Of course. All spyware is free. Just enter some porn sites - the more the better - and agree to install anything they ask you to. Hey presto, a bit pile of steaming hot spyware right on your computer.

Use this one:

Spybot - Search & Destroy

It's real spyware a$$-kicking program. But you have to be aware what you're removing. But you get enough disclaimers about that. It's like overclocking. :whistling: ^_^

Another good one for removing stuff would be Ad-Aware from Lavasoft - I believe the Personal version is free - it can clean some crap too.

Japo 17-07-2006 06:29 PM

EasyCleaner will remove invalid entries in your Windows registry, you can't go without it.

Eagle of Fire 17-07-2006 10:39 PM

I personnaly use Spybot - Search & Destroy, SpywareBlaster, Ad-Aware Se Personal, Spyware Doctor.

Also, get Firefox if you don't use it already. Best spyware and ad blocker ever. You can find several extentions to help you out for security reasons too, I love NoScript for instance. :)

I use Ad-Aware along with Opera webbrowser.
Ever since i started using Opera, Ad-aware have been in idle-mode almost always.

The BEST SPyware-protection you can get is to get another web-browser.

My recomendation to you is:
1. Get Ad-aware (see link above)
2. Clean your computer
3. Get an Anti-Virus like "AVG" perhaps
4. Clean your computer
5. Type www.opera.com in you browser
6. Download and install Opera
7. Enjoy pop-up free surfing.

Opera can be set to have them pop-under, since SOME popups are required sometimes.
There is a difference between ad-popups and user-demanded popups.

Also run ewido anti amlware on your computer unless you buy the full version after 21 days trial period it will stop having a resident sheild and only scan your pc for malware scan everey few days and keep it updated. Clcik here to goto ewidos homepage

This is VERY, VERY true! :ok: But Opera needs a bit adjusting and that can be hard if you don't know PCs too well.

But I think we're flooding you with information GAME-CRACK. ^_^

Lucullus 18-07-2006 11:09 AM

Isn't that what the internet is all about? Overflow with information? :)

My personal spyware + virus protection is:
Spywareblaster Find it here
Adaware SE Personal addition Find it here
Spybot S&D Find it here
AVAST antivirus Find it here

All right... all that is free too except for Avast... you got to register for the key but registration is free, so that would make the program free too ;) :whistling:

What exactly does this "NoScript"... I use an UMTS-flat at the moment and the provider proxies all pictures so that they have a lower quality. Would "NoScript" avoid something like that?

Eagle of Fire 20-07-2006 03:59 PM

NoScript prevent everything external to Firefox, like Java Script, Flash, plugins, etc. to be executed without my immediate consent.

I just use that. I really can't be stuffed to get rid of spyware. Just get used to it. Horseman has a good tutorial for you too.

In my opinion you need the following: (at least these are what I use)

1.Firewall
2.Anti-virus
3.Anti-spyware
4.Registry Optimizer

You can try Zonelabs Internet Security Suite, it contains first three but it considerably slows down PC and I doubt its virus and spyware database is good enough. I'm not using it anymore. If you want, Zonelabs also has seperate products. (Firewall is good but it conflicts with Avast)

Lavasoft Ad-Aware is really good at cleaning spyware. On the other hand I think real-time protection is necessary, no meaning to recover after getting infected, so I offer you to get the Pro version. Spybot could also be essential, it's quick, effective.

For virus protection I tried Zonelabs, AVG, Antivir and finally Avast. Avast seems really cool and it is free.

After all an optimizer should be used for correcting registry entries and improving performance. WinASO is really handy.(Only neg is that you can only correct 10 entries in trial mode)

Here is my suggestion:
Download and install Avast, Ad-Aware, SpyBot, Winaso and a firewall of your choice. Open your browser, delete all temporary files, cookies, etc. Perform deep scans both with anti-virus and anti-spyware. Then open Winaso, set the scan to aggresive mode and don't use ignore list. Delete all wrong entries after the scan. Finally don't enter junk sites :ok:

Currently I am using Avast, Ad-Aware and Winaso. These seems enough at the moment, I don't encounter any problems. I didn't change my browser but I guess it will surely help. I hope this wasn't so long :tomato:

(BTW I'm looking for an another firewall which doesn't conflict)

Firefox works great for me. Mind, I know a site where one popup always gets through, but on the whole, it's great.

It occasionally blocks one I want, but thats what the "Temporarily allow popups" button is good for.

I have McAffee aswell (Not legally acquired, mind), and that can root out some adware. My dad has about 5 different programs for adware/spyware on his pc, but they take forever to start.

JimmyJ 23-07-2006 05:06 AM

wait, where is the temporarily allow popups button at??

Japo 23-07-2006 01:16 PM

When a popup is blocked a frame appears telling you, and I think that clicking on it you can allow one popup at a time, or all popups for that site. I don't know if it was this Danny was talking about. Anyway it's very difficult for a navigator to mistake a wanted popup with an unwanted one, after all you're clicking for the former but the latter comes without a click.

Meh, I use Opera, it's so much faster and stuff.

This really is the best, I've used it to clean up my PC completely, it works fine and dandy.

Japo 24-07-2006 10:18 AM

I only use Lavasoft Ad-Aware. Is there any reason why Spybot might be better?

Besides using Opera spyware never gets in --at least according to Ad-Aware. My new computer has been installed for months and all my Ad-Aware scans have yielded negative results. I'm pretty sure it would be otherwise with MS IExplorer.

Blood-Pigggy 24-07-2006 02:33 PM

Spybot's virus/spyware tables are updated more often and they also just work faster.

melthas 24-07-2006 06:27 PM

I think Ad-Aware will do it alone but Spybot S&D also is a handy program. Even there is a low chance it might find something that Ad-Aware can't find. I was used to scanning my PC with both of them but SpyBot doesn't seem to find anything different than Ad-Aware. I don't bother using it anymore but I can't argue that it is good. It's a matter of choice.
