Maybe it's an idea to send the people who are having their birthday a pm instead of creating a thread here. What do you think of that ?
I think it's much more personal then replying to some topic in the blah blah blaaah forum. |
plus it saves a bit of space, too :D
Yup that'd be smart, cause half of this forum is hb threads(not that I don't post in them)...
Good point, Data! We just choose one poor abandonian who will be given the job to send PM's to the people on their birthday in the name of whole Abandonia... :sneaky:
Haven't we had this discussion before.
No, the previsous dicussion was on whether we should make a sticky thread for birthdays. Personally I like the Happy Birthday threads, they're little slices of anarchy that make this forum fun. They also sink to the bottom fairly fast so they don't really get in the way of anything.
You know what I could start another one right now. LOL
I like Happy Birthday threads too....
But it look like all new birthday threads will be mysteriously deleted... :adminpower:  |
you want to be careful comparing the admins to hitler. ken livingstone, eat yur heart out!
How about deleting the birthday threads after a set amount of time? Say 2 weeks, or one moth. Not sure though if that could be coded into the forum software, or if a mod had to manually do it.
I don't know...
When I first joined abandonia, there was a new birthday thread for Indie... I guessed it's just a regular thing and most of the regular members got their thread. These threads do sink really fast, so I guess there's no real harm in them, but they are fun and show people that their birthday was rememberd (except for Kosta's... he deleted the notice it's his birthday... - BTW it's on 18th of January... The thread is still there  ). |
I think
1) The threads should stay. Its always fun to see someone out there took the time to make a silly thread for you, but... 2) people should stop making threads for members who are never (or barely) active! |
Same as stroggy. I like the birthday threads.
I'm for H-B threads.
Another vote for keeping B-Day threads. :ok:
keep the birthday threads alive! :D
Save the birthday threads, where else will I get my cake from?
I too am for keeping them, because I feel it is always nice to see a thread just for you! If we made a sticky b-day thread, or just PM-ed them, it wouldn't feel as special. They sink after about a day or two, so they really don't clutter, and I think they are one of the main reasons why this board has such a friendly atmosphere.
I think the birthday threads are nice. Everyone comes out with the :Brain: and the :band: and the :happybday: and the  and the
It's so nice of everyone. :D And as previously said, its a thread just for you! |
I don't mind birthday threads, but only for people that're active here and have proven themselves as part of the community, one way or another. Thought that was what the previous discussion's result was, too.
hmm... i kind of like the B-day threads i mean they are kind of cool and i would appreciat a whole buch of people sayin happy B-day then a PM from one or 2 people.
GO B-DAY THREAD :ok: |
Liken FlightorFight said and Kon-Tiki.
When someone is having a birthday, they get a liittle thrill from seeing their good wishes and birthday greetings. These threads create good will and are a fun thing to read for others, too. |
Exactly, it's a great way of promoting the fact that we're a close community. Making things more personal is a great way to have the members know that they are cared about here. :)
Keep them HB-threads! I like them! As long as they're in BlahBlahBlah anyways!
Well here is what i think:
When you create a birthday thread, the next member that views it feels compelled to post. When you send a PM, you might be the only one who sends it, which wouldn't be very nice ;).So either we organise ourselves for every birthday, with PM's, or we stick to threads ;) |
Exactly. :ok:
I am for keeping the Birthday Threads :ok: :D
