Hi everyone!

I am proud to announce that we have a new shoutbox in place! This one will only allow registered members to post, and under their own names as well. This should prevent posting under false names and flaming / spamming we encountered in the past. This is the first version, so there is still room for improvement. That is why I would like to hear your initial thoughts and suggestions on what you think would be a welcome addition to it!

Indeed, no archive. And sometimes the posts seem to dissappear :blink:

Fixed the capitalization... will work on the archive tomorrow. As for the dissapearing, call it a one time glitch :P

EDIT: And the "archive" works now, you can use the next & previous buttons

Sorry but those would take up the entire shoutbox... :D They need to be miniature, I've already added smileys for all needs so suggestions in that area are closed :bleh:

we don't seem to have an angry smiley (like so:http://67.15.5.220/5548/161/emo/cussing.gif or so: http://67.15.5.220/5548/161/emo/Pissed.gif) and while I'm not sure we need one we don't have an evil simley (like so:http://67.15.5.220/5548/161/emo/FIREdevil.gif)

we allso have versions of those on our board ( :ranting: and :twisted: ) which fit the frames better, but than you would think I didn't do my homework :whistle:

edit: I see you've added the evil one. but the angry one is more important don't you think? :sneaky:

There's 255 character limit, if I'm not mistaken. At least that's what Kosta said...

Maybe you could apply a little style-sheet to the 'Next' and 'Previous' buttons, so they look nicer? They're quite large now...

You know how there's the little +/- to hide different forums on the main board?You could make a hide button to hide the shoutbox...

Well, you can hide the whole statistics window and with it the shoutbox will dissapear as well. What I could do is, if you don't like the shoutbox, place an option not to display it in your control panel

I am all for keeping spam and stupid links off these forums, but I am gonna miss posting under various hilarious gimmick names, which spawned many "WTF" moments. Those were priceless.

It is, the shoutbox restrictions are separate from the forum ones :sneaky:

I'm not experienced with shoutbox and all. Is it possible to break it away from that little corner it's stuck at into a seperate window? Not that it matters. It's not something I've quite got the hang of.

In firefox it goes like this: right click on the shoutbox -> this frame -> open this frame in new window/tab

Because it's not working for me.... and yesterday I had a similar problem at Reload.

To be more specific, the button for sending message, and the box where the messages are written and the "messages archive" link are gone, so I can't write a thing.

However I noticed Tulac wrote something there "3 minutes and 55 seconds ago"

Works for me, does it work after you refresh the page?

It works for me also. Shrek, maybe you should delete cookies, empty the cache and then try again. If you still will not be able to see the buttons, then go and get Firefox. If you are already using it...then you are lying. Nothing can go wrong with FF. Nothing! :P Praise Firefox :kosta:

"Xajax error". Couldn't do anything with it. Just for info... :unsure:

a have a little problem. when i type ">)" in shoutbox, it writes me "> ; )" where ; ) is emoticon so it looks like instead of

a dog died.

i've been expirencing problems with the shoutout box. all morning it wont let me type anything, because the box that would normally display the emoticons and the white box to write in is... missing! can someone fix this plz! :wallbash:

Again, I think it's related to javascript limitations on your system, but I can't be sure.

I visited the forum with Firefox and I had no problems till this evening/night (meaning that I saw the buttons of the sb). I kept the page open in the background. After some time I refreshed the page with the forum and the buttons were gone. Refreshing the page did not bring the buttons back. I´ve also cleared the cache, deleted the cookies and opened the page again, but the result was the same: I can see, what others have written, but the field with the smilies, the buttons, archive etc. is missing.

When I view the forum with IE, the shoutbox (with the buttons) ist there and everything is fine. :blink:

Yesterday it was all fine with IE. Today I can see what's written before but I can't see the buttons and the message box. Refreshed the page many times, cleared the cache, it doesn't work...

sorry for double posting but i found another error

shoutbox is acting pretty wierd about writing
notice there are quotes^

once it was when i seen "dj-tiesto-fan" logged and wanted to say his name in quotes it gave me this wierd error
when i typed "dj-tiesto-fan" it gave me
(no spaces)

BUT when you type something else like "a-b-c" it writes it in right way

or also "something-something-something" is written in right way too

now, when you type "-randomcrap-" it writes also "-randomcrap- & quot ;

when you type "-something-" it writes it in right way

there are many more wierd combinations with it, like when you type "-1234567890-" it gives you "-1234567890-"; (see there s an ; in it) BUT without & quot


oh and the most wierd thing is that everything is fine in archive

EDIT: now tulac shown me its not about "--", its just about ""
EDIT2: i just found that it's in letter-count so "dj-tiesto-fan" is wrong becouse when you type anything made of 13 letters in quotes it will give you &quot ; in the end

If someone else didn't find out this thing before me, then it's good. :P

I've noticed that when you log in on the forum, but do not select the Remember me option, you cannot write on the shoutbox. This problem can easily be solved by logging in with the Remember me option checked.

The SB doesn't initialize now... what's wrong with it?
