What was the price for Civilization II !?
I would like to buy download too

You can't buy games at Abandonia.

Did you use the "Make a donation" button (from another non-protected game page), which is for donations only?

Please support us by donating! It will help us improve the site even further and keep it alive and kicking. All income is strictly used for paying the server costs. Thank you very much.
There isn't a download for Civilization II because it's still protected by ESA (Entertainment Software Association) and we don't want copyrights problems.

The price for Civ II is $14.95 on Direct2Drive.

This is the 1999 re-release version with add-ons. D2D is pretty good for finding some older games that are still for sale (cheap). And you download them direct to your hard drive.

It would probably be more helpful if you asked Direct2Drive for help.

Here's their support page.

All that we have downloadable is free.
If something is not downloadable, it's for very specific reasons and whether you donate or not will not make one jot of a difference.

You paid somebody through PayPal for Civilization II. To whom did you send the money?

You and the web page stock wanted to download the game? Who is this 'web page stock'?

Dave 11-03-2008 05:09 PM

This situation remembers me about AB's leechers...

Eagle of Fire 11-03-2008 05:24 PM

Yes, I remember once reading a thread about how illegal sites are simply cover fronts which ask for money for access to direct download we offer for free on the site. Not only do they ask money for something which is free, but they also leech our bandwith without giving us credit and without the abused person ever seeing the review and the site.

That would be dire news indeed.

Sebatianos 11-03-2008 05:24 PM

Might be, there are still some evil sites out there, that collect a payment to get the download link - and then just leach, by connecting to other sites... Might be, yes.

Dave 12-03-2008 03:03 PM

If it's a leecher, well, ushakked should tell us where and to whom he sent the money.
Do you think we should contact Kosta?

Frodo 12-03-2008 04:39 PM

I wonder if it was this site - http://free-game-downloads.mosw.com/...ization_2.html

He stole my review for Return Of The Phantom, as well as the walkthroughs I made, the manuals and map I uploaded. And he charges for stealing this work.

I mentioned this before, but it was decided then that nothing would be done.

Lulu_Jane 12-03-2008 05:00 PM

*edited because I misread something*

My apologies :)

Dave 12-03-2008 10:16 PM

I remember our favourite Leecher...he has stolen material from several Abandonware sites...:oh:

I think he meant "stuck". As in, did not react.

Hmm... I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone was doing that. :worried:

AFAIK, it's no longer possible. The new system does something that changes access paths to the files every few hours.
