It would be nice to have some more text sizes, as this is currently the smallest. Many other forums have the option to change the text size even smaller than this and I have experienced that it's quite usual. The ways it is used, are for example when someone is making a survey the respondents can write the actual answers in normal size and details with smaller size, so the enquirer can just grab the actual answers for the survey very quickly without having to read the whole text. Another way is when you want to make a text which is unable to read it but you can copy and paste it to Notepad for example. It sounds very unnecessary, but you can use it when you want to say your critical honest opinion, therefore the smaller text size would calm the actual meaning (like smileys do). So it would be great to have this option. I have spoken

Are you sure about that? There is smaller text than that.

Japo 07-03-2007 09:59 AM

Anyway your browser should be able to let you change the font size of any site.

i think he means when posting. like this

kaali 07-03-2007 11:24 AM

Yes, that's what I meant JJXB. I'd like to have the option to change the size of this text I'm typing and posting to very small. So that everyone sees it as I see it.. I change the size of the following text to size 1, by:

This is small text.

Yep, it's smaller, but what I am looking for is even smaller text. In some forums even size 3 is so small, that it's pretty impossible to read. I'd like to hear some comments from moderators/admin. Thank you!

I agree with Kaali here, I see this thing in other forums and it's quite nice (and useful). But I don't think this could be possible I know from some sites that host forums that they don't have these options, if this could be done it would have been done years before when the forum was created.

When we post spoilers we use white text on a white background. But if your "critical honest" opinion is so outrageous that it must be hidden --still everybody could read it so I don't really get it-- then I bet it will be beyond this forum's flaming rules. Just my opinion though.

Why would you want to do that?

Can't you do that on a regular basis?

What?!
Sorry guys. I don't get your point.
1. Serious / personal stuff -> PM (Personal message... :sneaky: )
2. Complaints -> PM an Admin or put it to Site comments/suggestions
3. Critisism -> make up your mind: How do I phrase my critique in a way everybody understands and that is not flaming or troublesome?
In an adequate manner that still expresses your degree of being upset.Or go back to 1.

OK? :ok:

Dark Piedone 07-03-2007 05:00 PM

As far as I know this forum is made in PhpBB and there the minimal text size is this, so what kaali suggested is technically impossible.
Anyway it would have been nice if we had that option, even if 90% of us will never use it, but to know that is there that you can have that option and use it. In other forums this option exist and many people use it "when you want to say your critical honest opinion".

it's IPB, not PHPBB

Scatty 07-03-2007 10:40 PM

But it uses the BBCode, right? Or is that a different matter?

win98 08-03-2007 01:40 AM

It might be a PHPBB fourm feature then.

kaali 08-03-2007 07:00 AM

As it seems that somebody hasn't yet got my point, I try to explain again.

The reason I would want to make a text to be so small is, that I want to change the meaning; I'd like to add sarcasm to the text. Example:

YOU ALL GUYS SUCK!!!!!!!
It's quite annoying right now, isn't it. No sarcasm. But I'd like to make it sarcastic. To add sarcasm, I would either add smiley or I could make it very small. See?

Another longer example:
In the topic Fun Game (direct link to the right page), I would have wanted to make the text "...everything nearby him." unable or almost unable to read (but copy+paste would make it readable), so that you could only read the text "SUCKS". So again to add sarcasm.

Sorry I can't make this any clearer, so If you don't get it, leave it.

@ Japofran
Yes I know I can use white, but the small text would be better. ^_^

Moonypond 08-03-2007 07:12 AM

This is pretty small... Probably the smallest... Either Garamond or Arial Narrow.

For sarcasm I usually put a smilies like :bleh: :P :sneaky: :whistling: or [sarcasm] [/sarcasm] .
or white text.
Highliting unreadable text is much easier that copy past then opening notepad and pasting... but that's just me.

Also note that you'd be ruling out the possibility for several people to navigate their way correctly around the forum. people with thick glasses for example and/or blind people.

After all, this is a monitor you're looking at right now. It stresses your eyes enought as it is. Why make it harder for the visually impaired than it already is ?

Note: If it does not affect those with seeing problems, i don't see any reason not to... Great idea, but think about your fellow man.

kaali 10-03-2007 11:09 PM

All right, all right! Forget it.
