Now I re-realise how difficult it was/is !

I love this game! I used to play it a lot but then I had problems with the hard disk and never played it again!
It's been great to find it!!

It doesen't work on my comp. :angry: I have Windows XP. Is that the problem?

not necessarily. compatibility specifications for prehistorik 1 say that the game
should work on xp. if you should experience problems, you might give dosbox
or vdmsound a try...

Sorry, but it´s an awful game in my opinion. I prefer PREHISTORIK 2 (1993) and the much better JOE AND MAC - CAVEMAN NINJA (1991).

I don't have music or sound in this game using DOSBox.
Any special configs I should know about?

I remember playing this game in primary school, it was like one of the first games I ever played on the PC, this game brings back memories, oh the joy!

Well, dang it. I tried Pre1 today, after years and years of not playing it, and couldn't complete it! They finally got me near the end of the seventh (and final) level :(

This game will always have a special place in my heart, as it is the first TRUE game I've ever played, and one of the hardest nonetheless.
I remember when I first completed the first level :) and the thrill of discovering what lay beyond, all those silly penguins and stuff :)
It CAN be completed in under 20 minutes, if you know what you're doing :)

This is my firt post!

The game lacks sound and when it loads to the second stage it freezes. I am using Windows XP and Dos-Box 0.74.

The first time I played this game was when I was in High School, maybe 15 years ago, in computer lessons, after all work was done, this game was in the hard drive, with Wacky Wheels, It´s hard and I reached the last stage but I died, but It´s a fantastic videogame!

This shouldn't be happening.
Please describe the exact process you used to run the game in DOSBox, step by step.
Did you get your copy here or on another site?

Hello, thx for your fast response!

I downloaded the game from here Abandonia, and then I unzip using 7zip, the I open the folder and drag the executable to my desktop Dos-Box icon and it runs. I don´t use any command, only drag the icon to the Dox-Box icon.

Then I downloaded it from another web just a minutes before and it runs with sound (PC speaker through the sound card) and it doesn´t freeze in the second level loading screen. I don´t know why it happens.

Had to get this for my fix of cavemen platformers, kind of reminded me of the Flintstones games for NES.

Both this and #2 are sold at GOG.com for some time now.

I thought this was a DOS game. Too bad I can't play it, XD
