There seems to be a problem with the file - it crashes out after the first proper (league) match... no error messages.
|
Run under dosbox, can be downloaded here at abandonia.
|
you can download this game at some other place
this game CANNOT run on Win XP although if you put together a win 98 book disk you CAN run the game from the disk. this is the reason for the black screen. I reccomend using Windows 98 to run this game. :) GET YOUR OLD PC'S OUT OF THE LOFT! |
does anyone know where I can download USM 98 for free?
cheers |

Hi, Iīm running USM2 in Dosbox, everything fine till after a few minutes the screen is "sprinkled" with different colors than the original ones. That makes nearly impossible to enjoy the game...
Does anyone experience the same problem and knows a solution? I had this problem in the classical usm as well but was able to avoid it by saving the game after every match. But in this case the problem occurs during a match... Greetz, DBrog |
Try changing the output mode in DosBox.conf.

Hello,
This might be like a bottle in the sea, but i try: I've trying to play usm2 again recently. DosBox gives me a weird bug: I don't have youth players (aged 17) at the start of each season. Every player grow old each season and with no-one to replace them, the game stops after a few seasons : No-one to hire and not enough players in the team to play. Anyone got an idea? Thx |

No, reinstalling doesn't change anything, but I think I found a way, not to solve completely the problem, but at least to keep playing. I edit the savegame (USMF0001.SVE) with a hex editor (ultra-edit). I can edit the age of all players so they get younger.
(So it can help : The first not-null byte right after the player name is the age). The weirdest thing is that at the end of the list of players (in the savegame), there is youth players! I just don't see them in the transfert list (and the other teams don't seem to see them either). If I was not so lazy I would try to understand where in the file it is written which players belong to my team. I think now the only people that can do something are the developers of the game. Someone know their e-mail adress? Should I write to sierra (I think they bought Impressions)? |
I found something interesting : My scout sees 17 years old players. They are in european teams, and in CN1A (in the france league), but not in division 1 (where I am). They seem to buy every young player before I can have the time to at least see them in the beginning of the new seaon.
I think that some CPU-speed difference is the origin of the problem, and even dosbox doesn't emulate perfectly (I have some weird bugs on other games too). But no problem, I know that young players are there somewhere. The game can keep going on... :sneaky: |
okay im annoyed with this game i love it and i can play it god sake. can someone plz go step to step wit it coz it crashes after every first game i got a dosbox but dunno how to use. im new to this see.

Did the Dosbox, donīt run the game? You canīt work with the Dosbox? You need to tell more, to be helped... |
From what I uderstand, he simply doesn't want to use DosBox.

You can download DosBox here. If you have any problems with it, try having a look at the official FAQ on the DosBox site. Basic Setup and Installation Command Line Z instead of C at the command prompt Internal Programs (important, especially MOUNT) Most of the stuff in there is not really needed, but you would do best to familiarize yourself with the specific topics I linked to. The mounting of your DosBox games directory, switching the promt to the emulated C: drive and clearing the screen from previous commands can all be executed from the [autoexec] section of dosbox.conf, so you won't have to re-type them every time round. Frontend programs can help running DosBox with varying configurations for different games. |
you might try running command prompt (cmd.exe)
then right-click the title bar, go to properties, switch the display mode to full-screen. then go cd c:\whatever-your-game-path-is and run usm2 it worked for my windows 2000 EDIT: you might also make a shortcut, and then set it's properties->screen to full-screen tell me if it helped you. |
why won't abandonia host this game? isn't it abandonware and over 15 years old?

oh. must've confused it with another soccer manager. they all sound the same. championship manager, championship soccer manager, ultimate championship soccer manager, LOL... I guess originality in the titles isn't a good thing for sports games.

Hello!
Well, I'm not sure if it's a bug, but I keep experiencing crowd violence at home matches - resulting in large fines (version 1.02, no patch). I've tried lowering ticket prices, among other things, to no avail. The fan morale is close to 100%, second season. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated! :) |

enlarge it but still with the maximum you can build, you'll still have violence if you'r team is succcesfull and you filling the field make the tickets more expensive! the crowd will boycot you at first, but they will come around later |
I have USM2 working on dosbox (thanks for the tutorial btw) but if I hit alt+enter to make it full screen the screen shows messages every minute complaing about HZ. This may be more of a monitor (Phillips 170C) problem but I was wondering if I could get any help here.

It is obvious that you are mounting the game directory incorrectly.

This game is amazing, I used to play it at my friends house in the 90s.
Then I rediscovered it a while ago but was disappointed because it doesn't work with windows xp, then I found this site and downloaded DOSBOX and it works perfectly!! best football manager sim in my opinion.... :ok: |

Sorry, this game is protected, and thus you can not get any information on where to get this game for free. You will have to buy it.

Hey. Can anyone help me? I've got the game on the original CD and everything. Used to play it on my old 486. got a loptop, windows 98 now and can't get it to work.
I had it installed a while ago on here, but now it won't. It refuses to install from CD to folder on C drive, (saying must be 486 or faster) and then when i attempt to run it, it says no CD config found and shuts down. Any ideas anyone? And I don't have a clue about dosbox :S Matt |
Hey Matt :) Ok, the game needs to be run in a DOS environment. Have you tried restarting Win98 in DOS mode?
About DOSBox: First of all it's a resource hungry program, so unless you got a pretty decent machine, I won't recommend it. Anything less than say, 1.2 GHz and plenty of ram will most likely cause DOSBox to fail working properly, especially if the game is big too. If you do have a powerful machine, feel free to read the DOSBox tutorial (link in my signature) and then post in troubleshooting after you have searched that section for answers to your problems setting up and running DOSBox. |
This game can now be downloaded on squakenet
Don't know if it is legal or not, just wanted to let you know:nuts: |
I've downloaded DOSBox 0.73. I have no idea what to do next?
|
read readme.txt
|
downloaded the game i cant use dosbox i dont know how ive read on how to use it and i still cant manager to use it properly can i start windows xp in safemode and play it like that or wot?
|
No. Starting Windows in "Safe Mode" won't do jack to help you run this game.
Read this. If you have any questions after that, please be specific about the problem you're encountering. |
This is the facebook influx...
Dos commands are confusing, I guess. (?!) Guest person - if you read the simple, step by step instructions on how to use Dosbox (there are many, many tutorials scattered around the net) it is really very easy to run these games. Perhaps we should start explaining how to do Dosbox Frodo style? The drag and drop bundle thing? It may help the [**people who don't know**] |
Then they'll come back as soon as they try to run a game from a CD-image or one that requires a specific path.
Drag & Drop is simple, but not much simpler than just setting up the thing properly the one time you have to (since after that all can be automated). |

Any other ideas? |
Use DOSBox (yet another link).

Custom leagues for USM2
Has anyone ever made the custom leagues for USM2?
I mean, the leagues that are not English, French, German? |
