currently we've only got Ghost recon & Red Alert and they are starting to get a bit boring unfortunately he's a bit young for doom3 :) and doesn't like the pink guys on doom II !

soo.. any good sugestions for lan games that I can play with a 7 year old preferably abandonware or freeware, they can't be too complicated and preferably would have an option to have 1-2 easyish computer players

he has a ps2 as well but it's only set up on a 14'' portable! so not very easy to play multiplayer

mhh..let me think...I've got a brother so we have play a lot of them...
A nice game is Re-Volt (I don't know the status but it's really funny for a child)
Another one...if I'm not wrong Gta support lan games and you can easily find it on abandonia reloaded!
You can try Wolfenstein Enemy territory (freeware), but it could be too boring with only two players...

If I'll remember other titles I'm gonna tell you! :ok:

I did try the freeware versions of gta but they were just too slow to play and I gave up trying to get them to work :(

I've never seen revolt so I will have a look this weekend thanks.

last time I tried wolfenstein I had some problems with it and couldn't be bothered to fix them but might be worth trying again but as you say might get a bit booring with just two players.

Quake 1 isn't AW or FW, but it's good for two players. Better even if you also use one of the bot utilities to add computer-controlled bot players.

Unreal Tournament is always good for multi.

Yeah right!
You can try the first Unreal Tournament (It was my first lan game!), or Quake 3 Arena, they're similar.
Unfortunatly they are not abandonware, but now they are really cheaper!

chainsoar 18-02-2007 07:58 PM

You could try soldat. It's freeware. It might not be that great with only two people, but it's free, so...hmm.

Sathanas 13-05-2007 09:06 AM

Someone said Re-volt, I second that.

Thanks for all the sugestions , I have been a bit busy recently so we have just been playing either bomberman , bubble bobble or Command and conquer generals but at some point I will try some of them

gregor 18-05-2007 05:54 AM

What about Unreal co-op? not abandoned but....

Or Diablo 2. easy to play, but not a freeware.

then there are games like cyber dogs, cyber dogs 2 (played on same keyboard), liero <<--- simple and freeware

That one is good! I remember playing it on split-screen (no LAN actually),

this one i can also recommend - you can play as a team or be hostile to other players. Been there, done that :D

_r.u.s.s. 23-05-2007 08:11 PM

i dont know, when we tried to set bomberman up, it always gave us some kind of network errors

bobson 23-05-2007 08:15 PM

I played polish version - Dyna Blaster. It was OK.

A little off topic - once upon a time, there was a (also polish) game called Target. It was FPS with special MP option - split-screen :ok: As far as I know it was the only FPS game with this kind of multiplayer option

that stoopid thing just keeps on crashing even with the latest patches :w00t: , Red alert and C&C generals are good though

gufu1992 27-05-2007 08:46 PM

^
1)It's a best game ever
2)Don't play the First Decade one - play the original retail...

Dave 24-06-2007 04:34 PM

If you like pinball genre you should try Pinball Fantasies

strider2 09-08-2007 04:32 PM

Zap! www.zapthegame.com This game is very fun on internet and on lan.
Kind of like an asteroids clone.

ianfreddie07 17-08-2007 05:02 AM

He doesn't like doom 2? Try SkullTag without any monsters, just you and him.

Lea 18-08-2007 11:40 AM

Tetris, no doubt, inbetween the sessions of DoD or Warcraft 3 :D

You can also play on multiplayer console games. There are a unch of consoles that can be used to play on multiplayer. For the SNES emulator, called ZSNES you can use ZBattle, it is a addition to ZSNES where you can see rooms started, how many clients connected and how many players are in any room. For N64 and other consoles/computers there are some compiles of Kaillera that can be used to be played with that system. I hope my post was helpfull :) .
