Hello everyone!I'm currently searching for ANY abandonware game to fill my criteria.I had no luck using Google so I'm asking you to help:

The game must be either survivalistic or post-apo with survival elements.Of course the best of them would be survivalistic post-apo game.It should be also about survival of samll groups or individuals.Taking games from every year but if its ASCII or similar I would be glad if the game had as little abbreviations(STR,GLD,AGL...)as possible.
Some games I tried:
Visions af Apocalypse:Boomtown (Liked that)
Robinson's requiem(Disliked that because of lousy grahics, some unrealistic elements-dying by falling from 1.5 high slope...,and also because its more of adventure.)
Deus(see above)
Wilderness(disliked,chaotic controls)
Schiffbruch(Liked that)
Notrium
Burntime
That would be probably all.
I appreciate any suggestions. :bye:

Well, i've heard good things about the post-apocolyptic rougelike Alphaman, though i've never played it. The link at the other place goes to a page with a broken download link So I dunno if that matches all your criteria, but roguelikes are ALWAYS survival'esque games, and this one's post apoc.

Bad Blood (STR)
Shadowrun (Futuristic, based on the RPG)
Fist of the North Star (ACT)
Dreamweb (ADV)

Regards,
Lightside

PS. Is Deus still being sold? I can't find a full version anywhere.

Have you tried "Burntime"? Itīs a mix of post-apocalyptic adventure and strategy game

bjbrains2002 29-12-2005 08:39 PM

Have you tried notrium? It's one of the best survival games and freeware too (monkkonen.net)

Toxik 29-12-2005 09:12 PM

Thanks but I just forgot to mention them on the list... :tomato:

UnReal World is probably the most realistic survival RPG out there. It's been actively developed for some 10 years, and is a very polished title. Moreover, it's based on the Nordic folklore, which is awesome.

Thanks a lot Timpsi its really pretty cool.I cant use extended command though, because of this DAMNED keyboard! grrh

Wilderness - A Survival Adventure

Hi all

I'm looking for a game, which, as far as I can remember, was called Wilderness Survival. But here's the twist - it's not that awful game with the actual graphics. This one had purely ASCII-based graphics. It featured a top-down "view" of the game world, and a whole bunch of tables and graphs surrounding that.

If you've ever played the awesome Notrium, then that's almost the exact same type of gameplay, except this game is waaaaay older. As far as I can remember, the interface was mainly purple, and had no real graphics at all if I remember correctly.

In this game, you have to find a pocket-knife, hunt and skin bears, find all sorts of food and what-not and just generally survive. The entire game is set on some sort of plateau, and you have to build a parachute to jump off the endge to finish the game.

I have been searching all over the place and absolutely cannot find this game anywhere, any help would really be appreciated. I think this game is about 15 years old, but may well be older.

Thanks in advance :bye:

Wilderness: A Survival Adventure

Released: 1985 by Electric Transit, Inc.

It's Abandonware :ok: , so if someone can upload it :whistling:

GeometriX 03-07-2007 11:23 AM

Wow, blast from the past ;)

I appreciate the effort, but that's not the one I'm looking for. As I said - the game I'm thinking of was purely ASCII-based. I have a feeling that this game you mentioned may actually be a remake of it.

Wait...this time I wont disappoint you....Wilderness: A Survival Adventure (1984) (VG) :max:

Director: Wesley Huntress
Writer: Charles Kohlhase (designer)
Release Date: 1984 (USA)
Genre: Adventure
Plot Summary: Your plane has crashed in a remote region of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Rescue? Forget it. You're on your own...

23 years old game....certainly Abandonware ^_^

marko river 04-07-2007 11:38 AM

Isn't that the story for the same text-based adventure in your previous post???

And if not, where to find it, Mobygames has no info on that, and surely there's no archive....
I will review the Wilderness with those CGA pictures and i think it is rext-based sooner or later unless someone else does. But the game played in ASCII in top-down view.... I never even heard of it...

Generic request, moved to invalid requests.

Luchsen 10-08-2007 01:14 PM

The descriptions David posted are for the same game, only the release date differs because of this:

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(IMDB)</div>
Quote:

The first game sold through Electronic Art's Affiliated Label distribution program. After a year, Electric Transit ended their relationship with Electronic Arts and distributed the game through Spectrum Holobyte.

I have found this [TXT], but there is no parachuting involved.

Wow, that's it! I can't believe you've found it. Since you said you've captured a screenshot, does that mean you have it?

Luchsen 10-08-2007 03:51 PM

Shareware Version [ZIP|38KB]

GeometriX 12-08-2007 04:45 PM

Ah, wow, that's really awesome. Thanks tons Luchsen :D

Dave 16-08-2007 11:31 PM

So it's the (2.0) version of the game I was talking about or it's another game?

Luchsen 17-08-2007 12:03 AM

It's another game.
