Official AB Smiley Competition Thread!
 

Ok, we have gathered a small list of themes we want smileys for. The list is:

Angry
Blowing up
Crying
Death
Embarrassed
Games
Guybrush Threepwood
Joking
Jolly Roger
L O L
Love
Members
Ninja
Oh my god!
Raving
Smile
Sneaky
Three-headed monkey

So:
It's now up to you Abandonians to design Abandonia's new smileys. Make as many entries as you wish (editing your post for new entries is recommended) and label them so we will know what theme you made an entry for.

When the competition ends, we will vote for the best for each theme, and the winning entries will be replacing the old ones we have now.

I'm guessing this competition will be running till the end of April to give you enough time, but do feel free to hurry up and start designing what you think would be smileys with the soul and spirit of Abandonia!

I want to make it symmetrical, but I can't find some symmetry tutorials for Photoimpact. :oh: They could've just mentioned what button deals with symmetry, and it'll be all easier.

EDIT: Uhhh, the white outline looks terrible. Guess, I need to work on it some.

TA, your pheonix is superb! Photoimpact? How big is the final file? I think mine are too large in kilobyte size also. Bobbin also has some excellent ones. Puts me to shame.

Is it possible to have smooth alpha blending on smilies?

We had the idea earlier of making a smiley that was like :owned: but said [On FTP] and [On Site].
So it could be used instead or as well as [On FTP] (unless you can think of another use).

Don't know if it would have any use beyond a little graphic for the people who update the site or submit games and reviews and stuff.
I'd like to have one to use, though. Maybe I should learn how to make them.

I have no idea how to make a smiley... Claire probably does but she is busy at work and doing the majority of the invaders banner.

I'd use these all the time when submitting new games and reviews, etc...
(Maybe not for every single thing, but for lists... They're good Headlines, IMO.)
I guess that's my sense of fun, though - I prefer that to the other things here.
I'd much rather use one of these smileys than type [On FTP]. etc...

Is there any point in any of the stuff that's made like this on the internet..? I've got a book with a whole appendix of acceptable smileys used in BBS chat string$.
Even little dragon sigs.

If it was another motif, would it still have been told of irrelevance and its perceived uselessness and valued priority brought under scrutiny? Having curiosity that lies in this area, to know would bring great satisfaction.

I think they're pretty cool. You've got my vote - should I ever have to vote or be granted suffrage.

Now, whenever I upload a new game, review or extra - I'm gonna us the smiley rather than the brackets.
