I have one suggestion to the site admins.I saw in one other Dos site one very cool and I think not very complicated effect,but very effective.Here is : snowflakes falling on the screen.It`s so cute and give the sence on cosiness in the cold winter days.Not to say how cool it`s to see the snowing outside and inside my PC. :D and I`m in warm room of course. :tomato:

Isn't that some Flash-thing? Could be Jscript too... anyways, what he means is that, while browsing Abandonia or the forums, you can see snow falling down on the foreground. Kinda like alot of those Freewebs sites have.

Hmmm, Runescape does it on it's main page and in Fallout the pipbuy changes to say things like "Happy Easter!" and "Happy Valentine's Day!" on the appropiate days. I think it would be good to change the logo of the site to different things depending on what special day it is (like Google does).

Hmm... what if we made this into a seasonal competition?

Every season (easter, halloween, christmas.... and so on) users can send in effects they have made. Effects that are connected to the site and the season. Like the Abandonia logo with lots of bats and pumpkins for Halloween.

The effects could be anything on the main site.

People send in their work by mail to the admins, who then choose the winner. Of course we should have gifts for the winner and runner ups.

Then when the choice has been made. A topic is made profiling the winner and runnerups, and all the other images. Of course complete with name of the creator.

What do you guys think?

This picture consists of three parts, so you can right-click and save the picture-part above, and the two above and below slices. Though I cannot attach pics right now to show, but you can save them all three. ;)
The other names of parts of pictures are: 31.gif and 11.gif

I'm using gradients so if I slice the images and change them one by one the gradients don't match, like this:

I had another one with confetti and such... but I couldn't get it right.
For as long as I can remember i've spent new years eve in big ballrooms, black tie parties, and everything either a mix of silver and gold, which my picture basically mirrors. So I don't really know how others celebrate it. From trips to the city after new year I do know lots of confetti and cheap booze is involved.

Now there is a lot of firework throughout the year here in Antwerp so I don't associate that with new year.

There's a lot of money shot into the wide blue yonder here too and at every occasion, but nothing beast freeziong your arse off, being half drunk and staring strait up (being dizzy enough already) and saying oooooooooaaaaaaaaaa everytime somethings makes pop and the sky lites up.
