The Niles 10-04-2004 07:41 PM

Spam... so annoying.

Titan 11-04-2004 12:50 AM

I actualy (i think atleast) caught them the day after when generating new once, and banned thier entire IP-serie... hopefully that will keep em out for a while.. Sent an Abuse-mail to the domain-owner.

muaddib 13-04-2004 09:29 AM

The porn members strike again

Danny252 13-04-2004 09:57 AM

!!!!!!!!! 8 porn members alert! they have #'s and %'s! banned indeed!

The Niles 13-04-2004 10:08 AM

Yes they have struck again. How can anyone have fun when doing something like this? All they get is a topic like this on the forum and some bannings. Who's behind this anyway? A random asshole or is someone pissed at Kosta?

muaddib 13-04-2004 10:59 AM

It's just some kind of automatic script

What are porn members?

Omuletzu 14-07-2004 12:42 PM

LOL :D
Porn members are inactive members that join a forum only to adverise their site(porn site of course)

Braindead 14-07-2004 05:22 PM

can't you ip-ban these members so that you can avoid new porn members?

Data 14-07-2004 06:49 PM

I recall some sites have some numbers in an image check to verify you are no script

unclefester 14-07-2004 08:48 PM

But that would make us manually log in every time we wanted to post sth.In my opinion, this really sucks

Havell 14-07-2004 10:28 PM

Data means when you first register, not every time you want to log in.

Kosta 14-07-2004 10:42 PM

Yes, I could make the forum member-only, BUT that would also carry one other unwanted effect. If every person that wanted to ask a simple short question or leave a comment had to register, we would have thousands of inactive members now. I wish to avoid this. I'd rather have a small active member base, than a large one with only a few people actually being active.

The Niles 15-07-2004 06:42 PM

Thousands is an overstatement but I see your point.

Good point. I have never looked at it that way.

Never seen that. Mayb because this the second time I've register in a forum :?

Omuletzu 17-07-2004 12:20 PM

@Unclefester it is a quite popular method actually
If you are subscribed to yahoo mail, then you have filled out a form with this protection. That's the only site i remember right now, but there are a lot of sites that use this protection

Havell 17-07-2004 12:40 PM

The Underdogs make you use it every time you want to download a file.
