big-screen version of Doom has long been mooted, and may finally be on the verge of seeing light of day, with Universal Pictures setting up the production in Prague.

Doubt it would be very good, not much of a good plot for a movie.

If it becomes similar to how Resident Evil was made and adapts the story of the FIRST two games (Doom 1 + 2, I think, some details were better, especially the monsters looked more originally), it could become something. But I don't think it could beat the Lord of the Rings movies in their popularity.

Me wanna see Twin-SG, Chainsaw and BFG in action! *L*

Yeah! I want to watch a movie about pushing boxes around, jumping on them, and then finding out I didn't press the right switch so I have to go back to do that but die on the way going back! Awesome!

Worst idea ever.

If they can make a complete movie about a woman shooting aliens and make it a gigantic succes.
Doom, in the right hands, could become a rather good movie.
In the wrong hands, or simply the 'average' hands, it'll become a boring movie with nothing else to it but action

I'm afraid the movie could even be a succes - think big profits, but probably it will suck big time.

Well, let's hope that it won't become a failed movie when it comes out. :wink:

The worst thing about a Doom movie is that there will be no naked ladies in there. I mean what is a action movie without some moist and tender skin of a 24 year old beauty queen? Sure they could add her regardless but then it would not be Doom anymore. It would be just another sci fi movie about an alien invasion of demons into a space station with a naked lady. Now that could be nice to watch I know but we would all be wondering what that had to do with the title.

Well, the lady could be ripped apart by the demons just as the hero arrives to see it... :twisted: That way it's still possible to see something and let the movie being original Doom-movie.

The woman could be the mad scientist, hah!

Half life would be good. they could use story form 3 view points even 4.

Wow, all I know is Doom had one of the worst plots ever, but that was ok cause it was a shooter game, and you don't need much plot for that. If they made a movie, I'd probably laugh through the whole thing! I really hope they don't make a movie, there are so many other great video games that deserve to be put on the big screen! Also, if they keep making crappy movies based on video games, it's possible we might never see some of our fav. video games on the big screen. Let's hope this Doom movie doesn't make it past step one!

hahahaha, I get ya, one of those "I'll wait for it to be shown on tv" kinda movies? I understand now, :wink: Still does anyone get what I mean when I talk about bad movies in a certain genre killing the genre? I mean, look at superhero movies right now, they're all the craze. But if you get a few more punisher and hulk type movies made it's possible that hollywood will realize how hard it is to make a decent superhero movie, and they'll move on to the next "Big Movie Theme". I think if it wasn't for movies like Spiderman and X-Men we might never have seen half the superhero movies that were created. I just hope that if they do release Doom it doesn't kill the possibility of other Video Game based movies from being released. Hope that makes enough sense...

Well, like said above, Resident Evil became very good one. Doom is relatively similar genre (horror), so it might be not that bad after all.

You thought resident evil was good? I guess that's were we misunderstood eachother, I thought that movie was awful. Hense the reason I said if Doom goes bad, it might further ruin that genre of movie. Either way, I highly doubt doom would ever make it on the big screen...Now adays there are very few producers who are willing to gamble on a movie, and as far as I'm concerned Doom would be a definate gamble.

Perhaps Lord of the Rings-trilogy was the last great movie of our time made by genius... Who knows? Still, about Doom-movie was spoken already since 1995, so it simply had to be made someday... And as more and more movies today become worse, one bad movie more woudn't ruin anything...

*caugh* Duke Nukem? Naked ladies? Action? nooooooooooo...... don't think so :wink:

Wow! I wouldn't touch a Duke Nukem Script with a a ten inch stick, :wink: . I would like to see a movie based on some of the sqauresoft games, those are worth the investment...or how about metal gear solid? That would be TIGHT!!

I would like to see Monkey Island movie :wink: That would be funny... but weird.... I once (many MANY years ago) heard a rumour about MI game... David Spade was supposed to be Guybrush :D And James Van Der Beek (Dawson, from Dawson's Creek) was also named :lol:

But Da Vincy Code is awesome :D That would make an interesting movie....

Who said that MGS was too flat of a plot? Have you played the sequel, that whole game was 100% pure story and plot twists. Come on, I think it would make a great movie, and besides,as I recall this post was started about Doom the movie...trust me if they can make a movie out of THAT thin plot, they could deffinatly do one on MGS. :wink:

Max Payne 2 Is a NICE story...The game is more a movie than game :P

I agree, Max Payne is an example of a game that would be a good movie. Cept Max Payne always struck me as a game based on movies, so it might be a lil redundent...
