congratulations for the move? to the new software.
I have a comment/slight complain. The font/text looks different in a bad way. Like, too spaced out or something, that makes it difficult to read. Or is it just my imagination?

As far as I know the fots are still the same as on the old version

The "attachicon" image was missing, it's fixed now. :)
If you don't see it just reload/refresh.

hmm, well, something makes it more difficult to me to read the text.
I don't have a picture of the old to directly compare, but whatever it is (or isn't it) it sure is annoying.

win98 26-05-2006 10:09 PM

It looks fine to me.
Edit I just had to do that.

guesst 26-05-2006 10:20 PM

Well, cosmetic differences aside, the new forums seems to load slower than the old one for me. Maybe my connection is just wonky today.

.:EDIT:.
...or my virus scan could be running in the background.

Eagle of Fire 27-05-2006 01:25 AM

I really wasn't looking forward to this day. Visually, this board is so bad in comparison to the old one I'm not sure I can get over it.

I knew it would get to this because it been tested on AR first... Even preparing for this didn't help. :(

Kosta 27-05-2006 01:29 PM

Oh come on... minus buttons and a few extra boxes its exactly the same
Besides, it had to be done for two reasons that are of greater importance than visual details, and that is server performance & security.

EDIT: I've removed all remaining blue elements and fonts which I noticed. I've also shaded the buttons a little so that they don't scream red as much as they did before. Just to a hard refresh (ctrl+f5) on board index, topic view and forum view and everything should fall into shape. If you encounter any blue elements that I accidentally missed, let me know!

Grinder 27-05-2006 04:21 PM

I think the font is okay, the attachment thing bugs me, though. The rest is pretty okay.

Attachment?

Scarface 27-05-2006 06:37 PM

I like this new version of the forum with the abandonia colors. It's just a matter of time to get used to the new things but it's almost the same.

Ah, alright, that has been fixed :)

Eagle of Fire 28-05-2006 10:38 PM

The shading helps a lot.

There is one button at the top which is written "options" on it. It's gray right now and I'm not sure if you intented it that way.

The small icons in the "Today active topics" should be reworked a little too I think. At least shade a little the handcase icons, or change them altogether...

Edit: The Abandonia link, just under the Abandonia logo, don't open the site in a new window. Same for the User Agreement/Terms of Service, which lead to a blank page too BTW.

efthimios 28-05-2006 11:16 PM

Hmm, so I am the only one that sees everything eh spaced out?

The Fifth Horseman 29-05-2006 09:32 AM

Not bad, but it indeed works a jot slower.

By the way, I'd appreciate returning the drop-down quickjump menu at the bottom.

Hm, I removed that because I thought it clutters the layout without much practical use.... it saves exactly one click....

Alright, I've removed the guidelines link that led to an empty page. Also made the Abandonia link open in a new window although that actually required editing template files :tai:

As for the handcase icons, those are default icons for IPB versions 2.x. I agree that they are not exactly spectacular, but I like sticking to the way things were intended to look because deep down I want to believe they were made to look like that for a reason :)

The options box is gray on purpose as I believe it should stand out enough for ppl to see it. Do you have an idea for an alternative color?

The Fifth Horseman 29-05-2006 11:53 AM

Oh, and... the "Last Active" info in the user profile is a good thing too. Now I know when Omuletzu last visited. :D

Heck, "Name Change History" is good too. We now can see that The Niles is really the same person as The Picard...

+EDIT+

And how could I forget about "Quick edit"? That's the best thing next to Abandonia itself!

Well, I usually go the Micro$oft route when thinking of things like that... Which mean, they probably made it because it was cheap and easy to do, and they expect you to change it (for a fee). :whistling:

No, I was just wondering if it was intentional. Works with me. :)

Edit: while I was moving my old reviews from Favorite Oldies and Newbies, I realised that either there is some threads missing or they got deleted somehow. I can't find my old thread about Freedom Force. Did we lose some threads in the move?

Edit2: is there something wrong with the "Today's top 10 posters"? I think The Fifth Horseman broke it. :P
Is he supposed to be at the very top line?

BeefontheBone 30-05-2006 06:46 AM

You did change the date option to show all threads not just those from the last month, right?

Actually, it's the second line that's working wrong. No member name, no total posts, no join date.
Kind of like if the forum started counting Guest posts in the "Top 10 posters" list, if you ask me.

Eagle of Fire 30-05-2006 01:39 PM

The second line is not wrong, other than it's supposed to be at the top. It's supposed to show the total of all the lower lines. I.E. the number total of posts of the top 10 members of that day and the % posts they've done. When I looked at it, your name was there instead.

Kosta 30-05-2006 01:42 PM

I'll make a post about it in invision support :)

EDIT: Actually, after a quick look, the "first" top poster is obviously the "guest" account... so that's alright, most posts today were made by guests

Why was the gender-specification removed?

 I wonder why, too...

The Fifth Horseman 30-05-2006 03:56 PM

Immature sex-obsessed teenagers with testosterone overload are a reason by themselves. ^_^

_r.u.s.s. 30-05-2006 04:16 PM

and real reason?

Data 30-05-2006 04:36 PM

It wasn't a default option so it has to be readded again ?
Not entirely sure though.

Kosta 30-05-2006 08:37 PM

The options are still there in the admin control panel, and they should appear on the registration form, they just don't appear in the profile for some odd reason
