Looking for the names of two games.

So, a very long time ago, I was at Big Lots, don't know why, and saw three games. One of them I've identified with my budding google skills as Netstorm:Islands at War, which seems to be freeware now.

The other two are being less cooperative, I've tried to google one but got nothing, and the other, my info on it is so vague there's no way I could google it.

The first one is a first-person game where you can play either as the forces of Heaven or Hell and fight your way through the opposing afterlife. From the screenshots on the back of the box, the graphics appeared to be 3d, but not very good, with very Catholic-looking angels and demons(Angels perfect, statuesque people with white robes and wings, demons big, red, ugly, with horns). That's really all I know.

The other game is a 2d fantasy RTS, the only thing I know about it is that you can apparently play as demons, I remember a screenshot of a demon running across the wall of a castle. That's all I know about it, I don't expect anyone to know it, just taking a shot in the dark.

I also doubt either of these are abandonware yet, this is simply the only forum knowledgeable enough in this field to find the names of these games. This problem has bugged me for literally years.

Could you please be more specific about when that was?

I _think_ I remember reading about a game like you describe in #1. Will have to dig through my old game mags to find the article in question, though.

The graphics on the first game appeared to be about '98 or '99 era, if I remember right. I went to Big Lots probably in like 2001 or 2002.

Messiah is the first name that pops in my mind, but I never played it so I could be completely wrong here.

The first one might be Requiem: Avenging Angel.

The first one could be The War in Heaven. Mobygames has no screenshots but Paper Street Games has some, along with the blurb "Unique approach to religious education." :amused: The game is also sold there.

Could the second one be Dungeon Keeper?

Dungeon Keeper indeed seem like a good guess for #2.

That was it!! A winner is you!

The second one wasn't dungeon keeper. The game was outside, had a vertical point-of-view, and was very cartoony in appearance. There's really not enough evidence for anyone but a super-powered gaming Loremaster to identify the game.

Sorry, but even I can't help you. :amused:

[edit] Let's begin with Magic & Mayhem. [/edit]

The few clues suggest that it looks something like Warcraft, so I'll take a few guesses.

Blood & Magic, War Wind, Kohan, Age of Wonders? Although the last two are not top-down, but isometric.

Blood and Magic might be it, but I'm not sure. Oh well, I still know where that Big Lots is, and I doubt those games were going anywhere...
