I can't believe google is worth more than Time Warner and Disney, I mean Disney people... (but then again I use google every day, which is more than I can say for any of the disneys products, OK it's not a good comparison) |
80bn... wowee...
|
What, you mean you can live without your daily fix of Bambi?
|
Or indeed Alice in Wonderland?
It would take a stronger man than I to refuse that... |
For me it's usually Dumbo, but it does occasionally vary. Think about it though, almost everyone who isn't getting their internet access from AOL (*spits into a bucket reserved for this purpose*) uses Google on a near-daily basis without even thinking about it - I know I do it automatically. It's attached to your browser (my search field defaults to google, and I've just noticed it carries dictionary.com too, which is handy...), there are google ads everywhere you look (this site for instance) and they also provide my primary email account. The word google has entered the language as a verb, and very few products ever manage that, particularly not in such a short space of time - hoover is the only one I can think of off the top of my head, and that's less common these days with the rise of Dyson. I'd bet google's consumer recognition levels are getting towards being as high as coke and mcdonalds, and again it's in a very short space of time. books have been written about the phenomenon, and Dave Gorman did a hilarious show (and book) about Googlewhacking - it's all-pervasive, and in fact it's one of few such brands I don't resent (Coke, Mcdonalds et al.)
Edit: I could read Through the Looking-Glass on close to a daily basis no problem, but the Disney film is horrible. |
And also google has expanded quite from their original service, but that's what every big company needs to do so that they could grow, but the fact is all those services are mostly beta, and allready they are very popular(froogle, gmail, google maps)...
|
Well its undeniable that google is one of the finest search-engines on net.
I used altavista from the day the internett was introduced to me, but changed to google soon after. Google has (by mistake mostly) enabled me to find many intersting web-sites. Abandonia included of course. |
We're making history. When do we get our share?
|
Yeah that doesn't surprise me too greatly I always knew they were big, but now I know they are really really big LOL.
|
IMHO google is overestimated.
I say this because i think that the ads of google are not so working... how many of you bought something found by an advertising of google? I never did it and probably i'll never do! Perhaps in the future they will gather less money from ads and they will be extimated less... |
There are what 1 billion internet users on the world, let's say 1%clicked on the ad and bought the product... (you do the math)
Ofcourse numbers are bigger, and it's not just the google ad, you have to pay so that your page appears first, now just think how much is it payed for the most searched word on the net? |
You are right, but i keep my opinion that it's overextimated :D
|
The share price mostly accounts for future growth, but during the internet bubble so many internet companies were overrated that the market crashed, NASDAQ still isn't on those levels...
