Me and my mates have played SSBM for quite a while now and have some serious battles.

Anyone else play it hard? eg: wavedashing, shffling, cancels etc.

What character do you use and levels you like?

Me and my friend always play free for all with 5 lives against 2 other computer of max level. We are pretty hardcore, and when we are both in good shape to play it can go on and on and on... Only thing I hate about this game is that sometime the game is bent on killing me with items. We play with handicap you see, and I often am at handicap 2 or even 1! Which mean that a single item falling on your head can kill you in a breeze... :unsure:

My best character is Captain Falcon, followed by Pichu, Peach, Mr Game and Watch, Kirby, Mario, Dr Mario and Bowser in that order. I think I am not forgetting any...

I really hate playing with Marth and Roy, as well as with Samus.

Edit: Oh, and you can't call yourself an "hardcore" SSBM player before you've at least beaten level 51. ;)

Im useing falco now but used to play with Dr mario, sheik and falcon.

Try Youtubing some of the pro matches its just crazy how fast and perfect they are!

I think the new one is going to have net play, I hope so... we could have a game!!

PS: I cant believe you like kirby and pichu!!! they're so useless!!!! LOL

Well, Kirby is easy to get smashed around like a big baloon... But you should really try Pichu. He's so small he dodge half the blows and he's quite deadly. Of course, you need to know him well to be effective, and the fact that he hurt himself with all his attacks is annoying... But he's a nice advanced character. :)

BTW, I've beaten area 51 with Fox and Captain Falcon. :) I'd never consider using Jigglypuff ever... :unsure:

But Jigglypuff has that sleep attack that can practically kill you in one blow.... Man, haven't playe Super Smash Bro's Melee in a while, since I'm waiting for Brawl. I never really tried doing all the technical stuff, like canceling and such. I just used my reflexes, and my intuition to win.

I never saw someone use the sleep attack of Jigglypuff effectively... When you know what to expect, you just don't get had with that kind of trick. You just evade it, and kick the crap out of Jugglypuff while she's incapacited. :P

I love Super Smash Bros. Melee, it's gotta be one of the best fighting games ever (and one of the few I like), I just think it's a shame it doesn't have online play, as I think that this is one of those games that would be perfect online.

just to randomly jump in - I can't believe you guys hate samus.

Hate samus?! thats a bit rough... shes not my cup of tea but not that bad.

@Gary Oak the new Smash bros is online. You can play random matches against anonymous opponents. or with your friends and send short messages when you taunt. Should be great.

I'm the one who said I hate playing with Samus. I should add Yoshi and the Climbing Brothers too, though I never play with the Climbers anyways.

What I don't like in Samus is the big array of long range attacks and the strong cheap shots. Try hitting a full charger beam when you're at handicap 2 or 1, and see if you'll stay there for long. And all what the other guy have to do is to stay clear a few moments, charge up and fire away while you're busy dodging something.

At least DK charge attack require him to get up close and personnal before he kill you... :whistling:

Also Kongo jungle and N64 DK map. cuz I like lots of platforms for sheik arials.

Cant stand the moving levels though....

I like pretty much all stages, except for Samus stages and maybe the polygon stage too. It's too easy to get hit by lava and die even at 0% when you're at handicap 2 or 1 in Samus stage, the big rock with the monster on the background stage is annoying like hell when it moves and the computers set to max are impossible to overcome, and I dislike the polygon stage because it's a little too small. Hard to hide or get away without running into another ennemy... Again, at low handicap this become a problem fast. Also, Mr Game and Watch stage is really annoying too, because of the tools which rain down once in a while and which can also kill you in one blow.

Since I play mainly Captain Falcon, I have no problem whatsoever with stages which are pretty fast or move around much. Got to hate the camera angles sometimes though, the computer opponents don't mind getting off camera because they know exactly where they are... Not us. :(

I like every character I didn't mentioned... It's simply that they stand between those I dislike and my prefered characters. ;)

I've been seconding C.Falcon for a bit now. Generally flying around kneeing and sort hop arials to piss of my friends. It such good fun kneeing someone off the edge and then spiking when their on like 50 damage!!

As for fox my mate plays him well. A small fast and deadly character makes me hate him more than like him but I guess Im a little biased!!

Me and my friends play that game very competitively. I use Fox, one friend uses Marth and Mario, and my other friend (who is really good) plays Falco/C. Falcon/Samus. The level we always play? Final Destination. We are playing Brawl now, I am really liking Lucario.

I was never very good at the game, I’m a bit better with the new game though. I usually played as Marth or Roy, and the level I always played was Final Destination and just about all the other levels that don’t change and move around all the time.

I love SSBM and I was so excited to play brawl online but its soooo laggy, even with a usb lan adapter its not playable in a competitive way :(
