I love this game it is really great but no matter what I do i just can not beat the king

I could hardly drive the damn car, :wall: but it was an addictive game.

This game is single-handedly responsible for my undying wish to be the proud owner of a Corvette Stingray (although nowadays I prefer the '68 model over the '63 in the game).

Seriously, I'm right now looking for one and it's all because of Street Rod 1.

when i go to race the bottom of my screen keeps blinking and i cant move... can some 1 tell me whats wrong

:bleh: it is easy to beat the king. just hit his car in the start so then his car will crash :evil:

I beat the king.
All it takes is a good car and the cutting of corners, really.

The fastest and easy way for me to beat the king is to get a hot T-Bird.
Racing tyres will be fine but it's not necesery upgrade.
Choping the roof and removeing the bumpers however is needed.
All you need to do with that car is to tune the engine and it's good to go 130 miles per hour.
Enjoy the clasics guys, there is nothing better then playing NFS Underground's grandfather today :bleh:

When i buy a used car my money decreases but it's not in the garage? What the hell...

Hey dudes, i'm searching the entire web for a patches & extras for this game. I mean, it could be really cool if there are more car models or stuff like that to download... I guess there is nothing like that? Please help me in this :help:

Dude, there was a wicked cheat for this game where you buy a cheap car, strip it down to just the body and sell it for any amount you want!!! I forget which model though. It was an ugly beast.

its chevy 2 styline or something like that and u cant get more than 200 000

It's just a copy-protection mechanism for the game. Most likely the game offered for download here is already cracked so the color-question is just plain useless.

The cheat is go buy a chevy styleline for 475 dollars and take out the engine and transmission in it. then sell it for 30, 000 dollars. He will say, you must be crazy! Ill take it

i keep blowing my muck up is there away u can stop it?

If you talk about blowing up your engine while racing with a manual transmission, you need to practice shifting gears.
Or better, get an automatic one. You don't really need to manually shift gears to win the game.

The game is so easy....Beating the king is so easy too. Heh i won him just getting past him on the straight road - my max speed was better than his :D the game ise awesome ...ll part is a way harder....mulholland drives are sick, i always smash i car before the finish at the mountains:S

I finally beat the king after only 15 years!
By the way, when you buy a car you have to click on the bar above the clock, then select the car and click switch it. The car will roll into the garage.

i've been hooked on this game since it i was 6, i only own one copy of it nd i found out it's been destroyed since... if anyone has a copy i would be very happy. although it's taken me a long time ta track down a site where this game can be found. i didn't even know there was a street rod 2! email me at (my guest name) [at] hotmail.com plz, if ya want ta discuss.

Just practace alot man, when you reach the king try saving, the trick on the road race is to be able to do it with out slowing down.

Long time I couldn't beat the King with my bro but I found one car that is really great ;) Well it was piece of junk but when you worked on it and bought all the best muck to it, it wass the best.

So i found the car, bro beat the King ^_^

I thought of this game a few days ago, and looked to find it on Abandonia, just for nostalgia's sake, and i really enjoyed playing it again!!

I beat the king in 718 hours (game time, that is. I suppose i played about 2 hours real-time). Anyone beat that? ;->

First, buy a cheap car, upgrade as much as your bankroll allows you to. Try to win a road race. You don't want to race for anything less, because you need the money, and racing for less will cost you more money than make you; besides, you can't really afford to lose anyway, so why not win the big prize. During the first race, you might want to note the order of turns and obstacles, this can give you a big edge when cutting turns and might save you some crashes.
If you won one race, choose the fastest car of the two, sell the other one, sell all parts and upgrade it as far as possible. If it goes 125mph it's good enough. If not, you got to be a little bit selective about your opponents. Win a few more pink slips, make some money and make sure you always have a car at hand that runs about 125 or (preferrably) more. If your car is really fast, you win a few drag races (this should be really easy now, so don't damage your car more than necessary). If they don't dare to race you for 50 bucks, just race for fun. At this point money shouldn't be an issue anymore. Make sure your car runs 129+, because you're about to race the king. (-:

A few notes about racing: When passing your opponent, always "gently" bump into him, as this will slow him down and makes passing him easier. Don't get too caught up in this. ;->
As mentioned: the road is always the same per game. Note for the turns on which side you want to end (eg, if a turn left is followed by an obstacle on the left side, use the turn to get to the right side of the road, if the obstacle is to the right, keep the inner side of the turn).
Listen to your engine, it'll tell you when you're ruining it. Also, the racing transmissions are way fastest, so in a fast car you'll have to shift manually. Stay out of the 'red' except for the beginning of the race, where your main goal is to take the lead. At the rest of the race, your goal is to keep your speed as high and constant as possible, without wrecking your car. If that's not good enough to beat your opponent, you've got the wrong opponent or car for this opponent.

Ok so i downloaded the game then it prompts me to choose a color or whatever. Then it goes full screen and black. It plays the music but does nothing else. Whats up?

It seems you are trying to run the game in plain Windows. I strongly suggest you use DosBox instead.

Man, how I liked that game :)

The racing part sucked, compared to games like Test Drive etc, but the "pimping" and tuning was a lot of fun...

Maybe I'll try out the second part, never had a chance to play that one...

this game rocks! Im competing with my friends in trying to finish it as fast as possible. so far my record is exactly 400h (about 30min)! I've found that the best way to complete it fast is to buy a cheap piece of junk and do it up for the rest of the money. Race this piece of junk only for pink slips (dont tune it or do anything to it at all) till you have enough dollar to buy the '63 corvette. Keep racing the corvette in drag mode (having stripped the bumpers) and only do it up if you notice "the king" in the opponent list. When he pops up you have to restore the car so that its new (also save the game at this point). Make sure it can do 130mph and youre guaranteed to have a 500h time o less!

Is there anyway you can turn off that annoying sound? The one that the computer makes without speakers? It gets on my nerves.
I know you can stop the music by clicking on the radio, but all the other sounds are still there!

when you double click your volume control panel it has a "PC speaker" slider in it

what is the best way to start? already with rpms on the start or from zero? I was trying several possibilities and sometimes i started almost as good as the king, but cant really repeat it.

I've downloaded it from here(Abandonia) but I keep getting the message of not compatible... find out whether it's a 32 or 64bit system and contact publisher.

Any ideas on how to get past this so I can play this game again?
