Stonekeep [GoG]

Is Interplay's Stonekeep abandonware, just curious?

Chz :),

littleguybrush 24-02-2005 02:45 AM

I couldn't find it anywhere on the net either. Although I did see something called "Interplay 15th Aniversery" which includes Stonekeep (and Fallout, which is awesome). Speaking of Fallout, while looking for Stonekeep I stumbled upon e-cdrom.com where they have Fallout 1&2 for $5. Thought I would give you guys a heads up on that one since Fallout gets mentioned (and requested) on here pretty often.

LordHogFred 24-02-2005 02:56 AM

Cool well in that case I may look into uploading Stonekeep if people want it?

rabadi 28-02-2005 12:19 AM

I just read some review on this game. Sounds interesting. Unfortunately, I don't think it is an abandonware.

Jim6 14-03-2005 09:37 PM

I'm fairly certain it is - what with a long battle I had with them trying to convice their support database for the game out of them; no, they said that it was unsupported.

(I got it in the 15th Anniversery pack, which is no longer sold to the best of my knowledge)

JJXB 14-03-2005 09:50 PM

interplay don't even exist now as far as i know (serves them right for breaking up black isle studios :Titan:)

DonCorleone 15-03-2005 12:01 AM

Hmm, the-underdogs have a buy-it flag on this game. So I think it isnt abandonware, yet.

That hurts... itīs a really interesting games!

Jim6 15-03-2005 12:04 AM

... until it crashes when you get to the monster on level ~4 and there's no way to get it to work on your graphics card

... might play it again someday though...

rabadi 15-03-2005 12:05 AM

Yup, HOTU has the "buy it" link. Unsupported <> abandonware.

-What's the <> mean? (Not-equal-to?)

But yeah - and I'd say that it's unlikely to ever run out of stock either... Ah well - lucky I have it anyway! :bleh:

samtam90 29-05-2005 06:09 PM

Is Stonekeep abandonware? If yes, where can i find it?

Unknown Hero 29-05-2005 10:54 PM

No, it isn't. :not_ok:

I hope it will soon be.

I, too, am hoping that someday Stonekeep will be abandonware. However, since it is from Interplay, I have a feeling it will be a very, very long wait.

EDIT: Oopss... just saw that Interplay is listed under ESA Companies (see http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5511), so I don't think this site will host it anyway.

iratefive 30-05-2005 02:09 PM

Funny thing about stonekeep....I found a USED copy at EB Games here in Canada. They wanted 59.95 for it.

Great game but 60 CD for it no way LOL

Eva02Soul 22-11-2005 03:32 PM

Does anybody else remember the first-person RPG Stonekeep by Interplay? If it's abandonware (i'm not sure) it would make a good addition to the site.

If it's by Interplay, it'll be ESA-protected.

DonCorleone 22-11-2005 04:53 PM

Even if it wasnīt ESA protected - and it definately is - it would be much to huge for the

site cause of three cds...

Eva02Soul 23-11-2005 01:28 AM

It wasn't three CD's, it's one. I know because it's about a meter in front of me.

Sorry for that failure of mine. Donīt know how I came to the conclusion it had three

cdīs. But it isnīt worth to battle about that cause of the ESA protection. :bye:

What i've come to find out is that Windows takes a great portion of the RAM in your system..

And when you try to run stonekeep..

The RAM that it needs is being used by XP

But.. i haven't tried this myself

But i heard that if you change your appearance settings to Windows classic style..

It will provide MUCH more RAM to the system and stonekeep MAY work.

But thats just what i heard

:D

catchaserguns 19-10-2006 03:07 AM

I've got 1G of ram so your answer isn't valid in my case. I went to the website and downloaded it and no way i could install it. I tried Dosbox and that did not work. And I tried using the frontend that came with the game and nothing worked. If someone could download this version and tell me how to get this thing to work I'll be OK. I'm running an Athlon 64 with 1 G of Ram and I still have 100G of freespace on my harddrive.

bobson 19-10-2006 07:10 AM

I have a Duron 1Ghz, 382MB ram, and i do not have any problems with playing Stonekeep on my XP+DosBox. I have original CD, and I do not use any DaemonTools or other stuff to emulate CD. MAybe something is wrong with the cd-image or just try to burn the CD. Maybe something is configured wrong in DosBox ??

It may be the image then..

Sorry XP users

>.<

thebes 20-10-2006 12:15 AM

I downloaded it from another site but have not tried to run it yet. I have the disk and played it before. Fun game! Really enjoyed it. :D

Xikarita 21-10-2006 02:30 PM

It doesn't work, I've tried using DOSbox and WinXP in compatibility mode...nothing! I wonder if there's a patch somewhere that enables the game to run? So far, all I've found is an old patch provided by Interplay. Needless to say, it doesn' work either... :not_ok:

Haven't i said it most likely wont run in XP?

Try running in Win98 if you have a dual boot

catchaserguns 21-10-2006 08:37 PM

Isn't Stonekeep ESA protected? Anything by Interplay is supposed to be ESA protected. Games that are ESA protected are NOT Abandonware.

I think it can be considered abandonware, since Interplay is now extinct (check out their website).

catchaserguns 21-10-2006 10:55 PM

It is not considered abandonware according to this site. Abandonia respects ESA rulings thats why they won't let you download ESA protected games on their site.

But you cant get it anymore
Therefore, it is abandonware

^_^

catchaserguns 22-10-2006 07:25 PM

If you don't believe me send the administrator of this site an e-mail and ask him. I could be wrong but let the guys who run this site make the final determination.

Zarkumo 20-11-2006 07:43 AM

Well, this old warez thingy on the Abandonia main page says it is abandonware. :w00t:

So... can you load it up? :sneaky:

The Fifth Horseman 20-11-2006 11:11 AM

This depends on the size of the game. I remember something being mentioned about Stonekeep being a full-CD game.

Also, please do not necropost. This thread was decomposing on the bottom of the forum for a year... and I've got a really sensitive nose. *sniff* *sniff*

You're the boss, but I do not understand why. There was obviously new information on the topic. Why start a new thread on the same topic?

I have a source that tells me the game, once installed, took up roughly 30 MB on the hard disc, but I do not know how much there was left on the CD. Maybe someone who owns the game can tell?

Saphire 20-11-2006 04:02 PM

The game is full CD size, I'm afraid. The data installed on the HD is just for starting the game, but almost everything else runs from the CD.
Speaking of which, I guess you would have troubles to install and get the game to run in DosBox as I have - there's no way to get it to run once installed, it doesn't find the CD no matter what tried, and hangs.

DonCorleone 25-11-2006 05:45 PM

I tried to run the iso of this game using dosbox and daemontools a few month ago and it ran quite good

bobson 16-12-2006 07:37 PM

I also played it some time ago, and I had no problem with DosBox.

After compression full CD is nearly 400 MB, and without the biggest file containing voices its still over 150MB

Tom Henrik 17-12-2006 01:02 PM

Then it is too big, I'm afraid.

bobson 17-12-2006 06:41 PM

If you want to put it into VIP section, or something, I can still upload the image :max:

Tom Henrik 18-12-2006 11:52 AM

Since it is AW, sure. You'll have to PM Kosta for that, though.

Dave 05-09-2007 10:44 PM

Stonekeep (1995) by Interplay Entertainment Corp.
Finally it's Abandonware (OWList)

zoleytaylor 30-09-2007 06:19 PM

please give me a link where i can download this! it is the only game i want to play with. great memories... thanks in advance :)

Dave 30-09-2007 06:27 PM

The game is abandonware, but I can't give you direct links, search at the "home of the underdogs".
Approved here: http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?s...mp;hl=stonekeep
That means we will put it on site.

Stonekeep [SOLD@gog]

Hi there!
I've got a full CD version of Stonekeep. Checked this in the oldwarez list and found it listed as abandonware. Considering that's quite a unique cinematic adventure and sadly quite underrated one, it would be great if it's available on Abandonia. What do you think?

_r.u.s.s. 25-10-2008 12:57 PM

that'd be neat for iso cellar

The Fifth Horseman 25-10-2008 01:17 PM

Oldwarez List is out of date on the subject. Stonekeep is currently in the inventory of GOG.com - while they are not officially open for business yet, the game will become unsafe as soon as they open (which can happen anytime now). Obviously, we have to avoid such risks.

There actually was a Stonekeep ISO in the ISO Cellar, but I have removed it about two weeks ago along with several other games currently sold on GOG.

Roger Wilco. Better safe than sorry. By the way, this GOG.com is quite a place to find some oldies. A pity games sold there are only download versions 'cause I would really want to lay my hands on some of the old box releases.
