Are you using the file Runme.exe to run the game like it says in the review? If you are then you could just try typing in a random number (the game may be cracked).

runme is cracked so just enter any number

Ok, to get this sucker running smoothly. Shoot the cycles up to 6-9k and change the memory from 16 to 32mb (It's easy enough in the DOSBox Frontend: D-Fend)

Just use RUNME.exe...then it's ok..

Humans.exe is not cracked :sneaky:

But for all: Nice that you like this game so much....when many people wanna have it we can also place Humans 2 + 3 on the site :ok:

i found the spear but how do i pick it up?

Use the BUTTON: Z

WHen got it...you can change actions with SPACE BAR...

When wanna jump or throw Spear use Z and hold it longer to give it more speed!!

thansk for the help in picking up spear now i am stuck on seconf level what action do i use i get them down? I have no idea what the control are for this game.

All controls for game:

F1 t/m F8 are selecting HUmans...

Z = picking up/action

Space Bar = Switching actions...

In lvl 2 you should take a spear....select the option to jump (with space bar!!) and then use Z to jump over gap (holding Z to jump far) ..

When you're on the oter side select throwing spear (with Space bar) and Throw the spear back with holding Z...

And so you can go down....step by step

:help: :help: :help: I finally got all the humans down to the bottom after like fifteen tries and I still haven't beaten the level. What am I missing?!

I forgot to mention that I'm only on level two.

At that moment....stand next to the block..

Let 2 Human stand on eachother and so 1 human can walk over it...

Then stand still for a few SECONDS on the ground where you can see a RED spot...between 2 little trees...

I know it really suckes....but that's the way HUMANS want it...i also found it out with luck...

ok when i start the runme file its just a black screen and nothing comes up whats wrong? help!!

I remember playing this game about ten years ago and getting quite far. But now that I play it again I can't even get past the first level. I got to the spear at the left screen border but can't find a way to get back. Any hints?

How can i pass level nine? I took the torch, i took the spears but i can´t finish this step. Tahnks for your help.

A little help, the second level has a red square thing at the bottom. But what do I do to it? Am I just ment to get all my little humans onto it? If so a little pointer on getting the last one across would be good..hmm I've just had an idea.. anyhow any comments on that would be great.

It is worth mentioning that the zipfile linked to here is useable only by those who happen to be running a modern version of Windows, even though DOSBox can be used by virtually anyone (MacOSX, Linux, FreeBSD users, etc).

It's a dissappointment to download what looks like a good game, only to discover that it is packaged as a self-extracting RAR archive that can only be unpacked on Win32 systems.

Trouble Unzipping Humans
 

Hi all,

I'm having trouble unzipping humans on my mac. It unzips the file into humans.part1.exe and humans.part2.rar. Then I unzip humans.part2.rar and that leaves me with an empty "humans" file. How do I fix it? I wants to play!!! Do I have to get a more different expander? I'm using StuffIt expander right now.

Perhaps it's your Mac that's the problem :mhh:

Give it away, buy a PC and your unzipping should work perfectly! :tomato:

It's a self extracting WinRar archive from HotU .... means a windows executable, doubt that will work on a #@#@#@#@#Mac.

As said before: ask someone on a normal computer (AKA PC) to do it for you and copy the humans folder on a USB key or so .... or let it mail it to you, it's only a 2.6MB after extraction.

I love this game since I was young. Very happy to find it here. I love it so much, I even enjoy reading the lame jokes on the manual. I did download the instruction guides on this site. Like to know if anyone do have the a copy of the entire manual. (meaning including the lame jokes!)

I realize these are all old posts, but I just found this game in my garage and reloaded it on Windows XP. I can't get it to start up. I tried it in compatibility mode in Windows 95 and was able to get it to start up but it stalls out on the copy protection code page since I can't find my own manual that had those codes (and no luck finding it online either!)

I tried downloading this version, and when I click on the runme file, the screen goes black for a very short bit and then the screen just comes back to the main windows desktop. So the downloaded version I can't get to run at all.

So let me know if you have any ideas, or if anyone out there has the old copy protection code sheet, let me know!

Thanks, I downloaded DosBox and am going to try that. I did get the game to finally run on just Windows XP by tweaking some of the compatibility settings but interestingly, when I run the "runme.exe" file the game starts up and still asks me for a code and won't just accept any number as is mentioned online here. Really odd, so I still can't play it. I'll try it in DosBox and see if it runs any better, maybe the Runme file will work better there. I wish I could remember some of the code numbers associated with the pictures, this would all be much easier. I'm still looking for my old manual, hopefully I didn't toss it.

Just tried DosBox to run the game, and got it to run through there but when I start the game using the runme.exe file that is supposed to bypass the copy protection page, it still won't let me enter any old number and boots me out of the game again. Seems like maybe the runme.exe file might not be working. I'm going to try downloading the whole thing again and see what happens

I just downloaded the file, extracted it (why it is a HotUD version I don't know we should see about getting that sorted...by we I mean me) and the runme worked. Remember to enter a 4 digit code.

I downloaded the game again, and tried to re-run the runme.exe file in DosBox and this time it finally worked! Now the game is running. I just need to tweak it some more to get sound and I'm all set. Thanks for the help!

Run the install file and change it to soundblaster and you will get the wonderful sound. Just another thing that needs to be changed in the archive we host.

Okay some news for the people who like this game we have updated the archive onsite so it does not use the Home of the Underdogs extractor and instead is a normal zip. The sound settings have also been fixed to be set to Soundblaster so you no longer need to edit that either.

To get past the copy protection use the runme.bat file in Dosox, have fun and enjoy.

But after the level where i got the torch, the games said game over and i would have lost the race for evolution. what do i wrong ?

Hey, I want to run HUMANS in a windows 7 enviroment, how can I do it? I have W7 64bits...

It is literally at the top of this thread page.

I was looking for this game for so long!!! but now I am having problems to install it, someone could help me??? pleeeeease!!!
When I try to install a message appears saying something about a diferent version of Windows (32 or 64 bits), that means that it will not work in my computer? :(

I just download DOSBox and it seams that it will work but now it didn't acept any code to start the game, what I need to do know??
