Found a strange error when answering to the quiz , its this game http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/67...d+Snooker.html
so i typed the name :
Jimmy Whites Whirlwind Snooker

and got this answer :

Is it a bug in the quiz script ? :confused:

Make sure you refresh.

I think sometimes the old screenshot can be cached when the quiz updates, meaning it displays the old picture when it should be displaying the new one.

Yep, happened to me too. It never reloads the image unless the user manually refreshes the page.

Then the fault is of the site using the same file name for the quiz - the code should create a random name so the browser will always update it. I had the same problem happening.

You can refresh just the image not the whole page, right click on the image and select "reload image" or whatever exact option depending on your browser.

Will there be any other possibilities to earn pieces of eight?

Almost certain there will, but what and when are still a mystery.

I take it that writing reviews will do it. I'm still up for reviewing games - got sidetracked with James Bond Stealth Affair before :P started to review it but I needed to get further in the game and didn't have the time back then.

note you need to press ctrl+refresh icon in IE to actually get the quizz pic to refresh. :-/

Today's screenshot quiz is quite trivial, seeing as the game's name is spelled out right on it :P

I have a suggestion, Please let us know the real name of the game when the answer wrong (it can become more educational).
I haven't had any luck with this. in the begining because of the refreshing picture and sometimes wrong guesses, i suppose.

The rank system is bugged anyway - apart from getting some wrong because the pic didn't refresh at first, I got them all right every day and my rank has been up and down. I've been from 19 to 12 to 17 to 13 and now 16?

It's 3am, two hours after the screenshot update so I doubt many have entered the right screenshot yet so why was I number 13 when I answered correctly yesterday and 16 now? Sounds like there's a bug somewhere.

however it is a bit odd as the first sorting is on points and the second on first letter

So if someone gets to 60 points later then you, but begins with a letter earlier then yours then that someone will be before you on the ladder

That explains - silly system. Everyone with the same score should have the same rank. The R is rather far in the alphabet so not really fair ;)

The rank is the same.
Only the position into the member list is in alphabetical order.

Then how come I drop so much in rank despite not having had a single answer incorrect - I was 17 yesterday right before midnight, and now i'm 18 and still 8 hours to go before midnight. Seems odd unless someone waited until the very last minute to answer.

If I remember correctly Abandonia Quiz is not the only way to earn pieces of eight...I think the system is still under developement.

If you change the quiz time, you should also change the quiz clock. ;)

Ahem...this time was really easy...but when I answered the right name it gave me:
"Unfortunately, your answer was wrong!"

Annoying bug
 

That's sad true, but quiz has a bug! I voted correct, but I saw that answer was wrong :mad: . I'm cleaning everything in Firefox before voting (entering site) every day, so I was very suprised :eek: what happened to me.

Ditto. This happened to me too...and Im pretty sure it happened to everyone else.

It happens to me too, but that's probably because I just keep guessing the wrong answer :p

Hey everyone.
I've read in diagonal the posts in this thread, cause the game is quite buggy. I always refresh the image to make sure it's the latest but still the answers come out wrong when they are right. It has happened three times already,with the Indiana Jones game, Laura Bow 2 and one other i dont remeber. Is it being fixed?

some times it works some times not, but who cares if you have fun,

No, Laura Bow 2 ist still displayed for me! :notrust: I guessed that one correctly and the picture hasn't updated since. :weird:

CTRL + F5 to reload ignoring whatever is stored in browser cache.

Just a question about the daily screenshots; Are the answers always the full name of the game, or just the short name? The quiz is supposed to have a drop down box when I type, but even when I'm sure I know the game's name and I'm typing it in, nothing happens. I've screwed-up quite a few times because of that. :(

I've had trouble with the drop down box on occasion also. If you go to the game download page and copy and paste the game name into the box it will match what would have been in the drop down box.

Another option is to type part of the game name and it will fetch you the options then you choose it. This works perfectly to me.

The drop dowm box only appears when the page is fully loaded, if you start typing before the page is fully loaded it does't seem to work.

Yes this is true, i always wait until it loads completely.

Looks like the quiz is out again...answer was F.E. but told me I was wrong...thanks for looking into it in advance!
