.jpg

I'll post a picture of the new cat soon... hopefully.

oh and since this is my first post in two weeks: hi, it's nice to be back!

DakaSha 18-07-2005 07:25 PM

i dont like choosing but id have to say dogs because of the undertitle:

"are dogs really mans best friend"

yes they are... period. but cats can be pretty dang cool too :D

@mm_pie

that cat you have as an avatar looks just like mine :D.... but mine is the stupidest animal ive ever seen... she got in a fight with some carbonated water once and lost... stupid friggen cat. she tried to attack the water from the right flank and not even that helped... eventually she just gave up

Sebatianos 18-07-2005 07:33 PM

Just today I saw two cats laying on the road (dead)... You don't see that with dogs (at least not here).

Cats are more... well... diabolical. When they look their cutest - they are ready to scratch!
Dogs don't give out false signals - if a dog is happy it licks you all over and if it's angry it let's you know.
Cats are probably more intelegent, but dogs can be trained better.
A dog gets more attached to the owner (I'm talking about an average dog and an average cat) so they can also give more love - cats are more selfish.
Have you ever read or heard about a cat saving somebody's life? Dogs are capable of doing that!

I'd go for the dogs - they don't scratch!

Stroggy 18-07-2005 07:52 PM

Dogs bite, I still have a scar left from when I was little and my babysitter's dog attacked me... then again it was a Dobberman.

mm_pie 18-07-2005 07:55 PM

And cat bites dont hurt as much as dog bites coz they're small. Anyway, the true evil inside a cat is far more lovable than the true evil inside a dog.

Danny252 18-07-2005 08:00 PM

what true evil in dogs?

The homework-eating kind of coarse.

mm_pie 18-07-2005 08:03 PM

Dogs have a true evil that nobody understands. Cats only kill flys and certain kinds of evil birds. Dogs kill everything that is smaller than them. :blow:

Go Cats! :band:

evil birds? like robins, thrushes and anything else that doesnt escape? o and voles and evry mammel that is basically smaller than them.
my cat used to jump across the space between garages when she was young to try and catch seagulls.

Stroggy 18-07-2005 08:14 PM

Seagulls are evil, that's one of the things I found out in the last week.

omg 18-07-2005 08:19 PM

true seagulls can get pretty nasty. robins arnt though. cats are bstrds.
my great grandmother had a tame robin that would come into there house to scam food. the nieghbours cat killed it. it started a lifelong hatred of hers for felines. even in her 70s she would chase them out of her garden and away from her bird table with her walking stick.

Sebatianos 18-07-2005 08:22 PM

Did anyone here read The Plague by Camus?

There's a lovely passage there about an old man, who always tore paper in tiny pieces and threw it over the balcony to the cats. When they'd be jumping up to catch the shreads of paper the old guy would spit on them.

Now that's feline hatered.

Shunk Eat Enemy 18-07-2005 08:26 PM

birds are always evil why my one cat is afraid of them the bird was actualy chasing him LOL

mm_pie 18-07-2005 08:34 PM

i know what you mean, myn is a housecat and occasionaly goes outside. if you put a dead bird in front of her she wouldn't know what to do with it! LOL
Because u r the cat's slave any food you give them must be chopped up, put in gravy and served in a dish from a felix pouch.

Stroggy 18-07-2005 09:25 PM

I always found cats to have more of a personality, more human. My grandmother had serveral pets, 2 dogs and two cats (one after the other) I remember one dog and one cat. The dog would just hop around and lick everyone and was trained to sit and roll and do stuff like that, it was a fun animal but it had little personality. Now the cat was just like my grandmother... I remember the cat well, it was a white cat with one big black dot the shape of a heart on her back. We called her Mazzel (which means luck in hebrew and netherlands dutch) but she would always be gone for days. Once she came back smelling of tobacco after being gone for two weeks. That was one crazy paranoid cat.

Wow, someone other than me that actually reads Camus.

Classic Pig 19-07-2005 08:24 PM

:bye: I like dogs! they taste just like chicken...

Ok seriously - I don't like most dogs as I was once bitten trying to break up a dog fight. I don't trust them and quite frankly don't enjoy their smell, piles of poop and noisy habits. Dogs slobber, drool, suck up and have no backbone (unless they are trained to have one and then everyone watch out!).

On the other hand cats are low maintenance. They are agile, svelte and elegant. They eat less, bury their poop and clean themselves. And one thing that no matter how hard they try to dogs can't purr!

Yay Cats Yay Cats!!

Danny252 19-07-2005 08:36 PM

Dogs Slobber: No, not really, not mine. Unless you really make her excited.. :P
Dogs Drool: Nuh uh...
Suck Up: Nope.. She gave me a hella grumpy look today.. and headbutted my nose... it bled..
No Backbone: No, quite solid.. I can site on it.. not for long before she moves off.. or sits so I slide off..
Smell: Bar the breath (tuna-flavoured) no..
Piles of poop: Either at the side of the path in the bushes or.. in the bushes. and we didn't train her...
noisy: She barks at the postman because she knows he comes. thats it. well, maybe snoring..

you know, cats and dogs are both nice, and serve different purposes- you come to a dog for protection and love (the platonic kind), and you come to a cat for pest control and warmth. I have both, and I'm pretty happy this way.

Shifter 20-07-2005 12:09 AM

Dogs smell. Cats don't (not counting the litter box)

DakaSha 20-07-2005 06:33 AM

I find it amazing that this poll seems to be almost completely balanced. :D

DakaSha 20-07-2005 09:57 AM

I would never say that dogs are better than cats but dogs are just plain mans best friend... and come on!!! dogs have ALOT more personality than cats... cats just seem all arrogent because they are too stupid to notice what the heck you want from them... at least half the time...

it makes sense to... dogs are social animals and that requirs more brain development when it comes to typical human like stuff. so in that respect dogs got to be smarter... doesnt mean they are smarter period though...

somebody here said he has a cat and a dog and that both have there own good points and bad points and hes 100% right

but dogs ARE mans best friend period... no doubt about it... we even fill in eachothers gaps when it comes to hunting and everything

vipin 20-07-2005 10:45 AM

I love cats bcoz they are so sweet! The way they say MEOW MEOW its just fantastic. But actually cats are not faithful! When its comes to love, dogs care for their masters. Cats, as such, don't like caring for them.

But I am crazy the way cats are! Just fantastic. they are great to play with (if they agree to play with you :bleh: ) otherwise dogs, no doubt, really love their master!!!

Thanx

Execpt mine who does a funny wonging sound, rather like somebody hitting a brass gong. She normally starts about 4:30am until you get up and feed her. To be honest it doesn't bother me as i have to get up at 4:45 for work anyway. It makes a far better alarm clock than a normal one, (which i normally sleep through). Another cute feature of my torty with attitude.

Stroggy 20-07-2005 03:16 PM

Most cats grow used to the time their 'owner' wakes up and start acting like an alarm clock. Mine just came into the room miauwing and went to stand next to my bed and look at me, after that he either jumped on the bed and fell asleep again or he would miauw a few times more and go away. Best thing is he never did it during the weekend.
I miss him, I hope I'll have as much luck with my next cat.

mm_pie 20-07-2005 03:34 PM

Actually yes, i forgot that. She leaves Saturday and Sunday out of the routine. Only a few sundays get the clock rarely.

joelinator 20-07-2005 08:11 PM

looks like dogs win

A. J. Raffles 20-07-2005 08:20 PM

I don't think so. They've been in the lead several times, but so have the cats. It usually ends up as a tie by the end of the day.

Shifter 20-07-2005 09:23 PM

Brilliant! Because of this topic and my genious mastermind I have come up with the ultimate pet. I will be rich and rule the world!

It is called:

a Cog, or maybe a Cag, Or Dat...well name pending.

But it is the precise and perfect genetic blend of a dog and a cat, creating the ultimate superior being (in the pet world)
