What Have You Just Bought?

What game did you just bought recently? And how much did it cost?

To celebrate my new computer, I bought Vampire Masquarade Redemption. Only 5.95€!

Treewyrm 31-10-2006 10:19 AM

I bought Freespace 2 finally. I know it's avaliable for free because of it's unique license, but I just wanted to have such great game in box, one of the few games that deserves to be bought and every buck and cent spent is well put in it.

I rarely buy games, I perfer to dl and then decide which deserve to be bought.

The only game I sold from my small collection is WoW, every other take special place on my shelf and memories in me.

The Fifth Horseman 31-10-2006 10:52 AM

No games in the last few months. Don't really have much time to play.

chainsoar 31-10-2006 11:19 AM

Same here, except my problem lies in lack of funds. I'm demanding Bully, Scarface, C&C : The First Decade & Gender Wars for Christmas though. :D

Me as well. Bad thing. There are so many games that I'd like to play actually. Playing through especially.

Reup 31-10-2006 12:22 PM

Last three games I bought:

1. GTA Vice City, $9,99, Wal-Mart (two weeks ago)
2. Delta Force - Black Hawk Down, $9,99, Wal-Mart (two weeks ago)
3. Oblivion, CDNOW.nl, € 28,95 (four months ago)

Eagle of Fire 31-10-2006 12:46 PM

Last game I bought was Rise of Nation a few weeks ago, but I just got to recently try it.

A decent game, tough I'd only give it a par. You can't get a more perfect clone of Age of Empire than that! <_<

Stop bad-mouthing great games! :tai: Ack! Pest!

No new games here, I just download them these days. Got about 40 games last week in one package. Last game I bought was... darn.. can't remmember...

Cloudy 31-10-2006 01:31 PM

Last game I bought was Oblivion I think, My computer can't even run it yet but I wanted to get it while I still had a chance of getting the special edition. Other than that, not bought much games recently.

Bought far too many CDs and DVDs though...

Doubler 31-10-2006 04:10 PM

The new Settlers II :P
Mainly to continue on from my old Settlers II experience LOL

DonCorleone 31-10-2006 09:45 PM

Not the time to play much, either. But since I'm a mad collector I bought a few Xbox games during the last weeks. Namely: Silent Hill2+4, TrueCrime New York and Fable - The Lost Chapters...

Mighty Midget 31-10-2006 09:55 PM

The last game I bought, was Apache95/Hind double-pack in... 95 or so. Used to buy games when I had my C64, but today's games are just too damn expensive (yeah, I know: No money = no new games and all that, but they still are way too expensive)

guesst 01-11-2006 02:36 AM

Just bought Lego Star Wars II because it was on sale for $20 USD, but gonna wait to play it until the missus and I beat Zelda Majora's mask.

No I'm not that slow playing my games, it's just that we only just go given the system as a gift, so this is really my first time playing it.

Congrats! You just bought one of the greatest RPG's ever created in cliche-full computer gaming.

Last game I bought was quake4 for 14 €. A bit expensive, but life is.

Jontzzu 01-11-2006 10:15 AM

Two weekends ago I bought Microsoft Flight Simulator 98. It costed only 5.00€

Quintopotere 01-11-2006 11:10 AM

I bought NeverwinterNights and the Prince of Persia new series... but I'm waiting a new PC to play with them :wallbash:

JJXB 01-11-2006 12:07 PM

Dead or alive: Ultimate(XBOX), Operation Winback (PS2) and Max Payne (XBOX).
that completed the xbox collection of DOA Games :P (not 360) since we alredy had DOA: Xtreme Beach Volleyball (boing!) and DOA3 :P

DonCorleone 01-11-2006 02:08 PM

Ahh...Max Payne. I still need it in my Xbox collection. I knew that I was missing something. And now that Xbox-games are becoming cheap...:D

troop18546 01-11-2006 05:53 PM

Max Payne isn't meant for XBox. LOL
Consoles suck compared to a good PC. PC ownz. Crisis - here I come :D !!!

DonCorleone 01-11-2006 08:19 PM

In some points you may be right. In other points I wouldn't agree with you. But since I like these and that, and maybe because I'm grown up, I won't discuss on that because it's pointless...:D

Talin 01-11-2006 09:36 PM

what i bought in the latest month?
oh well, lemme see...

Last Ninja (C64)
Hillsfar SSI (C64)
Darkmere (Amiga)
Dungeon Master (Amiga)
Dungeon MAster II (Amiga)
Inherit the Earth (PC)
Stonekeep (PC)
Questron II (Apple II)
Crossbow (C64)
Ultima VI (Amiga)
Ultima III (PC)

that, + a 1541 diskdrive, and some 5,25 diskettes with assorted games to the C64.

TheChosen 02-11-2006 05:22 AM

Aah. Now thats a fine purchasement.

Last day, I bought Elder Scrolls Morrowind, Game of the year edition (It has all the add-ons).

And on friday, I will buy No One Lives Forever 2.

bobson 02-11-2006 09:46 AM

Few months ago I bouught Baldurs Gate II + Throne of Bhaal (5.00 euro), but after few days i had (finally) found a job, so ... it's just installed, and I do not know when will I start the third chapter.

I was also thinking about buing Gothic 3 collectors edition (45.00 euro), because I looooved the second part and add-on. Today is the premiere day, and for about two weeks there is no more copy of collector edition ... hmpf
BTW - I just wanted to have it because my computer (Duron 1 Ghz, 384 MB RAM) won't let this game run ...

Doubler 02-11-2006 12:14 PM

Gothic 3 has met with some criticism, most notably about the combat system (apparently combating any kind of monster has become virtually impossible, due to being stagger-locked. The monsters attack quicker then that you can recover from staggering). Also, it seems it's overly system intensive (hearsay). You might want to double check whether that's been fixed before commiting :)

Scarface 02-11-2006 09:33 PM

Last game I bought was Call of Duty 2, but I haven't played it yet. I'm waiting to get my new video card this weekend or next week.

I'm also planning to buy Scarface: The World is Yours.

I call what I see like I see them. Rise of Nations is a AoE clone, it's a fact. Eck, the game would be so much better if the Spy wasn't there... But my guess would be that the game been made over an unaltered AoE engine... Only the stats and the graphics changed. Thus why you have the "priest" unit...

zori 06-11-2006 01:33 PM

i rarely buy anything as im kinda cheap person last game i bought (if i wont count old 8 bit nes games that i buy like maniac) was guild wars prophecies bout 1½ years ago :whistling:

Hatham 06-11-2006 09:33 PM

Escape from Monkey Island and Sim City 4 Deluxe Edition - £5
Grim Fandango - £1
Deja Vu 1 & 2 (Gameboy Colour) - £3
Micro Machines 2 (Megadrive) and Some Golf game i forgot the name of - £2

And since i traded in a bunch of crap i have £30 to spend in gamestation. DANDY

Borodin 07-11-2006 04:17 PM

I almost never buy games. Decided to do so, though:

Kudos, Neverwinter Nights 2, The Guild 2

Cosmonaut_Roger 11-01-2007 01:39 AM

It's been a while since I purchased a game for myself. I recieved Company of Heroes for Christmas this year. Otherwise, the last games I purchased were Vietcong Purple Haze, Tribes Vengeance, and Age of Wonders 2 back in September. I loved all of them except Age of Wonders 2. For some reason I cannot get into that game.

Lulu_Jane 11-01-2007 04:42 AM

The most recent purchase I made was Secret Files - Tunguska, Broken Sword - The Angel Of Death and Dreamfall - The Longest Journey 2.

Sadly the only one that impressed me was Dreamfall, but one out of three isn't too bad I guess.

Incidentally, is my Adventure Nerd status too obvious? ;)

CorruptMylar 11-01-2007 04:54 AM

Just bought a 40" LCD TV 1080p. Gonna get a sweet PC and use the TV as monitor.

Want to get an XBOX 360 so I can play Gears of War and Halo 3 with my friends.

Thinking about getting a Dell XPS 710.

Adventure games are just the best, aren't they. :brain:
I'm currently playing Longest Journey, but when I have finished that, I want to buy Dreamfall (Longest Journey 2) :D

Scatty 11-01-2007 05:15 AM

The last game(s) I bought recently was the Baldur's Game collection from eBay, pair of weeks ago, with complete manuals, area maps and all the rest, almost new and a must-have for a true RPG fan. Have to find the time though yet to play it through, the second part I played many times but the first never yet...

Iron_Scarecrow 17-01-2007 03:04 AM

DS Lite + Metroid Prime: Hunters + Second Sight (GC)

Morrin 18-01-2007 06:04 AM

STFM 29-01-2007 02:21 AM

call of duty 3 for xbox. I love ww2 games

wendymaree 03-02-2007 04:47 AM

About a month ago I bought Keepsake which is a fairly recent entry into the adventure game market. The graphics are wonderful, but the plot is too scanty to really get you involved. You sort of just wander about an admittedly magnificient looking school for magic. Even if the main character said what was going on in her mind occasionally and spoke of what she was trying to do, giving some urgency and purpose, it would be enough. I gues she's trying to solve the mystery of why the school is so empty...but there's too much emptiness and not enough interest. I've stopped playing for now, but I hope if I go back something exciting might be around the corner.

Tito 04-02-2007 04:07 PM

A compilation with Baldur's Gate I and II, and their expansion packs (Tales of the Sword Coast and Throne of Bhaal). What I lacked was the expansions, but for that price (5.95 €) I think it was a worthy purchase.

HomerDOHSimpson 04-02-2007 06:48 PM

I bought Battle Isle 2 Scenery CD on ebay a few hours ago.

silz 05-02-2007 04:09 AM

The last game I bought is NWN 2. Having trouble completing it and I'm still on Act 1. More keen on checking up the oldies on this site first.

Lulu_Jane 05-02-2007 06:50 AM

NWN 2?

What's that stand for?

EDIT: Ah, don't worry about it - I'm guessing you mean Neverwinter Nights.

gregor 05-02-2007 01:13 PM

I buy only games that have replay value. others i get through sharing. Most interesting ones are already abandoned so no need to spend money for them.

I bought that too, when it was obsolete a couple of years ago. I think it's a great car game - fun physics and lovely scenery, although it's a bit too brainless for extended play even though very addictive. EA pulled the plug on their network server for no good reason, very soon after they first released the game. I don't like that company much.

And I'm lovin it...

onenpiepah 24-02-2007 08:45 PM

I bought Baten Kaitos for Gamecube ($12 + way too much--more than half that--S&H) and Bushido Blade for PSX ($8 complete! What a steal!)

So far I'm really enjoying Baten. The reviewer quoted on the box who said, "Possibly the most beautiful game for GC" wasn't kidding. The smoke effects are awesome and the floating islands are cloudy and nice. The pre-rendered backgrounds have an oldschool-yet-gorgeous feel, sort of like those first shots of digitized canyons in Final Fantasy III/VI. The card-based battle system keeps you involved with random draws and countless combos. Things as simple as blocking an attack require fast thinking and reflexes--in a turn based RPG! It sounds strange, but it really works, and totally saves me from the "X button, X button, X button" dredgery. (Or in the Cube's case, big-green-button, big-green-button, big-green-button... *grins*)

As for Bushido Blade, it's a freaking classic, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. No time limits, life bars or dial-in-combos. Just mean, gritty swordplay and one hit kills. There's never going to be anything like it again. (Not even the direct sequel let you cripple your opponents, and that's a real shame. Because there's no greater glory than having both your legs broken and still managing to land the deciding blow.)

Okay, enough blathering. Sorry about the mini-reviews. You should all go out and buy these games, though, 'cause they're really neat. And I have a deal worked out with Square/Namco to get $0.50 every time someone buys one. ^_^

Is that shovelware? Or is all the original stuff included, like a Blizzard battle chest/box/whatever they call it?

I almost bought that Baldur's Gate II Collection with the addon pack included, but I stopped because I wasn't sure if it had all the original manuals and stuff, or if they were just .pdf's on a CD. (I can't stand that sort of release. If it's my only choise, I'll live with it, but if at all possible, I try to track down the original release.)

FoxURA 01-03-2007 10:54 PM

I bought Supreme Commander last Sunday but haven't even installed it yet because my schedule has been too full lately.

Cosmonaut_Roger 05-03-2007 03:13 PM

I just bought Fable and I think it is garbage. It comes across as way to simplistic and constrained. It seems totally linear, more like a console action game than a true RPG. I'm mad I spend $20 on it.

BlindMonk 06-03-2007 01:25 AM

Last items I bought were a fairly nice group:

- Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45
- The Longest Journey
- Fallout 1 & 2
- No One Lives Forever
- Combat Mission

I've played the lot of them prior but never had a chance to own them till recently. When I start playing again it will be a very fun time indeed.

It's been a month since I bought them, but I found Worms World Party and Galactic Civilizations for 5€ each, and Civilization 4 for 25€. The first two were from a game shop that also sells used games, hence the small price, and the Civ 4 was from a supermarket.

DeathDude 12-10-2007 01:28 PM

Been about say three weeks since bought my last game, but bought nevertheless Sam and Max Season 1, definitely enjoyed all six episodes. Episode four was probably my favourite.

Sebatianos 12-10-2007 02:28 PM

The last thing I bought was just delivered by post three days ago. I ordered 5 games (all second hand <_< ) and they cost (all together) 30€ (postage costs included):

Wooden Ships, Iron Men
Road to India
Pilgrim
Robin Hood: Forest Adventure
and
Secret of the Nautilus

TheChosen 11-12-2007 07:11 AM

Im picking this topic back up, because I want to brag about the new game I recently accuired.

I bought this from a Finnish auction website. Its an old classic RPG from 1990. It had the manual, the game disks (floppies!) and...the map of Britannia.

Yes, the game was Ultima 6.

Funny thing is, I have played U6 before, but it never really caught my attention. Until yesterday, when I played, I just couldnt stop.

BTW, the same guy was selling lots of old games. He also had Ultima Underworlds with a manual and rune pouch (I would have bought it, but 60€ is a little too tough for a old game).

EDIT: I also bought Terminal Velocity, Hitman 2 & No One Lives Forever from the auction site.

Tervez 11-12-2007 02:14 PM

Latest game I bought was Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition. It was only 15€, and since we're getting a PS2 this Christmas, I and my sister bought some games already.

No, we can't use the PS2 until 24th.

And yes, it's killing me.

sillybuttons™ 13-12-2007 06:14 PM

Last game i bought was FF12 (huge Final Fantasy fan) for PS2. Cost me the princley sum of £40 but well worth it. I got 3 months worth of gameplay for my money . The last game i "aquired" was Dreamweb downloaded from abandonia. I played the demo for this about ten or so years ago for amiga and was desperate to get it but never did. I had just about forgotten about it when I found it on here and boy it was worth the wait.

Burger Meister 30-12-2007 03:49 PM

Last year I started buying some pc games because I figure I should support an industry that I am going into in the future. Yesterday I bought Enemy Territory: Quake wars for $50 and Star Wars Empire At War: Gold Edition for $30. I was going to go to EB Games, but it was closes when my work closes so I couldn't go there. Went to wal mart instead.

Forge of Freedom. I like supporting indie developers, especially ones that do great games.

Will probably buy Sam & Max: Season 1, in the next few weeks.

Doubler 12-01-2008 08:39 PM

Just aquired old boxed versions of Caesar II, Fallout (horribly translated box and manual) and TESA: Redguard.
I've also bought a replacement copy of Mafia. I used to play it every year around december, but I lost the CD :( - I guess I'll be playing it through twice this year :amused:

Borodin 13-01-2008 04:54 AM

I've recently bought Forge of Freedom, an incredibly deep reenactment of the Civil War. May buy Dominions 3, or Sam and Max Season 1.

A full-boxed copy of Planescape: Torment.
What is it with RPG's and horribly localized boxes and manuals?

Office_Monk 07-02-2008 11:29 AM

2 weeks ago I bought the following games (at 2.5€/piece) in a toystore that's gonna close down:

Starsky & Hutch
Miami Vice (the new one by Davilex)
Armed and Dangerous (3 cd's baby, for 2.5€!)

Only bought them because they were so cheap...

BranjoHello 07-02-2008 11:54 AM

Last thing I bought was Splinter Cell (5€).
I'm planing to buy Lemmings Revolution (5€)
I'm trying to find Total War ERAS but no luck...probably gonna have to order it on line. :(

Also I'm selling The Sims 2 (15€), brand new, played it once or twice, so if anyone is interested... :amused:

Eagle of Fire 07-02-2008 12:14 PM

Last game I bought was Mount & Blade for 25$. It's a game still in developement but showing great potential, and by paying that amount I am helping in the developement of the game. The game was worth 25$ when I purchased it about a month ago, and I have a serial key which allow me to download the game for free when it will finnaly hit the final release. Not a bad deal I think. :)

Which splinter cell? I saw the newest one for $6.99 at my local EB Games. Also I can never find Total War ERAS.. I had one off topic question. Do you live in Montenergo or Serbia? Lol you profile says Serbia and Montenegro.

BranjoHello 07-02-2008 05:52 PM

I live in Serbia, I did set in profile to Serbia but it automaticly change to Serbia and Montenegro! :notrust:

Splinter Cell 1(one), if it would be any other I would say so! ;)

Burger Meister 07-02-2008 09:18 PM

Oh, I just got talked into buying something. I just bought a Super Nintendo and Donkey Kong Country for it with my sis.

Oh, and I bought a few games for PC the other day: Crusader: No remorse, Shattered Steel, Xcom Apolacypse, Syndicate, Warcraft 2, and Morrowind. For a total price of...

*dramatic pause*

11 euros.

(The Super Nintendo for 50 euros and DK Country for 27 euros, which I'll split with sis. :whistling:)

AlumiuN 12-10-2008 08:38 PM

11 Euros? *does quick conversion into NZ$* That's damn good for 6 games.

Burger Meister 13-10-2008 03:57 AM

where do you guys get your old pc games? Ebay?

red_avatar 13-10-2008 06:43 AM

*couldn't resist and had to correct the title*

Sorry TheChosen :max:

About the topic: I'm switching between stores for pre-orders on the collector's edition of Fallout 3. The lunchbox is too cool to pass over.

Tervez 13-10-2008 09:33 AM

I found the PC games at a flea market, got real lucky there to speak the truth. For other old games, I usually buy them from the net.

Bobbin Threadbare 13-10-2008 12:38 PM

Game-wise I haven't bought anything recently. :whistling:

I'm highly enjoying myself with Psychonauts at the moment, obtained with Steam. I love it when they make a game that fits me so well, it's a shame the sales didn't go too well at the time of release *wants sequel*

sfiebig 14-10-2008 04:31 PM

Bought Star Wolves (first one) for 8 euro. Does anybody know this?
Imo a great game and specially worth a try for people liking games like Jagged Alliance.

SlowCoder 15-10-2008 03:03 PM

As of late, no purchased games for the PC, as I've move largely to the consoles. As for the consoles, I've recently purchased Drake's Fortune and Blacksite. "Boo" to Blacksite, as for a relatively new game, it plays a lot like Wolfenstein to me, and has some unnecessary content, which keeps me from playing while the kids are awake. :(. "Yay!" to Drake's Fortune. Gives a pretty good storyline, and the play isn't bad either. Only thing I don't like about it is the lack of free roam that a lot of the newer games provide.

I like to scour the discount bins for PS2 games frequently, but I think I've picked up anything that looks interesting. What I feel really good about here is that I managed to purchase all 3 (PS2) of the Ratchet and Clank, and all 3 (PS2) of the Jak and Daxter games, at what I consider a steal of about $75! I've gotten so much more money out of them than I put into them!

MrDeadly 15-10-2008 03:47 PM

Bought Realms of the Haunting - really, really fantastic game. Great for dark october nights :amused: For consoles I'm also currently buying the Ratchet and Clank series, just got the second. Funny shit.

unnecessary content? nudies or bad language?

I doubt there's any nudity, but it does have strong language. I'm not against cursing if it fits well into the game, but I don't think it did in Blacksite. Because of the amount of language that was used, I can't allow my son to play, or even watch while I play.

My son watched me play pretty much the whole Drake's Fortune, which had a little bit of language, but nothing compared to Blacksite.

Talin 15-10-2008 07:57 PM

i am in the plans of buying Blacksite, but if it is crap im taking it off my list.

Take my opinions with a grain of salt. After playing with it for a while, it feels empty, without a real story. And it pretty much plays like older FPS (Return to Castle Wolfenstein, etc.). It does allow you to "command" team members, but that's not new technology, either. It doesn't hold a candle to games like FarCry or HalfLife.

In hindsight, I might should have waited until it got real cheap before buying.

But that's just my personal opinion.

Burger Meister 15-10-2008 09:27 PM

I just bought Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway, I can't wait till I get back to university so I can play it... this pc at home sucks too much.

I don't like soccer, but Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (yes, 6, qhy are you looking at me like that?) is really fun on my PC when a couple of friends come at home. There are two friends with whom I ALWAYS have to play at least three matches whenever they come home. Boy, those are heated matches!

Good choice on Kane and Lynch, extremely underrated game. Is even better when played through as co-op.

JubeiDOK 10-03-2009 07:37 PM

I'll be picking up EndWar, Prince of Persia, and BIA:HH on Thursday. Will prob also run out and grab Dawn of War 2 on my way home Friday. Lookin forward to DoW2, sounds like an RTS that I can handle =)

Assassin's Creed...

While awesome, it's repetitive as a bitch. Do missions for an hour, and it will feel like you've done them all already. And the game continues past that, with the same missions over and over again.

Not that it bugged me alot, though; I can just run around, climb buildings, assassinate people, etc. hours upon hours. But the missions were just crap, and far from as awesome as people make them out to be, in my opinion. You hear this BS about how you can ''take on the missions however you want to,'' which probably started after the GameTrailers.com review of it (which whoever reviewed it said so in). Couldn't be further away from the truth. If you're on a mission where you have to grab some dude and make him talk, that's all you do. You wait until he walks into an ally, then go for it. Nothing more to it.
And on the missions where you need to assassinate someone... well, same here. Again and again. Sure, you get to pick when you should ''go for it'', and from which direction, but does the translate to being able to ''take on the missions however you want to''? No freakin' way. Not even close.

Still, the game is awesome. More variety between the missions would be very much appreciated, though. But like I said; I can just play around for the longest time in it.

Oh, but it does include a pretty awesome story, though. And an awesome plot twist.

CorruptMylar 18-03-2009 06:03 AM

I just bought Terra Nova:Strike Force Centari . I impulsively purchased it after running across some gameplay videos on Youtube. I've wanted to play it since playing a demo from PC Gamer back in 1996. I now have the computer to run it.

It's pretty good so far.

voitan 02-04-2009 10:03 PM

Space quest, LSL and police quest collections... Very good games
